  1. The mental health aspect is really interesting, for me personally tinkering and building helps curb ADHD boredom massively. Unless there's something to tinker or modify I get bored it's why the 8xe went within days of owning it, everything just worked nicely and no room to tinker with fixed mount etc. The 4.0T on the other hand and I'm all excited and feeling the buzz. @Kpowell911bless you and the Mrs, super kind and decent thing to do 👍🏽
  2. One came apart, but otherwise worn tyres are the best thing for tarmac, slicks! I run them until I see foam, have a set of betas that have had 6s through them for a year still going...
  3. Passed 3S testing, so onto 6S, passed with flying colours.
  4. Converted it to electric and added the following: - Losi HD diff inserts all round - Hobbywing Max8 G2 - Reds Racing 2800KV 4068 motor - 18T/45T spur (instead of the stock 52T, yep this is gonna fly!)
  5. It might be because I put buggy wheels on it just for the sake of pics 😂
  6. We had an exchange a while back in a thread where you said truggy is where its at and buggy is so 1990s, may be not in those exact words but I'm sure you said I must try a truggy... That and @Ant.p has also been telling me how awesome truggies are!
  7. TLR Losi 8ight 4.0 Nitro Truggy with a conversion kit, spare arms, shafts and two shells 😁
  8. Big cap pack, I know people say they're for racers and what not, but I've been running an oversized cap packs ever since my XR8 Plus couldn't handle 25/45T on 6S. Added cap pack and no more complaints, the complaints with a big pinion was cogging on sensored. The caps got way too hot, sharing the load with a cap pack I put together in a few minutes sorted it. I now run a pack on everything, I think it's letting me push limits...First thing I'm doing is soldering my cap pack to the Max8 G2 👍🏽
  9. Yes but you gave me some infinite wisdom many months ago...watch this space 😉😁
  10. Hahaha, I'll post a thread later on to gauge opinions on what it should go into...if RM don't fail me, another car joins the ranks today 😉
  11. Got this a few days ago...now confused about which car to put it in...
  12. Packed it up and now ready to say goodbye to Losi 8XE
  13. I use a 10bl120 in my losi rally X, the crazy thing is the 1/10 rally X is bigger than all my 1/8 buggies! Goes well on 3S without hiccups. Uhh would be helpful to explain why, well I bought it for £20 posted, used. 120a, 3S sensored ESC at that price point was a no brainer for me. @BigGinge It currently sits in a draw, it's used, I've coated the PCB with nail polish for waterproofing, you seem trustworthy enough that if you wanted to try it I'd lend you it to save you buying and trying!
  14. Cheers @Stormbringer and @Yrkoon, about to pop out for some grocery shopping then the girls are set to take it out for its first run. hopefully it won't fall apart.
  15. Worked on the TLR Losi 8ight XE Starting point, yay new metric drivers, should be a quick and easy job right......WRONG. I started taking off all the plastic inserts in the A-Arms, to replace with these TLR carbon beauties. I'm surprised how soft and flexible the plastic insert is, to the point where its clearly not adding any strenght but I guess the way they've "closed" the arms means better aerodynamics and keeps dirt out! As I started to screw them in, my 1.5MM metric driver died from its death. At this point, I was really annoyed, brand new tools can't even drive screws into plastic - whiskey tango foxtrot. I scrambled around for other tools. I then thought to myself, this set has no reviews, it's oddly a bit cheap for 18 drivers, could that be down to potato QC? Bingo, the metric drivers are in fact imperial, and the imperial drivers are in fact metric - thanks china QC. I started an amazon return and continued to work on the car. My phone blended in very well with the 8XE's carbon 😄 Mhmm, shiny and already has cat fur on it: Added 8XE TLR mudguards Well, what's this thing running on? Hopes and dreams? It needs a power plant! Oh hello Viper VF8 1900kv motor Next it was time for an ESC, I decided to go with the Castle Mamba Max Pro SCT I bought used a few weeks ago and never tested...Yes its the 1/10 version, but apparently good for 6S and 1/8 buggies if you stick to 4S and stay under a certain KV, can't remember the exact number, but 1900kv @4s is fine. Next, steering, I like my old Hitecs, so 5985 it is: My daughter is really taking an interest in this, so I've passed ownership of the 8XE to my wife to try and peak daughter's interest. And now ready to run, albeit with super dirty wheels. I should have taken a pic with a clean set...
  16. Radiolink RC4GS/RC6GS2 for a cheap setup with gyro and decent adjustability, Futaba 3PV if you want something nice but without spending over £100, although you could get more functionality with your money and not have to buy RXs at £40 a pop Dumbo RC if you want a functional tesco value type handset, they use Radiolink electronics. I own all the ones I've mentioned, the Radiolink's lack of auto turn off feature meant I was losing batteries, including lipos (as I had it powered off lipos) - that instantly became an issue for me (but this is more so a me problem). Also the grey looks so cheap, the black version which is the 4ch looks way more "premium". DumboRC - they work just fine, but when you have a nice RC car, then look and feel the Dumbo, it just feels wrong. Futaba 3PV - one of the main reasons I went for it was the auto shut off feature, however its been absolutely flawless, doesn't feel or look cheap and its comfortable to hold, I forget I'm holding it.
  17. You were never a bother to me, you just came across like a bot. I asked what I, and presumably others, were thinking. It's interesting how you were able to respond in a direct manner this time, without going on about random stuff or using lots of emojis.
  18. Speaking of the new set I got...the 1.5mm drivers head got damaged really quickly. It could barely screw into plastic... I done an Amazon return...then it hit me, have they mixed up the marking on the drivers...and voilà, almost by magic I can now screw inserts into my a-arms...They have marked imperial as metric and vice versa ...
  19. Hey I've got one of these, I took my late father in law's tools and have exactly the same one. I was looking at that thinking " I have one, or possibly more of these! When I saw the picture I freaked out for a moment thinking "why is my ancient tool posted online" 😂 I took my late father in law's toolbox and it has some really old goodies in it. Edit: woah double quote. Too much effort to edit on mobile...
  20. As long as they last 2-3 rebuilds I'm happy. No reviews on this set, hence I saw it as a gamble, but I'm hoping at this point the far East is able to produce stuff at reasonable quality!
  21. Buy whatever is the cheapest and buy some thermal paste to apply between the motor and heatsink, otherwise it's almost a pointless exercise. I've tamed a 2800kv 4068 motor on 6S using this method. Zd racing dual fan heatsink and whatever half decent well reviewed thermal paste was on offer.
  22. I keep losing small tools, such as Allen keys, socket heads and have gone through a few sets that are scattered around... So I bought some special people safe T handle set for £30 off Amazon, 18 piece set of imperial and metric drivers... The 1/16 and 1.5mm long sides are a bit too flexible for my liking, but the short end is strong and allowed me to make progress on 8XE... I know I could have bought just the drivers I need individually, but with a 330 mile move on the horizon the bigger drivers will help dismantling furniture etc.
