Hello all.

I have not been on here for a while and I am now starting to get back into the hobby. I need to build a quad copter capable of lifting 500 grams to 1kg. I have been reading Tims quad build thread and would his set up be sufficient? I am looking to mount a special camera and different lenses mean that It can weigh anything from 500 grams to 1kg. Could someone please advise me on a set up. I am looking to spend no more than

my quad weighs in a 1.3kg fully loaded, it carrys a gopro like camera (100g)

its flight time is short at around 10-15 mins max.

there are quads that will lift a kilo payload but your looking into a bigger machine with more cost.

simple build cheap but cost can spiral.

400kv motors these run around 20-30 each

14 inch props x4

25amp esc's x4

kk2 flight controller ( lcd version)

frame is key here, its need to be light weight, so carbon rod/square tube.

a smallish center plate to hold the large X arms.

now once built, you need to work on a battery mod.

battery wise you want around 10,000mah , this setup will keep you airborne for over an hour possible more

in a stable hover. carry wise its going to have the lift but that hover time is going to come way down to like 20mins

30mins pushing with a dslr under it.

brainwise you can get away with a cheapy kk2, but for added efficencey you could add the naza m lite and have a gps position hold

and atti mode handy for long duration/video /camera work
