  1. cheers for the reply, where best to order it from?
  2. So i have picked up an old Hyper 8 that im putting together for my boy to take out with me. asking about for any spare parts a buddy of mine gave me a box of old nitro goodies, contained in the box i was surprised to discover the below engine: it appears to be the Axial .32, firstly i realise its a couple of years old, but does anyone have any experience with this engine, reviews opinions? This one is brand new and unused. I looking to put this in my Hyper and move the macstar into my project Hyper 8, any recomendations regarding this engine? ideal or suggested flywheel, clutch and bell configuration to use and to match it up with one of the Jammin series pipes. all help and advise greatly recieved.
  3. Have you checked the idle gap? my Hyper out of the box was practically closed and caused similar issues adjusted 1.5mm as recommended which cured the issue for me. Could it be running too rich and flooding?
  4. cheers ill take a look into all of the above, thinking about it i was mostly sticking with the same circuit over and over so what you mentioned would make a lot of sence. Ill get a set of the road tyres ordered up anyway as ill mostly be using it on there untill the weather improves, thanks again for your help.
  5. sorry if the advise i provided did'nt help and caused more confusion, as mentioned the devices do differ and probably best to identify the device you have in order to seek more appropriate guidance.
  6. Cheers guys sounds like just what i need, I shredded my standard tyres fairly quick but figured it would happen. The inside edge wore away quicker on the offside front tyre, similar to bad tracking on a normal motor is that easy adjust out, im guessing the adjustable connected to the upright will take the adjustments im looking for?
  7. Have you set the fail safe up? last one i installed needed to be configured, something like tx & rx on, apply full break and while doing so press and hold the pin switch to set the failsafe holding it down it should flash to indicate that it has been set. to test that it has worked after seeing an indication like mentioned above turn off the tx, the brake should be applied as expected. hope this helps
  8. Finally began the turning my Hyper this weekend seems to be going really well and the performance increase gained better than i had expected. however with one slight complication, the stock tyres that came with the car are loosing tread rather rapidly. I wondered if anyone could advise what type of tyre i would be best off equiping?
  9. if its stalling when the brakes applied then the throttle gap 1 - 1.5mm open, however reading through the thread it appears that the gap is set right. ditch the 4x aa batteries in favor of the hump pack, i swapped mine out on my Hyper lasts a lot longer and i found that the servos appear more responsive. stick with it its a pain in the ass initially, especially when your new to it, like myself have only been running my Hyper since Sept 2013, but the crapy weather and family life have mostly gotten in the way untill recently. took me ages to get mine to idol properly just about done with the run-ins hopefully this weekend ill make a start on tuning.
  10. Same car same issue broke mine not long after having it, snapped the spring replaced the unit with a new one and have since repaired the broken one and keep it as a spare until next time. being a little too eager can be the cause of many broken pull starts so im told, that said having replaced and repaired one already i do tend to be more careful with them now
  11. Pretty much yeah, cut the cable tie, take the air filter pipe off of the top of the carb and check the idle gap, also a good time to check fully open , fully closed trim settings i know it helped me with my Hyper 7 setup recently. when finished reconnect the pipe to the carb and replace the cable tie, initially i didnt fully tighten the tie, allowing me to remove the filter again while i got the idle issues sorted.
  12. New spare on order, as suggested i have managed to rebuild the damaged one that springs a pain in the ass to get back into the housing thanks for all the help guys, i will look at the start box option when the cars a little older and used as read about potential damage caused to the engine from starter box in another thread.
  13. thanks for info, ill take a look into those later
  14. Not had many issues getting it started up, keeping it running has been a little challenging but mainly down to lack of experience faulty glow plug and more recently a broken pull start again possibly due to lack of knowledge. all i can say a from personal experience follow the guides and posts of wisdom on this forum have a little patience and you can go far wrong. As posted to me on a recent thread of mine: "with the hyper engines you need to unscrew the plug very slightly before starting due to hydrolock; this will cause you so many breakages with pull starts! once the engine is up and running screw the plug up and off you go." good luck with yours, keep us posted on how you get on with them
  15. Sorry to jump on this thread I recently purchased the tq2 .28 with the above mentioned servos, do you guys have any recommendations for more suited replacements? thought id ask in advance of them failing on me me.
  16. Yeah i have the .28 Hyper 7 TQ2, if the pull starts are that fagile (not managed to knacker the one on my old MT2) i think im probably best off looking at the starter box option, i need to fit the hump pack anyway so figure ill wait till i get the starter box and backplate and install it all at the same time unless i manage to fix the current broken one first. thanks again for your help much appreciated
  17. Cheers for the suggestions guys, new one on order will have a go at repairing the old one just really annoyed as wanted to get my run-in done over the past couple of days. if i go with a starter box do i need to remove the pullstart and cap it off? and any suggestions on prefered started boxes? cheers
  18. yeah the spring is attached to the back of the pullstar casing, howver the piece that attaches to the part that spins and retracts the cord is snapped, a small piece of metal was loose inside and despite my best attempts i have not been successfull in re-attaching the spring all i ended up with ultimatly was a face full of coil as it all unraveled. thanks for your responce, im only hoping that the local modelshop has the pull start assembly instock, though they mostly tried to tell me to go electric seemed a little biast, hence why i ended up purchasing from Modelsport as the guys were most helpful. back to my old MT2 for now i guess
  19. Just wanted to know is this a common issue? I have only owned my Hyper 7 since Sept, not had much time to get the run in completed due to other commitments i have previously posted in regards to inital run issues being related to the glow plug i can confirm that replacing the glow plug has fixed that issue. today i was going to take the car out to work on the 2nd, 3rd tanks on low end circuits, went to start it up and ended up with the cord not retracting unfortunatly upon inspection it appears that the spring / coil had snapped off internally. Is this a common thing? i expected to have to replace the cord at various times, just not after a couple of tanks. just wanted some feed back from others that will have far more experience in these matters. cheers in advance.
  20. Sorry if im posting this in the wrong place, im recently purchased a Hype7 TQ2 .28 currently running it in on a block wheels off the ground, i have not managed to idle it through an entire tank as yet but techincally its on its second tank now as i have had to refill, im finding that it will not idol for more than 30-40secs unless i leave the glow starter connected, it will then run without fault. when at idol the wheels are static and not spinning, intial start up the idol adjustment was a little high wheels turning and the car attempting to pull away i have set to 1 - 1.5mm gap as per recomendations. really noobish question im thinking that the glow plug is possibly knackered, but wanted to confirm if i should be adjusting any other settings, i can counter the stall by trimming the throttle up a little but was worried that in break in i shouldnt be applying throttle?? any help / pointers greatly appreciated.
  21. Hi guys recently got back into RC since i had a go on a friends Truggy i'd forgotten how much fun it was. Used to race at a club in Reading many .... many years ago with my trusty Tamiya's, since then real life stuff, work kids and family life took priority. Took delivery of my Hyper 7 last week from Modelsport still running it in as not had enough time to complete the process due to bad weathers and work commitments but loving it so far. I have read that some have chosen to upgrade the steering servos in theres, could anyone recommend make and model for this and also recomend a reciever battery pack that is known to fit the Hyper 7 as im currently using the RTR supplied 4xAA battery box. sorry if these questions have already been answered, i did try to search the forums here prior to asking, thanks in advance for any advice given.
