BryTXT1
Evening all I recently purchased a txt1 off ebay and im wanting to make it FAST, iv ordered some motors and esc etc but im really struggling to find hop up parts in particular a decent set of wheel wideners, id like to widen it by about 20mm each side, iv seen some RC4WD ones that look good but cant find anywhere to buy them, also seen some good looking stuff on thundertech racing but not sure the company is still running, and most things I do come across seem to be in states or in outermongolia, would be nice to get some from the uk, iv spent hours and hours looking and is getting a little boring now so any help would be greatly appreciated. id also like to get hold of a carbon or ally replacement radio tray as the stock one has all the fittings for the stuff I will be throwing in the bin.. I get the impression that a lot of the companies that made stuff for the txt are out of business and no one knew is making stuff as its discontinued? thanks for any help anyone can offer Bry
atom3624
Check out Ebay.com for the radio tray. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26737-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26735-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26736-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26732-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26738-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26740-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26741-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26742-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26739-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26729-bf18-20140118-02-shocks/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26733-bf18-20140118-06-spring-retainer/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/26516-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/27856-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/27855-/ A few photo during my build. johninderby
Just by coincidence I was about to put a set of wheel wideners that I had imported for my TXT-2 project up for sale when I saw this thread so I hurried up and put them in the sale section. Didn't need them after all with the increased offset of the wheels I'm now using. Not cheap admittedly, but they weren't cheap to buy in the first place what with the shipping and import duties and VAT. BryTXT1
That's weird I was just reading your txt 2 build... You'll have to excuse my lack of knowledge her as it's been about ten years since I got my tao4 so I'm pretty thick when it comes to this stuff now So will they fit straight on my txt 1 with standard wheels and are they 25mm each side?
johninderby
Yes they just fit onto the TXT 12mm hexes. The alloy adaptors are 14mm on the inside end so you'd use the 12mm to 14mm adaptors on that end then the TXT wheels would just fit onto the outer ends. The barrel nuts go through your wheels and screw onto the axle shafts. You could also replace the 12mm splined hexes on your TXT with 14mm ones if you wanted. They do add approximately 25mm to each side. John Edited August 11, 2014 by johninderby
atom3624
Mine's got 14 mm hexes from RC4WD which mate up to the alloys from ... RC4WD. If you look at the photos, the offset's so great, for me its too wide now to be fully realistic - not far off my LST2/Raminator or WideMaxx E-Maxx. WideMaxx was the original name for the wider E-Maxx, now standard, but I have 0.5" offset (+1" total) on my Maxx. Standard is a bit narrow and Tamiya MT's are more realistic than capable of bashing, but the TXT-2 isn't that bad. Al.
BryTXT1
I'm not worried about it looking scale, just going like f*** and looking cool How would you want paying for them if I took them off your hands??
johninderby
With the RC4WD alloys mine has just the right offset. Wouldn't want more offset with wheels/tyres that weigh 830 grams each anyway. Yes the Clods and TXTs are never going to be the best bashers, but that's not what it's all about. Love watching a realistic monster truck in action. BryTXT1
Next question... Has anybody fitted junfac 100mm piggyback shocks to they're txt or anything else to know if they're any good. atom3624
I think that's what JohninDerby fitted isn't it? I fitted the Tamiya ones - hunted 'best offers. Al.
johninderby
Mine were the Boom Racing ones. Very similar. They came with dual springs but I went with single springs as it suited the TXT-2 better. If I'd only used one shock per corner the dual spring set-up would have worked fine. The suspension feels really firm when you press down on it by hand yet the wheels still articulate very easily when you roll over something. The aeration plugs do allow you to adjust the rebound. I compressed the shocks fully before putting the plugs in to soften the rebound. I found that if you fit a small rubber O ring on the upper mounting bolt between the top of the shock and the chassis it stops the top of the shock from twisting yet it still allows enough movement. Don't tighten the bolt too much as you don't want to flatten the O ring completely. John
BryTXT1
How do they compare cost wise and are they available in the uk, I'm so impatient that I like to be able to order next day... Doing my head in waiting for my motors to arrive.. Do you know if changing to traditionall upright shock set up would help reduce the torque steer? Was also thinking of getting my old man to try and fabricate some more solid sway bars as he's far better at metal work than me Thanks for the advice all much appreciated
johninderby
The shocks came from China so a weeks wait I'm afraid. They were a bit cheaper though. Try searching for TopCad shocks as well. There's an Australian eBay seller that's quite good. There is an eBay UK seller that has the 90mm Boom Racing ones but that's the only size they have. The Junfac shocks are available in the UK, but at an eye-watering price. http://www.fusionhobbies.com/product/gm21007-gmade-xd-piggyback-shock-103mm-x2` I haven't even noticed torque steer, although there's probably some. No sway bars needed with the conventional shock mountings. There must be a reason why so many TXT-1s have gone to the conventional set-up. BryTXT1
Very nearly ordered them from fusion hobbies last night but then my sensible tight as a ducks ass head took over, girlfriends 7 months pregnant so should I really be spending hundreds of pounds on a monster truck, the answer of course is yes as obviously I'm building it for the baby when he's older... Had forgotten what the Junfacs looked like. Nice to hear its running well. I've still an entire garage to sort out, so it'll be a while before I eventually get mine going. 3S Castle http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390673481828?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I'll be running 2 of these. I'm using one battery to try to maintain the same power going to each ESC, but running 2x ESC and 2x 3800 kV 1410 5 mm shaft motors. Should have enough power! Would have saved a fortune just sticking to normal brushed! Al.

johninderby
Did txt 1 come with decent metal bearings or **** ones, doesn't look like bloke I bought its off done anything part from build it then use it a few times Originally just came with metal bushes rather than proper bearings. Proper bearings do make a real difference to how well (and fast) it runs. If yours still has the original bushes that would explain it being a bit slow. BryTXT1
Oh dear bye bye more money. Ever bought from http://www.asiatees.com? Are rubber sealed ones any good? They have some boom racing ones along with some other stuff I want but really don't need..
johninderby
For bearings go to RCbearings. Next day free delivery on bearings and they're top quality as well. Really helpful and friendly guy that runs it. http://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=Txt&product_id=307 Ruber shielded are better for keeping out water but metal shielded run slightly freer. I just usually get the the rubber shielded. Asiatees are very good though and delivery to the UK is 6 or 7 days. John
