  1. Great news! I put the loctite on last night and the 16t pinion, and it seems to have done the job. Ran it outside this morning and put virtually a full 3s 5200mah lipo through it. No issues with heat on either the ESC or the motor and that's with the outer shell on, though to be fair it was cold outside! It ran fast, straight and true. Forwards brake reverse all worked perfectly too. I'm really pleased! Only thing I'd prefer is if I could break the grip loose easier, maybe the tryes were just too grippy on a dry surface? Next steps, Inferno side guards Velcro battery strap Chassis protector Reinforce shell Try to find an Evo 7 shell Fit motor cooler (just to be safe come summer)
  2. I see, I calibrated at 0% so when its at rest/0 the car doesn't move but if I turn it up to full I think it goes full speed. If I recalibrate I will set it nearer the middle. Thanks for your help , really appreciated!
  3. Not sure i understand that but does the throttle trim thing seem right its the first time I habe ever calibrated a car/esc etc
  4. Hi all, so I'm just calibrating my esc, hw ezrun10. I think its calibrated correctly but I might be wrong. When I turn up the throttle trim the wheels start to turn. Is this correct operation? If I put throttle trim to 100% (and do not touch the trigger) its like the car is full throttle. When I calibrated I out the trim to 0% as per the instructions. If that is the case, what does the throttle EPA do , ideally id like to say, limit the car to 80% performance when press full trigger, is this possible?
  5. Thanks, just took the VE outside and had a 5 minute play to discharge the battery a bit, all went well! Locktite threadlock being delivered tomorrow! The thing can really move on a 3s lipo , 16t pinion and I only had the throttle trim thing set to half way! Next up is the nitro, never started one before in my life but nothing ventured nothing gained!
  6. Hi have hooked it all up , calibrated it and just have it running now to test temps. Going fine so far, except when the pinion fell off.
  7. My other toy just arrived which to use first haha!
  8. Yes well, I put the original pinion back in (19t) for now until the 16t one shows up today (come on amazon prime!!) I saw a YT vid to give it the click click test! Where you roll the cogs against each other if there is a tiny bit of slack and they slightly click its good!
  9. I am replacing the ESC as the oe one burnt out. I have never really attacked an rc clear before but here we go! Replacement parts: Hobbywing 3200kv Brushless uncsensored Hobbywing MAX10 SCT 120A 16t mod 1 pinion Step 1 remove old motor and wiring, check! Step 2 insert new motor, check! Step 3 install ESC and wire the sucker up check! Step 4 program ESC and get the car moving, tbc
  10. Well as I'm finding out, electric brushless has been a pain too. The number of different connector types, deans, xt, tamiya, the size of connectors, 3.5mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6.5mm. "Oh yeah just buy a soldering iron its a necessity" Esc melted within 10mins of running the car (around my lounge no less) . Programming esc, lipo storage, discharge and protection etc. Electric is a pain to learn from new. I have a nitro car due to arrive today, I wonder if I'll experience this amount of issues!
  11. Welll guys I have bought a DRX VE and am upgrading the engine to a 3200kv. I also have a HPI WR8 nitro arriving tomorrow. Once I have tested both I will give you my thoughts and feedback! Maybe even sell the one I dont want, who knows!
  12. Hi guys looking for a replacement wr8 body shell, I believe the nsr4 will fit too! Lookimg for anything interesting doesn't habe to be original i already have a ken block wrc one I'm looking for anything else that you might habe around ..
  13. The way I understand it, if your ESC MAX8 is cool enough snd not over heating and you're happy woth the overall acceleration and top speed then leave it... If the max8 is too hot 🔥 or you want to use bigger batteries or a 6th motor, then maybe swap.
  14. Hm nothing major just its part of a combo deal for the esc I want for a decent price. If it's just a 'don't do it' i'll use the new esc and sell the motor off and stick with the original motor. It will still work out better than buying the esc separately. Oh I got a bit trigger happy and ordered a hpi wr8 nitro too. I'll test both and maybe sell the one I prefer least and buy a Hyper VS and attach my Subaru 1/8 shell. Then I will be 😊
