  1. my bandit had pretty poor range when i first got it with the tq transmitter, so i got one of my old hpi ones out and put the crystal in that and my range was greatly improved, just by using a different transmitter with the stock receiver.
  2. the main spur gears cost around 4 pounds my xxt and xxb go through a lot of them if i try 3s but 2s still wears them down, though a lot slower. my xxt done the same as your xxb did and our lhs fitted a new one for free, just be sure to use thread lock on the pinion gear grub screw, and the grub screws on the parts the main drive shaft fits into as i found that they came lose on both with out thread lock.
  3. i seen a brushless strada xb in a shop and it looked like good kit for the money, as long as the drive train is reasonably solid in the non brushed version and you have it fully ball raced eg bearings, with no bushings any where it shoud be ok i think for brushless. might want to invest in a few spare spur gears though, my xxb which looks similar eats them and that even came brushless would of bought the brushless strada but it was too similar to my thunder tiger xxb just stick to plastic spur gears though its the trade off between passing along problems to the diffs, or stripping a pinion gear, the plastic spurs are designed to be a weak point in the drive train to avoid damage to other parts, more expensive and a hassle to replace
  4. make sure it has wheel bearings as my bandit xl-5 bushings didnt last very long with brushless
  5. if its fast reverse and slow forwards just flick the throttle reverse switch on your transmitter or find the setting for it if its a digital one maybe? better yet if the motor is brushless change 2 of the 3 connectors and if its brushed change the 2 around not sure what you mean by a clanking sound though, as a tt-01 in normal state has all plastic gears cept for pinion, only thing i can think of that would make a dodgy noise in a tt-01 is the motor (got a tt-01 myself and dad has one as well never had clanking noises from either) have you got another motor to try sounds like the motor might be knackered ?
  6. lol dad has spoken id better save up for a new 4.6 backplate, just happy i can prime and start the savvy now with no messing about
  7. new for sure or just get a x-l5 and put bearings and a ezrun system in it
  8. dad ended up with a spare trophy truggy 4.6 engine so i just put that in the savage and no more problems lol cept its a pig too handle at the speed the savage does now, i hope that back plate lasts longer
  9. if you have a temp gun they are really really handy, so your not worrying about leaning too much etc i find between 108 and 111c to be a very sweet spot for my hyper black it goes like a rocket with a nice smoke trail, for hours at a time just keep temps under 120c and your sorted
  10. my savage 3.5 is very bad for the roto start slipping eg not gripping. seems to be a lot of oil etc getting through the back plate onto the one way bearing and shaft, if i take it apart and clean the oily stuff off it it works like a charm for a few minutes lol ive basically resorted too using a fuel filter that also has a little squeezy thing to prime it with and my roto start catches for the first second of pressing the button then stops, i so i keep priming it with the wee squeezy pump bit and press the roto start in 1 second bursts it always ends up starting but its a pain.
  11. not had a hong nor but got a hyper black recently and it is solid for the amount of abuse it takes, cart wheels on terrain too rough for a buggy at full speed and no damage, the only thing annoying me is the pull starts think i have that sorted now by changing the one way bearing earlier check out the ishima rave as well i have one too and like it just as much as the hyper though parts arent as easy too come by but it is just as solid as a hyper for taking abuse and is a higher specced car http://www.ishimaracing.com/html/rave_m1_0s.html
  12. i really like my bandit its a pretty tough wee basher with a few rpm upgrades, and handles brushless awesome as long as you upgrade bushings to bearings although the firestorm looks like a sweet deal at the moment and would give you more choice of bashing spots been a truck with better ground clearence
  13. had running in issues with my black been too lean on factory settings and popping glow plugs a lot but now its going sweet for hours at a time of constant use with the one plug i have a lot of leccy and nitro cars as well but i have to say the hyper is the most enjoyable and hassle free nitro i have had, it holds a tune very well with only slight adjustments needed and cartwheels crashes etc and breaks nothing, im really impressed with it
  14. im stormbringers son and my hyper black went through so many plugs os8 ones too, i also had a melted pull start cord after more or less idling in the garden for the first tank, i beleive the factory settings were pretty lean or i used the hairdryer too much to be able to pull the starter lol i was more or less popping a os8 after every tank, try flushing your engine out, basically unscrew the plug then pour some full down the hole then gently pull the starter cord to move the fuel through then keep pouring wee bits of fuel down it and repeat a few times then put your car on its side exhaust exit facing down and watch all the fuel pour out the theory of that is that there might be little damaged bits of glow plug coils that you cant really see and they can wreck new glow plugs and hopefully the flushing helps to remove any remains of dead plugs dont worry it gets better for the os8's lol after flushing and richening my hyper black a lot ive had the one os8 plug last for about 5 or 6 hours of running now and 4 of they hours were 2 hours of constant running on too differnt nights, ohh i do notice mine doesnt prime like normal any more for some reason i have to open the carb up with the throttle control to enable it to prime
  15. yeh my savage 3.5 is intermittent on popping when trying to prime it, its the one way bearing, i should really buy a new one lol
  16. i had one and it was pretty bad, plastic in a lot of places including the main drive shaft for the 4wd and it constantly over heated motors, stock one is 35 turns lol
  17. basically i have a ishima rave sitting here minus a receiver and a engine apart from that its ready to rip, it would be about 90-100 pounds for a straight replacement for the engine but im also entertaining the idea of putting a brushless system in it, i have a decent lipo charger and 2 overlander 3s batterys 2700 mah that do nothing except sit there all lonely, i was going to buy a new engine for it last week but ended up buying a hyper 7 black so im sorted for a nitro buggy now heres the question how much would it cost to get the ishima rave moving on leccy power with similar speed to its nitro engine?or even between 30 to 50 mph? http://www.ishimaracing.com/html/rave_m1_0s.html thats the one we have
  18. cheers for the link, i have been looking up whether the rc18 metal diffs would fit and i keep hearing some guys saying no and other guys saying yes lol apart from that one wee plastic gear on the back of the main drive shaft the atom is a little nut job now, it does fast circles/ spins on the spot at low med throttle if i want it too and goes pretty fast at full throttle all in all its a awesome wee car oh it even pops wheelies as well lol
  19. im in the same situation for my thunder tiger xxt, i heard a lot of good comments on the fusion system here and i have a ezrun system in my rustler that performs exttremly well. im gonna buy a fusion for the xxt and order the programmer for it as well for an extra 18 quid from here, the prgrammer looks pretty sweet and has telemetry apparently for a few things http://www.modelsport.co.uk/fusion-exceed-programmer/rc-car-products/35200 looks like a pager lol
  20. hypers are awesome got a hyper 7 black last friday and got about 14 tanks of fuel through it, and the other day i took it and dad took his green hyper 7 to a pretty rough spot terrain wise and we thrashed the hell out of them, we had both hyper 7's basically cart wheeling a lot and flying off into bushes a lot of the time and nothing went wrong that couldnt be fixed in the house with no extra spares needed, lol we should of brought the sledghammer and savage to that place the terrain was that rough all in all hyper 7's are solid. im going to be different though and recommend a ishima rave as well http://www.ishimarac...rave_m1_0s.html we have both and im not yet sure what one i like better and the ishima is every bit as solid as the hypers and the ishima is a bit lighter, speed wise the ishima is neck an neck with dads green hyper 7, think the ishima has less ports on engine but its a 4 cc engine while our hypers are 3.5 cc and i believe other parts on the ishima are higher spec than the hypers but spares arent as easy to get as its not popular like the hypers although like a hyper its unlikely you will break an ishima part
  21. hey guys im running a losi xcelorin 6000kv brushless in my atom and theres one little problem thats starting to annoy me, the small gear that fits on the rear of the drive shaft for the back diff keeps wearing down extremely fast the front diff is fine and it seems to be only the back one having trouble, any ideas if i can get metal gears for the diff on it?
  22. just watch out for the little diff gear that fits on the back of the main drive shaft, i have just went through 2 of them funny thing is the front diff is the same and its gears are fine lol
  23. cheers guys ill see what i can find
  24. it was getting dark and i was just running about my street on 3s and i didnt notice a raised bit of concrete on the side of the grass, so i erm hit it right head on at full speed lol it got pretty damaged as you can imagine the rear suspension mount snapped of the bulk head, battery bar posts ripped off, parts of motor mount snapped or bent and mangled a steering link, i have replaced every thing except the motor mount no more 3s shenanigans for me lol
  25. hey guys i had a nasty crash a while back while running 3s on my xxt i have since rebuilt the truck but amarang are taking ages and ages to get me a new motor mount for it. im wondering if any one knows off any alternative motor mounts i could use on my truck that are easy to get hold off? the motor mount is the only thing stopping me from running the truck
