  1. Wee update... Have fixed a few more things, a few little upgrades, mods, and tweaks. One annoying thing though is the rear drive shaft... The original snapped so I replaced it with the hardened one, which I read has a problem with pins coming loose. Before installing I reinstalled all the grub screws very tight with threadlock, but sure enough a couple runs later the pin came out. I reinstalled it with a spare pin from the original drive shaft, re-threadlocked the grubs, and again tonight its come out again -_- I think I read somewhere you can use some heat shrink, does this do the trick? What size would I need? Other than that its been a lot of fun, will be nice when I can eliminate all the little things going wrong.
  2. It's been great so far, on the steep grassy beach dunes(the sand gets everywhere lol), forest hill climbs, and open hill muddy hill climbs, it handles climbs pretty well with proper throttle control. Sensored system would be nice though... Broken two spurs and the rear drive shaft so far. Have on order the hardened spur, the alu motor mount, the metal drive shaft, the carnage front sway bar, and some threaded rod to brace the rear shocks Also gonna try some m3x8mm countersunk screws to move the battery box to perpendicular over the centre transmission. All my tools are for motorbikes so I had to get creative with hex drill bits into socket adapters!
  3. Had a blast tonight doing a wee hill climb I normally would do on the dirt bike, was getting roosted by the outlaw lol. Hill climbs is really what I love, and if you're well placed I reckon you can keep damage to a minimum. From what I've seen the Outlaw seems to fit halfway between basher and crawler. I don't think its really designed for either but is suited for exactly what I'm interested in. With a few modifications... and maybe a sensored motor?
  4. So I got my first RC car yesterday and took it for a spin. I know how you're supposed to hold the controller, but for some reason I found it much easier reversing the steering and using trigger with right finger, and steering wheel facing forward in left hand. Anyone else do this, or seen anyone do this?!
  5. Had my first outing with it tonight, on the beach. Was good fun! Went through the 3250ma lipo in no time though. I definitely still want a Nitro, but at least with this i can have fun in forests without having to tell disgruntled dog walkers to foxtrot oscar
  6. I don't know the name so probably not! This is north west Scotland
  7. After several weeks of debating which RC car to begin with, I settled on the Brushless Outlaw(Rock Bouncer kit when I can spare the cash!). Can't wait to start making some videos, I've got everything to play with here, beaches, mountains, forests 😁
  8. I have had a bit of an RC obsession the past few weeks, and I'm on the verge of buying my first kit. Originally I was set on Nitro but realised that is not ideal for what I really want to aim towards, which is a rock bouncer like Axial Ryft or similar. Unfortunately at the moment I can't justify that kind of money, especially as a nub, so have been looking for an entry point. I've looked at options that I can gradually upgrade, then transfer parts over to an un-assembled rock bouncer kit. Some of the options have included the FTX Outlaw, heavily modified Mauler(for more speed), and most recently the Absima Sand Buggy ASB1. This last option is really tempting for me, I love the looks of it, however how easy is it to modify? In particular the wheels and tires, are the wheel attachments standard? how easy would it be to find grippier chunkier tires? Ive noticed a lot have 12mm hex but maybe that isnt the case with the Absima, and with those that come with the 12mm hex connection what other factors do I need to consider for a good fit? Thanks for your time, I really cant wait to get started!
  9. Thanks for the reply, I guess I would be treating it more like a rock bouncer and would try to minimize the amount of slow speed running. Really just wanted to know if it was possible!
  10. I'm looking to buy my first RC car, and I think it has to be Nitro. I love engines and working on them! My question is how do Nitro RC cars handle at lower speeds? Aside from a beach to play about on I would like to mess about on technical hill climbs and forests etc. This will probably require slower running for control, can Nitro do this or would it possibly burn the clutch? I'm not talking rock crawler slow, but slow., sometimes. Videos I see of people bashing Nitro cars the throttle always seems to be ON/OFF. Thanks for your time
