Thoughts? Wouldnt be my choice personally. Id definately be aiming for at least Lipo, hopefully Brushless too. Servo seems a bit over the top their too. I'm looking for something similar in design. Bit disappointed if that's what MS recommended to me.
Kpowell911
Itll be easy if youre willing to use multiple shops as opposed to one? Especially if youre willing to import from other countries? Does it HAVE to be a kit? Edited January 31, 2021 by Guns
Kpowell911
https://www.modelsport.co.uk/arrma-typhon-4x4-v3-mega-550-brushed-buggy-rtr-green/rc-car-products/1331726 Get a lipo and lipo charger. Accept that its not going to perform as good as your Big Rock, but really learn how its built etc, pull it apart etc. Then go brushless when funds allow? Nesiah
The idea behind the kit is to help me understand how it's built, and for me and my partner to do together. Doesn't have to be from MS, ill get what ever I need from anywhere, bangoood, ect.. Just need a good chassis and electronics recommendations

Just need a good chassis and electronics recommendations I get that, but honestly the stuff thats avaliable in kit form, by the the time you've broought electrics for your budget is, in my opinion going to be far worse than the Arrma 3S RTR series. Kits arent really a thing any more, and when it is avalible as a kit, you pay more for the priviledge which is an issue on a budget. Its a very simple build process, but so is rebuilding the RC, and we would be able to help you if you got stuck, Just my opinion, on that budget, forget a kit
Nesiah
Tbh, won't take much to convince me to get another lol. And I absolutely love the look of the Typhon. I still have a 2s and 3s lipo and balance charger.

I'd look for a motor around 3600kvhttps://a.aliexpress.com/_mM7X03X Being honest I've never really liked the modelsport "combos" as you can spend slightly more and get loads more for you money. This would be my sub £200 list for a kit Kit - https://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=48850&gclid=Cj0KCQiAx9mABhD0ARIsAEfpavSwYkMkTvp6skFYzMaEQkZksu-1FHijfkge4iV8Pdf63SrZABZlfAYaAvg7EALw_wcB Most places don't have a great deal of stock so I'd be quick if you wanted one. This also comes with the tamiya Brushed / brushless ESC. Charger - https://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=52_354&products_id=35908 Will allow you to charge upto 4s lipos Battery - https://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=26_1790_1791&products_id=41050 On brushed you'll get over 30 mins run time Servo - https://www.modelshopleeds.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=41_55&products_id=34538 Bearings would be a great upgrade out of the box - https://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1508 Total Kit -£106 Charger - £41 Battery - £27 servo - £13.50 Bearings - £10 Total - £197.5 I know that's missing controller but I'm sure someone on here as a spare RTR controller that they could sell you (£15-30). From your quote above I wasn't 100 sure if you had a charger already, if that's the case you can knock £40 off of the total and get a brushless motor straight away. Even if you added another £25 for the controller you'd be pretty much on par with the modelsport one and from the get go you'll be running lipo and have equipment you can grow into. You'll also need to add another few quid for spray pain, But for overall bashing and long term ownership of go for the bigger arrma like @Guns suggested. So this sounds good. Which brushless motor? I have a charger but pretty certain is knackered, so I'll get a new one. However I do have a 2s and 3s bashing looks. Don't mind spending more if it's worth it. 200 was more of a guide so people weren't suggesting things at an obscene cost. I was about to order the typhon before I read this. You don't want a crazy KV motor in that buggy. Sub 4000kv would be fine. I'd be in two minds, between the two however for all new people to the hobby what I suggested would be ideal (in my opinion) but you aren't new. The tamiya would be good fun however you'll have limited upgrades going forward and it would be as good at bashing. Between the two you won't go wrong
xMullerTx
Hi guys this has really helped me to understand what I would need to put together my first car. Any recommendations for controllers I should get to go with the parts you mentioned above Alex? Cheers.

Glad the links helped, worse thing is when people just saying buy this buy that but don't tell you where from .

Rebel158
How serendiptitous! I'm in the market for exactly the same thing! I'm thinking along the lines on the Tamiya Sand Viper which is based upon the TT-02 chassis, which I understand to be the best of the lower end / budget bunch, which loads of hop-ups available. It can be had for approx £120 with ESC or £109 without. I may have misunderstood the base spec but it appears that as standard that it comes with decent shocks and a full bearing setup. I take that to mean fully ball raced, or are they of a lesser spec? Assuming the bearings are up to it, as a base spec build you then have £91 left to play with, and with all good projects you should assume a 10% overrun budget, so add an extra £20 😉 so that's £111 left in the pot. Assuming I go for the non ESC version (this allows me to put something a little more capable, and scalable in, and perhaps an ESC/Motor combo) I then need to consider the following: ESC Motor Receiver I think think the bodeyshell already comes prepainted, and I already have Lipo 2s and 3s packs, along with a charger and a Spektrum DX2E, so I would only need an additonal reciever unit. Should be doable for £200 -£220 all in 🤗 Normally I would look at HobbyKing for a budget ESC/Motor setup but they apperar to be out of stock on a number of items. What would you guys pair with this setup n terms of ESC/Motor. I'd want to go brushless, no more than 3s.
