  1. Thanks Bert_w164 much appreciated. That Kraton does look ace but I think I just want a truck that looks and jumps like the ones on tele (or youtube nowadays). I really don't want to do any large jumps, just scale replica jumps like the real ones if that makes sense. Thank you to everyone who has given advice - I love this forum!❤️ Here's my short list so far - in no particular order- additions/deletions/battle-advice always appreciated. Losi baja rey 1/10 (the body shape/style doesn't quite look like the real ones but it is close) Arma Senton Traxxas Slash - though there are sooo many models to choose from it's very daunting. HPI Jumpshot SC v2 flux Associated Method Race Pro SC10 I'll check out some more reviews and report back at the weekend. Cheers
  2. Thank you GMBallistic, that's good advice - I'll check it out. Much appreciated. Cheers, Johnny
  3. Thank you kindly - that does look cool - I'll check out some reviews about it. Cheers, Johnny
  4. Sorry, for a new truck. Ongoing costs I don't mind as long as it doesn't get too expensive. I guess that driving on tarmac will eat up tires. I do already have chargers and 1 lipo (3s) and a handful of nimh batteries. The budget is just for the car, but I don't mind saving up and getting new bat/chargers the next month if that's what it takes. Thanks. Johnny
  5. Hello friends, Youtube suggested this channel called Stadium super trucks (link), which I've fallen in love with. Now I'm absolutely fascinated with how well the trucks jump and land like a cat, with no bouncing after they land, it's brill. It's great too how a wheel lifts off the ground when they're powering through a corner. I'd like to get an rc that replicates the full size ones, drive around on tarmac and do some small jumps. There's so many models to choose from my head is spinning from looking through rc trucks for sale. I'm not after something that can go 900Mph and jump over the moon, just 1->2ft high jumps at max and racing around some tarmac. Budget is up to 500 but if something fits the bill for less that would be great. If you could only buy one rc for this which would you get? Any advice would be appreciated as it's so confusing. Many thanks in advance. --Johnny
  6. I seem to have this knack of discovering rc cars that I want which are no longer being made/sold. Last year I discovered the Tamiya low ride pumpkin and really wanted one, checked online = nope. A few months later I was reading about the Tamiya Honda City turbo and fell in love, none available seems like I was too late to the party- damn! Same for the pink limited edition Hornet! Has this ever happened to you? Your stories will make me feel better. --Peace
  7. Many thanks Ant, that's solved it. Your advice and that video really helped me. I tried out connecting the balance cable as per the video and it fits. I'll turn it on in the morning and get it charging. Thanks again, I really appreciate it
  8. Hello friends, I've been running a nimh battery in my Hi-Rock that came with it for a few months and now am feeling ready to try my lipo in it. I've got a Overlander VSRmini charger and a Core-RC Lipo, and have read the included leaflets trying to understand what I need to do, but have got really confused and would very much appreciate some advice. I haven't connected the lipo yet as I think I'm missing a cable for my charger or possibly I've bought the wrong battery (or something else!) I'm not used to batteries that have more than 1 group of wires coming out of them. The main cable I can identify and looks like it would connect up to the charger - but the other cable bunch on the battery with the white connector - I really don't know what this is. Have probably read too much too soon but I think I might be a balance cable - but this isnt the same size as the balance port on the charger. The manual says "When charging Lithium batteries, always ensure that the balance connector is connected FIRST in the sequence. " Did I buy the wrong battery or do I just need an appropriate balance cable adaptor to go from my battery to the charger? Or is the balance mode for if you have more than 1 battery pack and want to charge more than 1 battery at once? I have read the "LiPo, the big guide thread" but sorry my head is spinning and I'm still confused. Please can a kind peep hold my hand and let me know what I should do? Thanks!
  9. Hello all, Just saying hello as I've joined the forum. When I was a kid several decades ago my dad bought me a Tamiya Thunder Dragon for a very special reason and that was my first proper rc car - it was the best present in the whole world and many times more expensive than the gifts I would normally get. I loved that car and drove it constantly. I bought upgrades that were for the Terra Scortcher to have dual front shocks, ball bearings, parma motor (I think, sorry - it has been a long time) extra anti roll bar, 1400-scr(i think) battery. Drove that thing in the snow, rain, mud, everything - it was incredible and never let me down. Worked doing a paper-round and washing cars in my neighbourhood to fund upgrades and also to eventually save up for a Tamiya Lunchbox. That thing was so fun, though thanks Dad for crashing it on the first go and scuffing up the body work ha ha. As is the way of things after about 5 years I sold all my rc stuff to help fund my first computer for college/uni and I'd always regretted doing so. Wind on a couple of decades and I've got myself a carreer and am settled but still thinking about my beloved Dragon, so of course went on to ebay and picked up a busted one, then spent the last few years rebuilding it and picking up parts to make it brand new. Tamiya have since reissued the 'Dragon - which if I'd known I could have saved a load of time and money but I wouldn't trade the fun I've had hunting for and picking up parts for it. Apart from being painted it is pretty much finished so I've nearly completed my mission to get a mint 'Dragon. I feel like Sam from Quantum Leap, putting right a wrong I did many years ago. Am hoping to get it painted in the coming months and then it can go on the shelf. Very much considering buying the re-issue so I can run it and not worry about getting it scratched up, while leaving my rebuild all lovely. Here's a couple of pix of my rebuild attached to this post I hope. I'm sure you know what happens next.... I started looking at what the RC scene has done since I was last in it and am amazed at all the new tech and things that have come since - lipo batteries, electronic speed controllers, led lights on cars, cars that climb rocks - oh boy this all looks amazing. No doubt the same as many others of you life has been very hard recently so to cheer myself up I have bought an FTX Hi-Rock and a Tamiya rally Beetle mfx01 from Modelsport. I had been watching videos of rock crawlers and figured that was something I was interested in - much more my pace now and I'm very glad I did. There was a broken part on the Hi-rock which Modelsport resolved within 24 hours replacement part in my hands - incredible service A+ - Thank you so much ModelSport!!! I was then able to drive the Hi-Rock for the first time and the smile on my face tells you everything you need to know - it was definitely worth it. Love driving the car slow and steady, and the smile at seeing it slowly and easily climbing over the step into my garden was massive!!! Amazing! -- Not sure if Tamiya-Legends or Mr Tomley from youtube would ever read this but wanted to say thank you to you too - Your videos are ace and have brought me back in to rc and make me happy. Thank you. That's it - sorry for long story. --Fremen p.s - I do want to do some upgrades to my Hi-rock in the future - can a kind person let me know which sub-forum would be best to ask my questions when I get to that stage?
