Colicab
Well this is kind of been under wraps for a while. Xmas present to myself this year was a D8T. Always wanted to own this Truggy purely from the looks of it. The shell and everything is just amazing. Plan to update as I finish the project. Got a GX-7R - GO .21 on order and will be using the Twin outlet Buku Power pipe from my X1 aswell as Servos and possible my Long Life Clutch Shoes. (X1 is a right off at moment due to a bent chassis, need to get to local garage and see if they,ll bash it back) Anyways the parcel, one D8T and a set of Hpi Nubz Tyres Now to open the box Making a start on front end. Front diff in a secure At this point I got a little excited and wanted to see its wheel base. Tis massive compared to my X1 Buggy. Gotta love the Nubz Fuel tank in and started looking a bit Nitro Now for the Rear diff and arms Finally Centre diff and brakes aswell as the wing all mounted As shes stands now awaiting me to strip down my X1 and ofcourse for the engine coming this week. Shell wise Im going for a dark theme but a little undecided still as I was inspired by some folk on here to maybe get an Airbrush and have a go with that. Also sourced a couple of Scotland flags and a big tartan hand with the words "Up Yer Kilt" below. Tho we,ll see. More piccys as I go and once the rest of the bits come next week. Looking for a cheap as chips starter box / battery / charger combo as i have no clue. Had one linked on here but think I may need something 2nd hand. Skint after this one Edited January 30, 2011 by Colicab

Colicab
Nice paint work Jony. I posted these in another thread but so far Ive started work on the sketch and photoshop for some custome vinyls to use as a sort of all over wrap for the shell. i had thot about airbrush and may still buy one but for starter im over stretching with complexity a little. anyways pics of design ideas below this,ll be in white on black shell. will try to get work on it asap finish something final for the end of month then by march i shud see this project complete Edited January 31, 2011 by Colicab
Kpowell911
loving the logos. Technically, I could buy all the "T" parts fro my VE8 (arms, tunbuckles and CVD's?) and make my VE8 a truggy?

Colicab
Off work tomoz so gonna devote a day to gettin this as final as I can without servos (dont think the savox 12kg i use for ma throttle on the nosy is needed here things a beast to stop). Still to do - Clutch / Radio tray / Servos / Shell Im deffo gona go with the design idea above for the shell tho unsure wether to get a set in white or orange. Maybe both just to complement the Go engine a bit Going for a sort of SC truck look but with racing decals from Go, HB and Savox with my custom print underlayed on most of the shell. Have been toying with adding some 1/10th scale baja style lights (non working the ones I saw had a nice covered racing look to them) Might aswell try hunt down some black rims. Just grabbed the nubz as they were best pre-glued they had, so hopefully I aint regluing to much for break in / initial test runs. Only concern Ive got tho is getting the damn Buku pipe tuned to it. Gonna stick a Jp4 on to tune the engine then retune to the Buku pipe. (Its an insane pipe but if u dont tune it then its overheating time for the engine) Ooh orange shock socks anyone know where? Smithy111
is a .21 not a bit small for a 1/8 truggy?
Kpowell911
A proper .21 is more than enough for a Truggy!!
jony nitro
is a .21 not a bit small for a 1/8 truggy? 21 enngines are fine, you should see the Nova rossi engines Toro Nero range is even overkill
Colicab
.21 is more than enuff especiallyy the GO engine thats in now. max 40k rpm and a good 37k rpm running. My RS.30 only does 35k rpm with a max of about 37k. It creates lots more torque but thats not needed here. This D8T will be the truck I eventually race with and with the Buku working correctly it shud be a nippy we bugger. The only thing im a little wtf at is HPI`s insistance you usee a 13t clutch. tried a 20 and a 17 on it and each time they were too big to fit More pics etc next week once I get payed and order the last bits

HalloweenJack
Looking real good. Love to have a go at something like this myself, how has the kit been to build? Steve
Colicab
The kit was awesome to build. Its my 1st proper full kit. Ive stripped and rebuilt RCs before but never done one from scratch. Very easy IMHO and aside HPI not including steering posts (which they replaced free of charge after email) its been a joy to build Update: Forgot to order a charger for the 12v in the starter box doh!. Hopefully come Thursday and I,ll get this fired up Edited March 2, 2011 by Colicab

Very easy IMHO and aside HPI not including steering posts (which they replaced free of charge after email) its been a joy to build I have to admit, the idea of building one is very tempting. The thing that put's me off is the price of the kits and the fact that they seem to be aimed more at racers. Not interested in racing, just running my kits over the local park so something like this seems a little overkill. Wish something like the Trophy Truggy was available as a kit, that seems to be aimed more at the basher than the racer. Looking forward to your next update.
