  1. Guys, this is a super buy the 2 batteries are just about worth the asking
  2. Welcome, just keep an eye out for good spots to bash
  3. Im kinda thinking maybe i dont want to let the Mauler pick up go, she really is a nice truck, and nmaybe its not such a good ide to pump money into upgrading the Ripmax, so i think i will run the ripmax pretty much as it is, though i do have some oil shocks on order for it, and the wider wheels are a big improvement on stability, if i end up frying a servo or esc or RX i can drop the stuff in from the Px9200, but going to look at waterproofing it with hotglue on servo wire, and plastercine on the esc/rx, or just keep out of the wet stuff, have to say i do really like the ripmax, its a lot of fun
  4. Welcome, wow the dragon hammer looks right nice, but a lotto win price tag
  5. Its up my way on the Halifax road its Flappits quarry. If i go for modding the ripmax it would only be esc and servo plus better radio
  6. Oh i plan on doing just this, hoping to take it to the killer disused quarry at weekend, i do really like this Ripmax, and it will be even better with some nice hop ups, but back of my mind this is some place between toy grade and entry hobby but i guess its cheap to fix
  7. thanks for the replies so far, another option might be to keep both cars and spend some more cash on the Ripmax, new servo new esc and new radio all waterproofed
  8. I am finding i seem to prefer the rock racer style of rc crawler, so i am trying to raise a large ish pot of cash, and may end up selling the 2 cars i have to add to the pot, so with a max budget of say £500 what would be a really good rock racer/crawler, i have to say i really like the style of the new Tamiya Dynahead 6x6, but it needs a lot of hop up parts so might not be ideal for me (for a few reasons) I do really like my Ripmax fast 2000 (wltoys 10428 B-2) but this is a cheap car and has a few bad points like cheap electrics so any suggestions
  9. this is a storm chariot 1/12 desert buggy, its nearly new and works perfectly, its a great car, with slightly upgraded shocks and 2x 1500 Ni-MH batteries and a usb charger still have box it came in dont want to post so really pickup from near Halifax, this has only been run about 4 times, a few scuff`s underneath, and comes RTR with radio, great for a kid or as a basher, pretty quick and very tough
  10. Shocks are on order, really does need oil filled rather than the spring/friction stock items, the wider wheels seem to be making a big difference to the handling. At this some what early stage of owning this car, i have to say i rather like it......a lot ?
  11. welcome aboard, now the spending starts
  12. Thanks for the replies, i am best sticking with stock radio and esc on the ripmax and finding a way to waterproof it
  13. Thats not a dog, looks aright nice scale truck
  14. Okay, i have an Etronix EX2 pulse radio set in my Mauler pickup all good, could i buy a second matching RX and put this in my Ripmax fast 2000, as i want to put waterproof electrics in the ripmax, so new servo, new esc and RX, having 2 models on the one TX would it be a case of just using the bind button or would i have to do the whole thing each time i changed model, complete rebind?
  15. Paul, welcome to this forum, Re Tamiya, when i recently got back into cars i was advised to get a Tam lunchbox monster van, seems its a pretty good fun truck, but would need a bit of upgrades, but nicely in budget
  16. Its this one mate, yes does look nice, cheers https://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-1979-ford-f-150-supercab-body/rc-car-products/363682
  17. I can see me selling the Mauler pickup and getting one of these, gonna cost a fair bit though, it really does look the biz, and can be built to suit owner to a point, this rig fits in with what i feel is right for a rock crawler/off roader low CG, huge grippy tyres........yeah i could be up for this I am wondering if i could use ESC/RX and radio from a trashed 1/10th car in this I am going to hold back on the idea of getting this, will wait to see what other people think to it, also cost is likely to spiral out with this
  18. Its an astronomy forum there is a guy on there with same username as you
  19. Fitted different wheels/tyres to the ripmax fast 2000, gives it the summit/Teton look and it seems to handle better
  20. Been playing around modding a new rock racer, its really got me thinking about scale crawlers, in general tall narrow tyres, a big lump of weight lipo fairly high up (top heavy) Cant help thinking lower CG, much wider tyres/wheels to make the car more stable, lower weight mass, you look at the Traxxass summit 1/16, and that seems to have lots of grip, a wide track so more stable, a low CG
  21. Cant help trying things out, so fitted these wheels from a broken monster truck (PX9200) makes it a wider track and they are a tiny bit smaller diameter so a tad less top speed a tad more acceleration and a new look, sort of Teton style, tried it out in the street and seems to run well with them
  22. Just been out for another run with this car, it really does have a tendency to tip over, and it does not like having a Mobius camera mounted on the roof, so much bounce video is near un watchable so we are thinking better shocks all round, and maybe find a way to mount the lipo lower down, to get CG lower, also i think this needs a higher turn motor, i would guess at 27T so maybe a 45T would lose a bit of speed but give a little more lower down, the motor mount wont allow for a larger pinion
  23. Having recently purchased this Ripmax Fast 2000 from Modelsport, a few members asked me to do a bit of a write up, so here we go. If any one else has one or gets one feel free to add to this thread. I have run this a few times now and really getting to like it, its a rock racer, so its pretty quick on the flat, but to open it up it needs to be pretty smooth ground, this makes it a pretty good trail runner, with the ability to take in a bit of a crawl on route, at this point we do have to note that the Ripmax is not made by Ripmax but in fact a Wltoys model the Wltoys 10428-B2 and comes same as. Lets get a couple of negatives out of the way......suspension is very average no provision for oil in the shocks and rather bouncy, i may have to look at uprating the shocks in time. Second one she is a bit top heavy, on fast trails she will tip over on the corners, if you are giving it the beans. Now to more positive stuff, the makers claims a top speed of 40kph, i really doubt this but have no means to test, best guess closer to 30. This model comes with a fairly basic radio, but it does the job, taking 4 AA cells, with steering trim and a rate for throttle, but feels okay in the hand. Nice beadlock wheels are fitted, with decent soft tyres, they feel like they have memory foam inserts, not removed a tyre yet to check. For the power this is supplied with a 2200mah 2s Li-ion pack and a wall charger, but i have already changed out to Floureon 2200mah 2s lipo`s, the lipo gives a better top speed and a longer run time, they are a tight fit but do go in and stay put in a roll or tumble! One important point, the electrics are not waterproof at all, so avoid running through the wet stuff or it will be magic smoke time! Overall the build quality seems very good, the plastic has a flexible feel to it, body can be removed as a whole unit or panels can be removed to get access to the insides, Modelsport price is just as good, the wltoys 10428-B2 is nearly same price on BG but i would always buy from a decent UK supplier rather than risking import tax and damaged goods from China! I will update this thread as we go, i do plan on some sensible mods like shocks, i may fit a higher turn motor, and feel free to comment on here, all input good or bad welcome
