Where to start

Recommended Posts

I have had a bit of an RC obsession the past few weeks, and I'm on the verge of buying my first kit.

Originally I was set on Nitro but realised that is not ideal for what I really want to aim towards, which is a rock bouncer like Axial Ryft or similar.

Unfortunately at the moment I can't justify that kind of money, especially as a nub, so have been looking for an entry point.

I've looked at options that I can gradually upgrade, then transfer parts over to an un-assembled rock bouncer kit.

Some of the options have included the FTX Outlaw, heavily modified Mauler(for more speed),

and most recently the Absima Sand Buggy ASB1.

This last option is really tempting for me, I love the looks of it, however how easy is it to modify?

In particular the wheels and tires, are the wheel attachments standard? how easy would it be to find grippier chunkier tires?

Ive noticed a lot have 12mm hex but maybe that isnt the case with the Absima, and with those that come with the 12mm hex connection what other factors do I need to consider for a good fit?

Thanks for your time, I really cant wait to get started!
