Known as something else too. "Hypochondriasis"

That is pretty narrow minded mate. You have no idea what this guy might be going through.

I don't think there would be this problem, and videos about it if it was purely down to people being Hypochondriacs.

It's a similar thing with depression. I have several friends that are clinically depressed, and lots of people just say that they just need to get over themselves, but I have been very depressed before and it's really not that simple. Mainly down to anxiety, and for reasons you don't know you just feel down.

Ever woken up one morning and just felt happy? For no reason at all but you just feel good.

Well, depression is similar, except the opposite and it is relentless. With the fact it goes on so long you can loose hope and it builds on its self. Also alot of depression is due to chemical defficiencies such as Serotonin which helps regulate anxiety. So it's not that they aren't willing to try to change, it's that they physically CANNOT.

If it was then do you really think it would be a problem?

I've never heard of this Chronic Pain Syndrome but it sounds like a nightmare mate try I can try to sympathize with that. Especially with the fact lots of people don't believe you, since you can't exactly measure pain, only take their word for it :/

Look dude think what you want but you try being in so much pain that you either cry or scream at the top of your voice, And how would you feel if you had been training for 4yrs to become a top mechanic to be told you might have to change careers, then you will see what i have to go through....us sufferers don't shout out as we know there is no cure we are also known as the secret sufferers just because we get on with it but ive had this for about 4 and half yrs of pain how would you fill...If you are at the next Musk meet i will be happy to luagh in your face when your car breaks.... :alien3:

Coping with pain's always a hard one as different people have different tolerances. Personally ive dislocated my left knee 4 times (joint weakened after the first time) and ive gotta be honest, that hurts like hell, more so when its put back in... I consider myself to have quite a high tolerance, the last time it happened i was in the middle of an airsoft game and i was about 20 foot behind someone about to get the drop on them when i tripped. Hit the deck without screaming, shot the guy then kindly asked him to help me back to the safe zone ;)

As for how i deal with it, putting your mind elsewhere is my main way out, focus on what youre doing or if your doing nothing in particular, come up with something, do long division in your head, whatever it takes.

With the chronic aspect, i suffer with tinitus so if you know a way to handle that let me know... its a right pain when trying to get to sleep

What hurts exactly ( silly question maybe )?

I've had 2 bouts of kidney stones ( pain 2nd only to child-birth ), the 2nd one just a few days ago and believe me, when you are in so much pain you cry and nothing you do can stop it hurting, it's no laughing matter.

There may be specialists out there with some knowledge and therapy or treatments they can suggest, so it's worth looking around, even if it's an overseas Doctor. Failing that, certain painkillers can work on the central nervous system to block the pain receptors very effectively, but the side affect is ( amongst may possible ones ) that the 'good stuff' is highly addictive, so Docs here atleast are reluctant to prescribe it quite often ( Codeine based drugs, or Opiates as they are known )...

im in the same boat as you jay, had a car accident in 2000, was ran into the back of and pushed accross a pedestrian crossing, since then my back and sciatica (dont know how its spelt) play up, if i bend down funny, stretch in a funny way basically anything other than bolt upright and laid flat and it goes. i get bruising either side my spine when it plays up too and its agony.......again too much in the way of excercise is out of the question so the weight has piled on. if i do go to the doctors, its stop smoking, lose weight..........oh if only it was that easy, if i eat less id starve.....

but people cope with pain in different ways, hot baths sometimes help, i have prescription ibuprofen 400mg and it now takes 3-4 at a time to ease the pain although its recommended 1, 3 times per day.

its not nice, i would not wish it on my worst enemy. best part of it, it was my late grandad that ran into the back of me.........

Just remember though fella's that in this day and age you will be seen for being a scrounger if cant work or claiming. :whistling:

My old dear was accused of scrounging once,,till the xray was show. People couldnt understand how she was still standing.

Well she wernt for long as she is now chair bound with pretty much no spine left due to scoleosis...Diagnosed at 11 she now 60..Worked all her life till she collapsed due to her discs crushing her nerves..Now she has all the associated problems that come with it,,and a chair for bombing about in.

So due to it not being seen its means it dont exist..Hmmmmm

Anyway best of luck to all you's above fellas i hope it pans out for you all as best as it possibly can...

Sadly for the op we live in a highly ignorant society...

Sadly this so true.. I was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Disease 3yrs ago.. Now the biggest problem i have is i cant tolerate the medication for treating this condition so have a hard time getting my condition under control when it flares up.. Now the big stigma is that cos we who are afflicted with an illness that is not visable to the naked eye does not mean we are not ill or suffering in some way... I get **** off people all the time as i cant work and deemed as un-employable cos of the nature of my illness..

I used to work for my local council and gave them 14 good years, the job i did payed well and my kids and wife wanted for nothing.. now i have nothing but my family (still makes me the richest person in the world in my eyes) and when i get people accusing me of skiving and leeching of society it makes my blood boil cos of there ignorance...

As for the orig OP ignore the immature uneducated people in this world.. everything comes full circle..

Mate i know were your coming from my missus has Trigeminal Neuralgia Aka The suicide disease and she screams in pain most of the time and she has been told she will have it for life and theres no cure well almost no cure....

Only op there is is a major op called Microvascular decompression and the skull has to be drilled and cut :shockingscary:

For years after the op you can be left with no feeling in your face, burning sensation, worse pain than previously, Vertigo where she would prob never walk again and the surgery only lasts for a year or so then the pain is back :shockingscary: :shockingscary: :shockingscary:

So its either pain or surgery with pain.

Some days she is so drugged up on epaleptic mediaction as this is only way to relieve pain but doesnt get rid of it mate she is like a zombie most days :shockingscary: :shockingscary:

I know were your coming from

I've got M.E. and one of the problems is Fibro Myalgia. I've been in constant pain for the past 10 years without even getting 30 seconds of relief. It rules your life. I've been on every pain killer medication going and nothing touches it. You would think that after 10 years you'd get used to it, but you don't.

Hate to agree but this is a real condition and thousands suffer from it. The pain can be very very intense and requires a lot of "pain management" via drugs, hypno-therapy and mental conditioning, 2 of which are not easy paths to go down.

I actually had a friend who had this when I was in Hospital last, needless to say she suffered like hell because of it and as a women had it in a place that if it were a guy then, well you get the picture.

(before someone points it out, it was a childrens hospital and i was 12yrs old)

People throw "Hypochondriasis" about like its no biggy. Real Hypochondriasis is more of a mental condition that effects behaviour aswell. its amazing how if theres nothing visually wrong with you, or people know little about your condition, your suffering from Hypochondriasis.

i was born with a rare defect due to being a premature baby and thru the fault of the hospital at the time I ended up with childhood Esophageal Varices. To put it in context, I was told that roughly at no given time is there anymore than a dozen or so cases in the world.

Anyways after my last op when I was 15yrs old, I was just about well enuff to return to school and do exams. Mid class on my 3rd day back I took unwell, probably due to 12inch scar running along my abdomen. All i remember really is being in agony.

So I was excused to go to my Principals Office as he had been in contact with my folks and following my case. Needless to say I nearly flew for him when he suggested it was all in my head. Thats from someone apparently educated and with the childs best interests at heart.

Which goes to show just how ignorant people can be.

Lol this is laghable.

When I was 22 I tore a Trapezius muscle in my neck. Was off work for 2 months. If i do alot of heavy lifting at work, like throwing around attick trusses or floor joists, im in pain for days, I dont Go around with my head hanging down telling everyone its some new made up desies called Pains desies. No I chuck a few painkillers down my neck and get on with it. Or a couple of years ago when A nail hit a knot in a peice of timber and went through my left hand. And having to reach down and stretch to grab my hand saw on the bench so i could cut out the nogging in the ceiling that i was nailed to. That was chronic pain. Or the constant pain I have in my right wrist and thumb joints, from years of handeling heavy powertools. But I don't go on youtube and make a sad video, or make a thread on a forum to try and get someone to feel sorry for me. The fact of the matter is Pain is Pain, my wrist and thumb are in constant pain I dont have "Chronic pain syndrome" i just have pain.

Heres a little tip for you. and all the other people that think Just because they have a little bit of pain, they must have a desies (oh and by the way that is what Hypochondriasis is). SEX. thats your answer, It is scientifically proven that sex releases endorphinsinto the the body, which Is basically your body's own painkillers. Sex also releases stress, And gives you something better to do than making stupid youtube videos.
