  1. I agree with mond. Tekno a renown for their kits being tough as old boots. An ally servo horn is all you require (kit comes with a plastic one) As soon as I've paid a few bills off I'll be ordering one...
  2. Right, not been able to get on here in a few days... Wednesday I received some GRP cross tyres for the hyper. Undecided on whether to tape them or not.. anyone got any experience with these and ballooning? Thursday I received the wrong screen for an ipod nano 5th gen..... and the correct digitizer for an ipad mini 1 yay! also received a nice parcel containing a phone repair tool kit.... Today the lcd screen for the ipad turned up. Guess what I'm doing tonight! hehe
  3. Is it me or do Traxxas appear to have got this right?! May sway me from being a traxxas hater.... Now that Ive said that, cue the 800+ quid price tag and snapping axles etc...
  4. Today a Castle link from Norcoforever. cheers bud! Yesterday a Castle BEC of the 10a variety to hopefully resurrect the hyper....
  5. I say vaseline as its most likely something you have around the house. Really you should use a proper cutting oil or paste but they're messy and expensive and probably overkill for the home user.
  6. use vaseline while drilling. and resist the urge to use full speed. when drilling hard things slow and steady wins the race... mine are fine when it comes to holding a charge, they seem to hold for a few days

  10. is that a 3300mah floureon? ive got a couple 40c packs. one always requires a cycle on the charger after a bash to get it to balance properly...
  11. I went even lower with 95mm shocks on mine. Im after a more scale '2" lift kit' look though... I never got to use the stock shocks in my kit as that bag was incomplete....
  12. After yodel eventually found my house. They delivered me the wrong scrim tape... And they left it on the doorstep without knocking... I was at home and the truck on the drive... Never mind! So I ordered 48mm wide tape and received 100mm instead. No biggy really and I suppose I got it cheap.... Dont think I'll be running out in a hurry mind! 100mm x 90m!!
  13. I like those wheels. May have to order some scale hubs. They really finish the wheel off.
  14. That looks pretty sharp John! tested it yet?
  15. Not today but yesterday I repaired the stripped spur in the Blitz, Didnt have another 88t so popped an 83 in. This is now exclusively run on 3s so Ive been conservative and gone with a 21t pinny. As temps were sensible on 88/20 Im hoping this will run ok.... Also had a look at the xerun on the Hyper. Upon start up the red light stays on for approximately 5 secs then the motor beeps as it should showing the cell count. After this nothing but the servo works... Tryed re calibrating but it only goes into calibration mode then nothing after.... Could it be an rx fault and the internal BEC set too high? which is frying the rx?
  16. Did anyone ever use those cheap orion motors? they were about 3 quid if I remember rightly? Or is anyone else sitting on them?

They were old stock from around 2008, that's why they were so cheap

im right in saying a 12th pan car would be ideal for these?

Yep, they were stupid low T and are meant to run on 1s or 4cell nimhs

  17. Chassis is 5mm wider and has extra holes at either end for balast. Larger hub bearings. Adjustable castors and spindles. cvds have extra 'boots' to stop detritus getting in. Can change the angle of the diff to keep the angle on the centre shafts the same. Front and rear towers have more mounting points for different suspension geometry Updated shock caps with a bleeder hole looks like most parts are slightly different tbh mate
  18. roughly how much is a gen1 xmod worth? cant find a uk listing on ebay to compare....

  19. Bashed the Hyper and the Blitz hard. Hyper has developed an esc problem. Blitz eventually chewed its spur. Even though spurs and drive cups are chewed up at an alarming rate, the change to 3s in the blitz is worth it. Loving the limitless power. 2s wasnt enough to give the truck control in the air... Once again the Amp Mt performed flawlessly for the lad. An hour of fun and its just below storage on the lipo. alarm works great and cycles through individual cell voltage and total voltage which is handy. Maintenance time once again.....
  20. about to head out for a bash... one mof my 3s packs wont balance properly. should i be worried about a diffference of 0.159 volts? or just take the pack and keep an eye on it?

Use and check it....You know the signs of disaster...lol

Keep an eye out. I'd cut off earlier than normal then recharge and do the same again. Might just want cycling a bit. I use one of those small led things in a window where I can see it and check every so often.

Well I decided to go for it before anyone answered. Within 2 mins of use all the cells had balanced themselves. 5 mins later the spur gave way...  Just my luck.

appear to have an issue with the xerun 150 in the hyper too. havent checked it out yet though

  21. did modelsport send you a replacement rx or both the tx and the rx?
  22. Start taking bits off. Use your manual. Take photos/videos so you can see how it was before you pulled it to bits. Use a good degreasing agent to get the gunk out of the diffs. Dry your diff out afterwards then refill with silicon oil (20k+) to just above the bevel gears and screw back together. Then its a case of reversing your previous steps until its all back together. Awesome rebuild kit available below http://www.tsrproducts.com/index.php/hpi-hb/tsr-pro-seal-blitz-rtr-firestorm-gear-diff-upgrade-and-shim-set-os111034-blitz.html Stripping your rc can be daunting but the best thing to do is to just get stuck in. In no time you'll be confidant to change anything and everything on your rigs...
  23. Ive just refreshed my blitz with loads of shiny new bits and some new bearings. The diff could do with re-oiling but I REALLY CBA... In this weather, whatever is in there is stiff as hell so still works quite well. I will need to sort it by summer though. I also need to find out what the clicking noise in the spare gearbox is lol
  24. Bearings http://www.rcbearings.co.uk/ Gt85 will be fine for what you want to use it for. Clean out all the grease and get yourself some 20k silicon shock oil. this will stiffen the diff up nicely for when you add brushless power. Otherwise you'll find a lot of power unloads to the inside wheel in corners. This will either flip the car as the tire balloons or you sort of stop as theres very little forward traction. This combo is ideal for the firestorm.... http://www.wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/264740/?gclid=CjwKEAiAqozEBRDJrPem0fPKtX0SJAD5sAyHvw6XReDj5oNVq3G6NMqCnkr4IihKkZBFJ_LAbFFAAhoCTW7w_wcB
  25. with 2.4ghz its only the end 38mm(?) that actually do anything. all my rxs have that amount of bare cable at the end. I would say that its a faulty rx... Does it look like the end has been cut or damaged?
