Definitely a great entry point and exactly what I bought mine for! As mentioned way back, prior to this my last experience in the rc car world was the old Tamiya TL01 chassis, coming back about 15 years later and entering a world of brushless motors and lipo batteries, I virtually started afresh. No videos of it in the air though now I'm afraid as I've killed yet another combo in it and have just moved up to 1/8th

I'm really pleased with them, they're about the same diameter as standard but wider and obviously much smaller sidewall, which yes, induce a lot less bounce and reduces the tendency to roll but still has a pretty big turning circle even with the upgraded turnigy servo.

I too did this some time ago, figured it made sense. Also made a sort of front strut brace, rear brace and 2 wide arms to help stiffen up the chassis as I think all that flex was eventually transferring to the gearbox and not helping things there. Removed (by terrible landing) the rear wheel (along with most body panels) and added the bugsta wheels and it's now incredibly controllable in the air

I've broken a few of these also, still using the plastic ones though as they're so cheap. I think I mentioned earlier in the thread that I had enlarged the drive pin on the center shaft as I'd stripped the slot on the spur twice. You can see how much they hole has elongated on the steel drive shaft too, these shafts have an incredible amount of slop in them which is disappointing, I'm on my second steel shaft now! The enlarged center drive pin still gave up eventually, so modified the gearbox to take this from a Tamiya. It's a 68t so needed a bit of space created for it but uses an aluminium hub. Running with an 18t steel pinion and the 23t mount meshes perfectly. Shame I've melted the motor and esc now though, getting by on a little sensor less 13.5T and 45A esc for now, but it doesn't like 3S much until I can decide what to get.

I took the blue tac method on the rear diff and it definitely helped it climb, would go up steps with the suspension in its current lowered state even. The trouble I found though is that it's now stripping the drive pin slot in the center of the spur gear under heavy load/stall and it seems the replacement spurs have an even weaker design, so I've drilled through and put a 3mm grub in the pins place which has sorted it for now at least.

Mines looking more mad max than mad bling I've had to make a new roof, bonnet and sides, so the only original body part is the rear Best recorded speed so far is 36mph And just because I'm a child... Biscuit tin still going strong and no ally upgrades as yet. Just added additional screws between the chassis plate and trailing arm brackets, it's now done many a cartwheel without exploding. Stripped the centre of the spur a couple of times now since locking the rear diff, so thinking I'm going to go back to a functional diff. Also weighted the front wheels, which worked really well for climbing, but I have totally the wrong motor for that and decided I like speed

Hi all, Went to the beach at the weekend; for speed runs - the Outlaw was really at home there. I find the soft tyres give too much traction on tarmac and I'm forever flipping it, even just when accelerating. Whereas on the sand there's just enough give in it to let it slide a touch rather than let go and barrel roll several times. Anyway, quick clip of how she goes up and more enjoyably down the side of a slipway... May notice an ECX Amp MT appear at the end, got that for the father in law!

Made a fairly crude montage of on board footage over various outings.. On another note, have those fitting the ARBs found them worth while? Also, the chassis repair is so far holding up!

Hi, from reading previous posts it seems there's not a great deal of bashing spots around here or nearby. Thought I'd just share with you where I like to use my Outlaw, near my home in Park Farm, Ashford. There's a small section of open field, with a small pond we use our 9" rc boats in, probably 25-30' across at least. The main attraction is a small area of woodland in which people have dug out/built up earth ramps and dips, presumably for bmx's etc. Also various trenches running throughout. Theres a couple of inches of fallen leaf ground cover at the time of writing this so not ideal for smaller than 1/10 or maybe 1/12 perhaps but our Outlaw and Carnage cope fine with it. No problems with parking in adjacent roads and never had any problems with residents etc. Just thought I'd share...

Another little clip from a few weeks ago, not often we are treated to a solid frozen pond down in Kent! Interestingly, when the Carnage flipped over the Outlaw could push it off the ice fine yet the other way round and the Carnage could hardly budge the Outlaw at all
