Construction for spitfire wings 1/9th scale

Hi everyone, I am currently building a spitfire and now need to design the wings. My goal is to build it as light as possable yet still have strength. The wing stricture i want to use is spar and ribs.

The first question I have is aluminum/fiberglass tube vs Ibeam wooden spar for the wings. What is the strongest for the weight. 

For the ribs, Balsa vs birch ply. 

Should i cover the wings in wood veneer or are there beter options. Really appreciate any reply.
