  1. And that's the joy of this hobby, you can do what you want and spend as much or as little as you want in the process
  2. Looking great AJ but still a bit clean...
  3. That set has two pin holes on the tall mount for the Land rover roof rack but yes you could use them and just trim off the extra hole
  4. As standard the sport wheelbase is 12.3" and all the links are steel so you don't need anything in that respect. You might need to pick up a set of longer body mounts for the rear (I forget the part number atm) if your cherokee is an SUV. Otherwise sounds like you are good to go!
  5. Looks good, are they fastrax wheels? If so, what do you think of them?
  6. So my son and I took our trucks out today and about 25 mins in his stock servo failed. I've added quite a bit of weight up front with a GRC steel axle, ally bumper and beadlocks and this was the first run since - think this may be the cause. Has anyone else noticed this after adding weight? Going to replace with a 25kg Power HD and wondering will the stock esc cope?
  7. From the description it seems to be similar to the 4x4 ie either all diffs open, front only locked or all locked - both rears locking simultaneously. Be interesting to see if it's a mini servo for each rear or if they've somehow linked them together.
  8. Much prefer this over axial's offering with this having completey new extended rails rather than extensions. With the lights and everything included this is going to put a serious dent in gaz's udr fund!!

So... 2 speed and portals. Wonder wether Traxxas lawyers are rubbing their hands yet?!?
  10. Does the kit have different rate springs? That would cause 2 shocks to have more resistance than other 2. Unequal amounts of oil could also cause the shocks to 'pack' at different rates
  11. Have you considered the Enduro kit as you already have radio gear? Then you could also choose a body to your taste also (plus wheels, tyres, esc, servo which you'll probably upgrade eventually anyway once the bug bites!!
  12. So I picked up a sport kit about a month ago and have finally completed the build. Running Power HD servo and a1080 via a Spectrum DX4C. Quick rattle can paint job and a few additions/alterations - I didn't like the expedition rack so that's been cut down at the back and I've fitted a couple of proline light bars plus front and rear lights. Also cut the body to fit around the bumpers so they can be pushed right back and look more integrated with the body. Pimped my ride with rustler 2.8s and low profile trenchers. Now to get it dirty!!!
  13. Theoretically you could use a Y lead to send the signal to both diff lock servos from one channel but I can't remember enough of my GCSE physics to say what this would do to the current or voltage. Looking at the lads defender one servo would need to operate in the other direction also.
  14. For a simple way to connect the traxxas light kit have a look at Bickells Defender thread. His June 3rd post shows how he achieved this using the programming port on the 1080. I'll be doing this when I replace the stock esc on the lad's Defender
  15. Just found this in modelsports coming soon section for anyone wanting another kit option https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=441880
  16. It's too early to be thinking about Christmas Gaz, we've not even had the longest day........ (takes deep breathe, realising he sounds just like his parents xx years ago)
  17. They might have sold more Ventures had it not had that fugly Toyota shell. By all accounts it had some good features chassis wise. Just my opinion of course......
  18. Such a shame. I got back into RC via a Savage 21 - must have upgraded nearly every part wether it needed it or not - so much fun watching half a dozen tearing about every weekend when a few of us got together.
  19. Wheelbase looks a bit long at 406mm so could be new chassis with borrowed transmission etc
  20. Looks like this is a roller chassis and the infraction is rtr
  21. So, not being able to get my defender back off the eldest I've picked up a sport kit last week. Started the build over the weekend but it's been slow progress. I didn't like the front bumper A-bar and winch so out came the knife. Had a 4" proline light bar kicking around and thought that might look good. A couple of home made spacers later and this is what I now have Using a couple of the supplied brackets it bolts right up using the bumper mount screw holes on the reverse side. Also have a 5" bar to go on the roof though may try to shorten the expedition rack first - not really keen on the look as it is.
  22. Thanks for the inspirationJust bought a sport kit and a 1080 for me to go with my lads defender and was wondering how to connect up the power supply when I get around to lights - perfect timing!
  23. I've had the premium kit for about 6 months and so far the traxxas electronics are holding up. The plan was to get a sport if my son showed some interest - now I can't get the transmitter off him. Its had a few big drops off stone walls etc and nothing's broke yet. So I took the plunge this week and bought the sport kit for me. Figured the diff spools and single speed were better for where we run. The extras it has are LED ready front and rear light housings instead of stickers, the complete 'expedition rack' with a few scale items - shovel axe etc, a metal servo horn and a set of tuned springs - 2 white and 2 orange. You get a clear body too tho wether that's a good or bad thing depends how good you are with a spray can. There's not to much to these, reckon you could have one built over a couple of evenings if you took that route.
