Vac forming bodyshells

i see this like movie copying, in the way that if you buy the original you can make a backup copy for your self....that being said i've had a shell sent to me that i think was a mould, it wasn't anywhere near as flexible as other shells i've had of the same make, part of it also shattered, not like lexan at all

tjust a thought if you made a car say a beetle but its was your own design but it resembles a Volkswagen wont the car company themselves come after you?

Yes, that has actually happened with at least 2 RC companies in the last 5 years. They each made a body for a rock crawler and a Revo which were obviously ''inspired'' by the Beetle but had no reference to being a a VW Beetle. VW took them to court and won. Only Tamiya, HPI and Pro-Line have successfully obtained proper licenses to make VW bodies for RC use in recent years, and all have had to have their designs vetted by Volkswagen before being allowed to go on sale. Other companies making unlicensed VW bodies will probably have some solicitor letters from Wolfsburg on the way.
