  1. I thought I'd revive this thread as I'm planning to buy a set of crawler tyres and don't want to make an expensive mistake. I'm guessing things have moved on a bit in the four years since this thread was started, so come on folks... what in your opinion, is the best all round 1.9?
  2. What @Ant.p said. 👍 If you can find one, get a steel spur. Will seem expensive compared to the stock one, but trust me, after replacing your third spur gear you’ll happily pay it. The steel one is fit and forget. A carbon top plate stiffens the chassis brilliantly. If you are tempted by carbon shock towers, don’t get the pro version. They look pretty, but are fragile compared to the basic ones. After that I’d upgrade as you repair. You WILL break front suspension arms but they are cheap as chips. Personally I’d avoid the alloy versions but I’d recommend the alloy swing arm holders. Enjoy.
  3. Really not smitten with the shell on the Element Enduro but can’t decide what to replace it with.

I have been looking at the Tacoma shell, it can look  right nice if done right, a fair bit of cutting for fitting front chrome though and its a tad narrow so tyres will stick out like a bulldogs B..........s

I had decided on the cab only Coyote shell (Which SMD assured me IS available,  but for some reason isn't listed on their website) but realised it's too short AND too narrow.

Not what I had in mind ( not a Toyota and not 70's/80's) but I'm now thinking of getting this (def won'tbe that colour though)...

is it worth waiting on this, no idea when it will be in stock seems like proline are upping the game at last, that means Jconcepts may have to follow  https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/pro-line-2015-toyota-tacoma-trd-clear-rock-crawler-bodyshell-set-313mm-wb-1342328

  4. Mmmm, that Alpha looks good. I really love/hate choosing bodies. Spend aaages being indecisive…… then smash it to bits after 2 runs. 🤷‍♂️
  5. Never even heard of these but googled it and it does look good. Looking forward to seeing it finished and tested. Guessing you already saw this?
  6. Thanks. As it happens, I relented and bought a hard case… for now. Then I’ll feel happier using it in faster cars/for bashing. But when finances allow, I plan to buy soft cases, to be used exclusively in crawlers. Must be nice to have “crawling friends”, I’m billy bloody no-mates when it comes to RC 🙁🤣
  7. I’m not 100% certain, but I think it’s possible to use paint remover to clear the windows? Again not certain but I think Tamiya do a polycarbonate paint remover? Might be the cheaper option… if it’s even possible.
  8. Put stickers and bits of plastic on it. Still not smitten with this shell but it looks a bit less like an upturned bucket now. Taking it out to get muddy this afternoon.
  9. That was my initial thought, either that or the servo horn had stripped. But once the tx was re-centered it seemed OK though so..?? Tempted to take a peek inside and check for missing teeth.
  10. Thanks, as you say, not sure 3s is entirely necessary, but I’m curious 🧐 Having slept on it, unless someone responds to this saying soft packs are ok if dunked, I’ll probably stick to 2s for now. If I wait til I can afford a hardcase 3s and then I can use it it faster cars too.👍
  11. The strangest response I’ve ever had to a post on here. Really no idea how to respond 😂 Pretty snarky response to me here too 🤷‍♂️ That’s the joy of Internet forums, you get to meet all sorts of interesting people.
  12. The servo on my Sca-1e* suddenly decided to steer hard left and stayed that way. It had a tiny bit of movement to the right but was basically stuck. Why would it do that? I reset the sub trim on my transmitter so the steering horn was centred and it seems fine. Drove it for another hour with no issues at all….that I noticed. So fingers crossed it’s fine?? Or am I likely to need a new one soon? *Its not a stock Carisma servo, it’s a 35kg £33 cheapo off Amazon. Had it about 6 months and been really pleased with it, so far.
  13. I’m planning to get a couple of 3s batteries and I noticed you can get soft pack lipos much cheaper than hardcase. They’ll be going into crawlers, so no danger of high speed collisions or tumbles, but I’m not sure how robust they’d be? They’re basically just shrink wrapped aren’t they? How do soft case batteries react to being submerged in muddy puddles? Anyone got any pointers?
  14. Arrived yesterday actually… My prize from the MSUK gold members prize draw. Thanks @Nick and Modelsport, well chuffed. (Although I’m not sure how long I’ll be keeping that body shell 🤔)
  15. I’m sure I’ve seen them advertised but, I’d probably take Redbacks advice.
  16. Very odd. Never had anything like that happen. Wondering if there was any oily residue from manufacturing still in/on the shocks which might have reacted with the shock oil?
  17. Another cheesy Instagram video…….. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CbSb-aIstx4/?utm_medium=copy_link
  18. I had a 4000kv in mine. Car coped fine with the extra go, (but I only used a 2S battery, 3S might be a different story).
  19. Isn’t there another mounting hole on the swing arm? Maybe if you mounted them slightly more vertically they’d clear the steering?
