L90 BCM
So I have just brought my first scx-10 I used to have a losi micro crawer but this one came up at the right price so I snapped it up Here's the only pictures I have Question time I have been searching different things all day but i fall short as allot of the things i research have threads from months and months ago. i want to change battery's to lipo ( had them on my micro crawler ) so ill need a new esc, i also want to upgrade everything to be at least 4 channel and water proof. will be after a new motor aswell as i just like the sound of brushless so basic question is what would you guys go out and buy for your scx-10 with all the latest stuff out, ie motor, esc ... Also where is best place to get myself some kits with scx-10 bits in , a new front axle/ just the ends as i want 4 wheel steer, and where can i get spur gear and pinons from (do I need metal ?) loads of questions, please answer what you can. Thanks Ben
mini-z-awd
you could try a guy called rc bitz on ebay and if you go brushless you would really need a sensored system as sensorless wouldnt be too good for slow crawling as it will be abit jittery at slow speeds but some people do fit the traxxas brushless system and its waterproof also get a wp servo i would go hitec hs-5646 or the hs-646 i think is the other one and don`t bother with the savox 0231wp servo`s

The Dark Knight
If you're thinking about going brushless, it'd be highly recommended to get a sensored system. I've been really happy with my Hobbywing Justock esc with a Much More Racing Fleta ZX 21.5t brushless motor. I've recently bought another brushless motor to try out too, a Vampire Racing 21.5t along with an optional high torque rotor.
L90 BCM
Thanks for the replys, as I am new to this I'm not sure what's good or bad I just herd brushless and thought it must be the best lol I am open to any recommendation you might have, current motor is a 55t and it's very slow, with not the best crawl/slow urn capabilitys unlike my little 90t in my micro Thanks Ben

Duncp
The HPI Saturn is cheap and cheerful, I found it lacking in torque. I'm Running a rc4wd rebuildable and a brood specter, both 35t and I cant fault either of them really. Decent torque and wheel speed.
L90 BCM
So a 35t is a good place to start then, would that be a bit slow tho slow though as stock is 27t ? also would it be wise wot change the gear to metal, ie pinion and spur. also what is better spektrum dx4s, or fataba 4pls ? as i need a 4 channle trasnmitter to suite the 4ws ? Thanks Ben
Duncp
To be honest you don't need to change the gears to metal, so long as the slipper clutch is set up correctly you shouldn't have any problems. The 35 is a bit slower than the 27, but it does have more torque. I can't comment on which is the better transmitter as I have a spektrum 2 channel, it's all I need. I would take it out and run it, see what you like about it and then change what you don't like, no point spending a load of cash just for the sake of it. That is a good point I have been out with it and am not 100% with the initial take up of the power, and it is a bit to slow top end for my liking, does crawl good though. After watching a few videos i think i want to put a 2 speed transmission in it, even though is is a silly priced. and couple it to a waterproof brushed 35t motor with a waterproof esc, just need to find a matching 35t motor and esc that are water proof Edited December 6, 2014 by L90 BCM

Duncp
I'm running the mtronics rock c in mine, I've never had an issue with it. I'm also running 2s lipo. I had a 55t in mine when I first got it, it only lasted a couple trips out before I got bored with it. Although the 35t isn't fast, it is quicker than walking pace. L90 BCM
Their is to many to choose from lol. Is the quicrun 1060 instant reverse ? as it does look quite good for the money. ?as for motors is the rebuildable 35t rc4wd ok under water as the back end looks a bit exposed ? Duncp
Mine regularly goes through water and it just keeps going.

L90 BCM
if you do get a quic-run remove the forward brake reverse pin and you`ll have the drag brake working and move the other pin to lipo if your using lipo batts yep i will do so, i presume they are the 2 jumper pins that come with it, with the diagram on the top. and i will be running a lipo but yet again i am choosing which one to get and a charger to suite lol

tonysmini
That is a very tasty looking D90, looks to have s few mods already done, have you got your hands on it yet? I was thinking, rather than 4ws, try under/over drive gears in the axles. The different gearing makes the front axle turn slightly quicker and pulls the truck around rather than trying to push itself around. MTronics RockC and a decent 35t motor will give you the best mix of torque and speed.
