So a little review of the FXX...

I got down to Soul again yesterday for a full day and evening of drifting fun, me and Ben set off about half 10ish and once there started getting the FXX to at least run without being totally uncontrollable like it was when I ran it for all of 5 minutes at WRCC a few weeks ago.

Taking advice from James I adjusted various things on the chassis including the following -

- spacing out the front track width with a 2mm spacer (the HT setup on the FXX is a bit different hence the need for spacers)

- Mounting the front shocks literally vertically (looks odd but this probably made the single biggest difference for me)

- Mounting the rear shocks as flat as they'll go...with the FXX's shock mounts they've added even more holes (a row at the top and another row below) so mounting positions are ridiculous, so many to choose from!)

- Spent a lot of time playing around with throttle EPA, started at a crazy 30% and went up to 75% in 5% increments and ended up settling on 55% for a nice balance

- Moving the rear lower arm pin into the top hole of the KPI knuckle on the rear (there are two and out of the box it comes in the bottom hole)

- Moving the rear camber turnbuckle into a different position, on the inside mount I put it in the inner most hole and on the outside mount I put it on the outer most hole, from there I toned the camber right down to give a solid and even contact patch on the GA26 rears

- Also had a nightmare with my steering always turning to the right...simple I hear you say? Oh no! It isn't just a case of adjusting the steering trim on the controller as the gyro doesn't allow it so it needs to be done via adjusting the servo horn position (45 degrees) and adjusting the steering position directly on the gyro (which isn't the easiest thing to adjust in the world, quite fiddly). I'd definitely like to see some kind of digital gyro whereby adjustments and gains can be adjusted by the press of a button from MST at some point!

- Dialled in a tiny bit of toe out to the front

- Rotated the gyro upside down (so the stickers are upside down), we think they stuck the stickers on the wrong way round at the factory, this was actually the first thing I did yesterday and it meant I could drive in a straight line then spin on the spot, as opposed to just spinning on the spot straight away, to give you an idea just this little bit of extra improvement makes you smile as you know you're starting to get somewhere!

So after about 8 hours of tinkering James had a go on mine and managed to get it round the track...I knew the chassis was now capable so if it would't go round it was purely down to me...

One thing I've learned with the FXX, it's 80% throttle control and 20% steering, you really do need to be light (even with my EPA knocked right down!).

Within about 20 minutes I was going round the track in a fairly decent way and had the biggest smile on my face. Anyone that's seen RWD knows how good it looks and I can't stress enough how much fun it is, ten fold over CS drifting.

It's ridiculously slow and I think a lot of people thought I just had a dreadful CS car that was ridiculously slow, you're constantly getting in the way of the CS guys (i'd say CS is triple as fast as RWD) so common courtesy is needed from both sides, they need to understand RWD is slow and RWD guys need to get out of their way when possible and let them past, something I think everyone at Soul will quickly.

In summery, RWD really is where it's at, ridiculous fun and I can honesty say I will never pick up my MS01 and run that when the FXX is sitting there, ever.

Roll on Sundays comp at Soul!
