  1. I was looking and saw the vitavon panhard mount (VITTRX4PANHARD) My only dislike of that is butchering the existing fender but I suppose there has to be a compromise... On an unrelated topic... Can anyone suggest some nice beadlocks but in plastic? I don't want to add weight for the motor to have to spin...
  2. I think that's the one I've got... bought the optional temp sensor strap too for piece of mind. Cracking for the money (lipo newb)
  3. What body is that if you don't mind me asking? (brand etc)
  4. I think I'm now sorted on the motor/centre diff mount... Any suggestions from anyone on a cheap/budget brushless combo?
  5. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.... I did just buy a new body and was hoping not to cut the fenders but no such luck... (the spec for the shell listed the widest point which would have worked but that's not what the arches are 😞 ) Will just have to keep an eye out for a cheap set of fenders to cut or bite the bullet and buy new narrow ones... but it just seems that everyone wants to add £4-5 minimum to post them and I know it would only cost like £2 to post. (yes I'm tight but I've become a poor student again) I had wondered about using the longer links from the defender as a cheap small lift kit... as the Traxxas long arm kit is just mind blowingly expensive for what it is
  6. A new body for the TRX4... I was hoping to get away with clearing the fenders... No such luck I'd rather not cut them so I best keep an eye out for some narrow ones or a really cheap set to cut
  7. I don't suppose someone with the TRX4 with Traxx or the TRX4 Mercedes G500 has a set of fenders laying around? Possibly even the 6x6 g500 as I'm sure I could get away with just the fronts.... I bought a new body for my TRX4 Bronco which has the wide fenders, unfortunately it seems that the rear clear but the front catch, I'd rather fit the narrow fronts then cut the existing
  8. Looks a good build and really liking the van body... shame I have the shorter wheelbase TRX4
  9. I'm thinking of just buying either one fixed mount and one adjustable or two fixed mounts designed for the arrma kraton and cutting one down to fit... (I've attached the two types) As I'm sure in my box of spares I have extra motor plates that I can adapt so that these mounts fix to an old nitro engine plate and then to the TVP via the original braces... Second hand motor plates are cheap enough on ebay too that I could also get another to chop up for upper reinforcement... then run a EXB spec slipper centre diff straight to the motor like in a Kraton... Even if I mount them flipped 90 degrees and make up my own mount to bolt in, I'm sure this is something that could be made to work without a stupid level of work. I'm not going for speed I just want a fun basher so whatever will give enough speed to have a bit of fun on the local grass dunes jumping the sand bunkers is enough for me, plus its the added extra of I like having a project/challenge to try something.
  10. I have integy heavy duty dog bones on the one I'm thinking of doing... I think I'll try a budget conversion and hope for the best
  11. The ss which I was thinking of using for the conversion has alloy diff cups and has the spider gear mod which looks similar internally to the bulletproof ones... I'm perfectly willing to adapt and do a more homebrew conversion that is usable rather than worry about it looking perfect... That alza one ending on ebay later I'd be worried about getting stung import fees
  12. Looking for an aftermarket diff/motor mount, the type that the bearing holes are fully closed (so not slotted reliant on a "cover" being fitted. Its for a project I'm starting and I want to use 1 possibly 2 mounts fitted at 90 degree rotation into my savage, so that I can mount a centre diff and have the motor above rather than beside. Besides being the type with the full bearing locations I'm kinda open to options.
  13. Thanks for the links... I'm quite resourceful when it comes to tinkering so I might have a go at fitting something like the mount I linked... My thought was I could mount it to an old engine plate with enough cut out of it so that the diff clears with room for everything to move... brace it with extra cross braces in the chassis and possibly look at making a plate to brace the top in some way too... I think my biggest concern is having driveshafts to the front and rear that reach or whether again I could utilise some from another RC... I'm not using the savage anyway as the motor refuses to tune and cuts out as soon as throttle is let off, so being out of action for a while isn't an issue... If I used the Arrma one I could also try to fit their roll over bar to it as well...
  14. Always thought these look kinda cool... but agree with yorkshireman I doubt it'd be a very practical RC in England unless perhaps you beefed it up a bit to use in mud
  15. do you think something like this could be made to fit? https://www.jteamhobbies.com/products/mak01718a-bk as I messaged Alza racing and they do not currently do the savage motor/diff mounts... I was hoping to do it as cheaply/cost effectively as possible to begin with to see if I still enjoy using the savage as an electric. Then if I do I could go a bit further with it. If I used my SS I think the following mods that it has would hopefully be ok to keep for the conversion; Innovative RC LowCentreGravity TVP;s Heavy duty dog bones (axle ones maybe not centres) Diffs with alloy cups and upgraded to 4 gears from the original 2 What wheelie bar is that Locky?
  16. Could anyone help with what I should look for in terms of motor fitment for a motor mount? I saw one that looked like I could retrofit but it said 700 series and when I googled it they looked really small... I've only really been nitro so far so my knowledge of electrics is slim...
  17. I think I just need the fixed gear from a flux transmission. I'm not clued up on what will and won't fit an old model savage (left the hobby for a while) so thought that's likely the easy route to begin with. I don't suppose anyone could advise what "series" or type motor mount I would need? I saw one for a 700 series that looked like it might work but searched 700 series motors and they looked tiny... New to electric since getting my TRX4 as always had nitro before
  18. might explain why when I tried to order for the first time recently it just bugged out... Shame as they had a good selection of the screws I wanted to build up a comprehensive spares box... I was hoping to buy from one place rather than get everything from different suppliers.
  19. Wondered if anyone has any electric conversion parts kicking around for the Savage? I have 2 currently but one of them the engine just doesn't want to tune so thought an electric conversion might be a bit of fun... One is a Savage 25 and one is a Savage SS (back from early savage days) I think I'm most likely to change to the single gear(from the flux) in the original transmission and have some form of motor mount but want to avoid cutting the chassis plates (likely to convert the one I have that's on LCG plates and already has ally diff cups with spider gearing) Any advice also would be well received **Edit** I've now sorted an option for a centre diff conversion so I'm now going to be looking for a motor and esc suitable for the conversion, I'm not going mad so don't need anything that'll send this thing into orbit on a jump but would like a good bit of ooomphh I think I'm going to run an Arrma EXB centre diff and then look at what I need to sort out shafts to reach and be suitable...
  20. Still wouldn't mind a spare body although it doesn't look hopeful 😄
  21. I am sooo tempted by these... I'd like a losi micro but they're soo damn expensive
  22. why does every conversation about brexit turn into people assuming those who voted for brexit are idiots who didn't know what they were voting for... I previously had jobs that handled "funding" and "grants" from the "EU" and personally think that leaving was correct but I don't go round forcing my view on people who voted remain being idiots who didn't know what they were voting for.... NO everyone has their own right to vote for what they believe to be right, I know several of those who voted to remain who have since changed their mind so it works both ways... R/C is a fun hobby which we are all lucky to be able to have in whatever capacity that may be, there are those who don't have that luxury... I hate that all this politics spreads like a horrid disease into places where the only thoughts should be about furthering enjoyment...
  23. you would probably be better doing something like this; then cut the mold you made down the middle and "make good" although it's a lot of effort unless shells are just not available and you have most of the equipment/supplies to make it already..
  24. Maybe it'll bring back some factories to the UK and not just for R/C I'm sure it'll work itself out in the end, I'm not worried about it, it's not as if any of us individually can make any kind of difference to it.
