Brandon
Oh I love fpv! Got a few fpv vehicles and now the wr8 is one of them. I haven't taken this out yet as I just finished mounting everything up, but I will try and get a video up once I take it out.Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk
Brandon
So I haven't had the chance to take mine out yet due to the rain and the fpv gear not being waterproof at the time. So today I waterproofed the fpv transmitter and camera and made up a splash guard that hopefully will somewhat protect the camera from dirt and debris hitting the lense.Definitely not pretty but hopefully it will work Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

All my parts are jazrider which I've had on for a few years now and so far haven't broke 1 part of it. The expensive upgrades are the hpi upgrades. For the suspension you can look for the proline powerstrokes front shocks which is the most common shock upgrade. For cheaper suspension, I've gone for the fastrax 85mm adjustable shocks which are decent but next time I would go for the longer ones. The pinion gear you can fit a large as you can get. I've got a 25t pinion and it fits no problem. What 3s lipo do you have?Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

At the moment i am looking for Overlander 3s lipo battery. By the way, you know them fastrax 85mm adjustable shocks - did you put x4 of them front and back? Which ones would you go instead? Brandon
No worries [emoji106] At the moment I am using a 4000mah 3s but I am able to fit a 5000mah 4s as I 3d printed myself a new battery tray. For the shocks I used 4 of them front and back. As they have 2 sizes for front and back. 84mm and a longer size. The shock shaft is slightly smaller than standard but the quality is much better, so the larger ones would be better.Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

So having longer size of shocks will lift the actual car a bit higher? Which ones would you go for instead of the one you have?
Brandon
Yeah but only so far. You can adjust the height by moving the shocks at different mounting holes. The ones I currently have will be ok for me at the moment but the shocks bottom out before the chassis hits the floor. So next time I would try these https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=427695

Thnx! Edited November 8, 2020 by raf1ckk
Brandon
Hello! For the brake disks, I've never used them before but the hpi wr8 is true 1/8th scale but is more of the 1/10th scale. They should fit but I won't be able to say for sure. The tyres that fit the wr8 rims are 57X80mm.I have bought wheel and tyre set from ebay which were made to fit the wr8 for about £15 and they are very decent tyres.Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk
raf1ckk
Great, cheers! By the way these are the parameters you normally see on the advert: Overall diameter: 110mmWheel diameter: 88mmOverall width: 42mm or similar... Can you show which tyres you bought? The thing is ... i want to leave my wheels and just bought a set of tyres... Do you know where to buy just tyres? Will all these tyres be alright for my wheels? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tyres/rc-car-categories/9960/996010&ManufacturerID=18&MSAttributeID[58]=973 Cheers. Brandon
For the hpi wr8 rims, only the wr8 tires will fit. The off road rims have a slightly wider width and only the off road tyres fit them. The tarmac and gymkhana tyres will fit the gymkhana rims. The onroaf rims are 1.9 and the offroads are 2.2. I'm sure there are other tyres that will fit them rims, but I haven't tried any others. These are some of the tyres that will fit.https://www.modelsport.co.uk/tyres/rc-car-categories/9960/996010&ManufacturerID=18&MSAttributeID%5B58%5D=973?products%5Bquery%5D=hli%20wr8%20tires%20Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

In theory all 1/10 buggy tires will fit wr8 on road rims, one thing to be aware is outside diameter (anything above 85mm od will look out of scale and you risking damaging bodyshell). Only tires for 1.9 rims that I'm aware of are HB beams (discontinued and hard to find in Europe )https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HB-Racing-61757-Beams-SC-Tires-Pink-Super-Soft-Hot-Bodies-Shortcourse-Truck-/283970819983?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10 Edited November 14, 2020 by DougE Add link

mightybart
This was the first attempt, just a proof of concept, and yes it does work! I ran it a couple of times and it eventually broke (there was too much flex where the servo sits). Now I'm about to test v2. So far I tested it only with a stock diff setup (should be 100k oil), I'm interested if it's going to work with a thicker fluid... It's especially fun on loose/low grip surfaces, it also works on tarmac but in general, I find it very hard (almost impossible) to drift with the stock tires on dry tarmac. They are just too grippy. I'll post a video once I manage to assemble the new print.
