MMC3'S MK2 Escort : PICTURE HEAVY

MMC3

Recommended Posts

Thought ill give you some updates, not much has happen on the car as ive been occupied with other things but I did finally get rid of all of that underseal in the boot and have gave half of it a new lick of paint :) Also some one I know is coming to have a look and see what he can do with the paint work where it has gone off with the rust underneath, areas are both rear pillars, right rear wheel arch lip, bottoms of both front doors and quarter panels and below the rear bumper. Hope I can do the prep work to save some cash but he will  have to do the painting. Also got some nice rally mirrors as well,  Ive ditched the old brown vinyl center console along with the two right hand stalks on the steering column for a sexy new gp4 rally escort center console and lots of switches to go with it.

had those mirrors on a mx5, couldnt see poop out of em

for a mk2 escort a more classic bullet style mirror would of been apt

was thinking about the silver bullet style but they have limited vision as well, these new mirrors are convex so its not that bad. Only got them because rally car ha ha

Why a copy rear light over an OEM part? Surely the copy cheapens the originality of the excellent donor car?

the part is an exact replica so you can only tell if it is a copy if you take the light off and look at the back.

Finally I have done the two coats of paint over my whole floor pan apart from the rust repair section, so now the next step is getting a quote on some carpet and then send some of it of to Shaun so he can bind it up.

So you better buy some blue thread Shaun ha ha

just a little update as ive been out all day and just only spent 10mins doing this but a while back I purchased a nifty little non-slip tray for putting things in like spare change, so I got out the 5mm riv-nuts and fitted it up, I think it turned out alright and should look ok when the carpet is in :)

are those plates for show`s only as your supposed to have the company who made them names on them for road use well it used tobe that way i guess it could have changed again

well they are show plates as I had them made up by a man in a van at Santa Pod, and you are right they are meant to have the company who made them but you cant really even tell as the surround covers up most of the area that they would be any way, soooooo hopefully I wont get pulled over for them....

You could ware a good mask but your best bet is a very well ventilated area, remember the fumes are heavier than air!

Haven't done any updates in a long time mainly as ive just been taking the car to bits and stripping the bay ready for some more paint but i have a couple things planned. After reading the Octobers edition of classic ford on page 28 was a mint mk2 harrier and Christmas is coming so ive got my self some fiberglass 1/4 bumpers and full width fiberglass rear bumper read for a quad spot setup on the front, getting some good cibie oscar look alikes so that should snaz the fron up a bit. Also thinking about an ashely exhaust system to go in as well. Have a pic of the harrier and also some surplus wiring attached under the dash ha ha.
