Apprentice first flight ended badly

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Took the apprentice out for a flight today and it ended quite badly. I couldn't seem to get it under control and after 45 seconds disaster hit the ground 3/4 throttle. Destroyed the cone, engine mount and slight damage the the elevator.

Not too bad i guess cost me

ok what you have there is someone shouting (not helping) lol  also to fast  and pulling up way to much also a lot of panic.  you should go to the end of the field and take off then cut power and land again do that a couple of times to start with

very good assessment mate

I have to admit i was nervous before i took off and i was panicking, i was using 3/4 throttle but it seemed to be bombing around everywhere. I also have to realise that i don't need it to be clear on the ground as i am flying in the air, i seem more pre-occupied with where i need to set down as oppose to flying in the air. I think i may get the SAFE version just to get the feel of it and what i will say is i can fly it all day long on the flight simulator its completely different in real life

  • 3 weeks later...

in the simulator your running without any wind.

set the sim up to have around 1ms of wind in a variable pattern.

now have a fly around, it should be alot differnet with computer throwing random breezes around.

dial the speed up untill it matches roughly what you fly in.
