  1. most large scale servos chatter a bit, i doubt it's anything to worry about.
  2. you can get some metal servo clamps instead of the rubber bushes. http://www.freeprawnracing.co.uk/jofer-rc-aluminum-servo-clamps-for-losi-5ive-sm361x.html Fullforce do some for the 5ive as well, also available from freeprawn. I just have the rubber on mine, just tightened up so that it squishes slightly. It's rock solid and not going anywhere.
  3. I spoke to nige today and he thinks it's mostly rumours, bad configuration or coincidence. At the same time he also caviated it by saying that he has no evidence either way and that I should try with a single arm connected for a test run to make sure the servo is running OK before connecting the 2nd arm. Apparently horizon are being very good with spectrum servo warranties at the moment so I have some confidence should one fail they will repair or swap it out (via freeprawn)
  4. Used the same in my Baja, now I use it in my 5ive. Great battery.
  5. I bought it as a set with the plastic bumper, posts etc. http://rc-car-online.de/shop/en/products/fg_8418-8418-fg-foam-front-bumper-1:5-set.html
  6. Yeah, I have a spare head , piston, gaskets and plugs so I can do a trackside rebuild if I have to!
  7. Latest update, I won a 2fold self locking differential on eBay for £30. Just stripped it today and it's in great condition, just needs some new screws, grub pins. Everything else is fine, result. That's a £120 saving. Also fitted some eBay cheap oil filled shocks all round. They seem OK but might have to change the front fluid to something a bit thicker.
  8. Good stuff, I won't be going quite as far as you although I'm still in 2 minds over the type of esp head, torque or rev?
  9. Why buy a long block and esp head, you can buy a complete esp motor for less then it would be to build it from parts? Thatis pretty much the spec I am going for when I get round to doing it. I keep holding off as my km runs so good at the moment.
  10. Yeah saved myself £40 which considering i'm not supposed to be buying any RC bits at the moment is still worth doing. The s9010 should be more than up to the task.
  11. I do exactly the same, I've never pressed it and it not worked (yet)
  12. Just ordered a pair of s9010's, one for the 5ive and one for the spares shelf.
  13. I'll be on the phone to uncle nige tomorrow then.
  14. Right, what's the score with these new spektrum servo's? I've got a dual servo saver at the moment which connects two rods to a single servo. can I still use this config with the s90x0 servos or do I need to remove one of the connector rods, in effect going back to a standard setup? I've heard rumours of failures being seen when have 2 rods fitted but no idea if it is jut that, rumours.
  15. I'm using the stock disks and pads on mine on my touring car and it seems to have good braking capability for a rear wheel brake. That upgrade will make some difference, just not sure how much. Front wheel hydro brakes are the best but you don't want those on an off road car really.
  16. What about the brakes doesn't work? Does the servo operate the brake linkage? If it does then are the pads making contact with the disk when you apply the brake? It could be the pads are just worn out or the disk has worn out. Both are relatively easy to do, the pads being the easier (2 screws to pop off the brake carrier and another 2 to undo the pads from the carrier). If it's the disk on the layshaft then it's slightly more complicated and will require you to either remove the spur or pinion gear and undo the grub screw(s) on the brake square to allow you to slide the layshaft out. The FG bit's don't really come with instructions.
  17. I use rcmodelz x2 foams with 2 wraps of gorilla tape round them. Bulletproof!
  18. Five months since I fitted the new 30N shell, it's been on 3 hard sessions and this is how it now looks. A few scrapes here and there but no rips, tears or breakage so far. My old aluminium brace split at the bolt holes where it joins the clutch bell housing so back on with the Bartelone brace, whilst fitting a new AreaRC clutch bell housing. At some point I might treat the old girl to a new power plant but the km seems to be running ok at the moment. not the fastest by a long way but pretty reliable and not missed a beat yet.
  19. No surprises there. Remember I bought a not so nice condition first generation model so I would hope that any subsequent releases are better! I've got mine as reliable as I can now, the only things km on it are the fuel tank, shocks and engine lol. Just need a s9010 or s9020 for the steering now to stop my run of savox failures.
  20. Should have said lipo, stupid auto correct!
  21. Charger should be on loop but that sounds a small capacity battery to me.
  22. No stainless bolts for the underside?
  23. I run hostile soft compound on my tarmac x2 and they are lasting forever. I bought a couple extra as spares but can't seem to wear the existing ones out lol
  24. The bartolone are very similar, no fuss but bullet proof!
