  1. just actually looked at my sandviper and it does not have a 21 turn motor but a thundertiger 17 turn one that tries to melt itself lol... no wonder its nuts and loads of fun just bear in mind the holiday buggy comes with a 380 motor and the sand viper comes with a 27 turn 540 size motor, not sure if the holiday buggy needs a different motor mount if you were to put a 540 size in it at a later date. i love the sandviper lol running a similar or the same speed controller you mentioned in my tamiya tt-01 and it works good, got the one with lipo cut off so i use that on 2s lipos with a brushed 21 turn motor
  2. i want a rc18 buggy kit so i can use my 6000kv motor in it or just get a mini losi eight rtr, one of the 2, im just not sure what one, if i got the losi id still have a esc and 6000kv motor lying around argghhh, plus i want to do something with my micro losi 1/24th short course already got lipos for it and removed the top part of chassis so it stops melting gears lol i also want a electric hyper 7 and a leccy mini revo or savage argghhhh i need a job
  3. just aquired my dads 2 week old surge 12 scale buggy as he bought himself the monster truck version in my lhs earlier, seen him driving it from a shut window earlier and it looked pretty nippy plus i could hear the tire noise i see model sport do the larger brushed motor for them and the brushless set ups, im getting tempted as i like getting small scales and making them do daft stuff lol had a maverick atom but the diffs didn't like my 6000kv losi combo on 2s and i think that motor is too small for the surge lol also noticed its li ion cells are the same size as ones i use in ecigs and my ecigs have a single cell going to 3400mah, 18650 batteries im getting tempted to experiment there, eg solder 2 together and the wee balance thingy and see if i get double run time from e cig batteries
  4. yay i was in my local hobby shop earlier and they had some hardcase lipos in the price range i was wanting to spend and the mah so i got 2 so a total of 3 5000 mah lipos now, my bandit gets some sweet run time on them and the 3300kv motor picked up 2 5300mah nimhs for my starter box too
  5. one of my leccies is a sandviper kit which is the same dt-02 chassis as the holiday buggy, theres ready to run ones of them but the kits have some of the upgraded components included, eg oil filled shocks and full bearings running a 21 turn brushed motor in mine on stock gearing with a 2s lipo and a esc taken from my xl5 traaxas bandit, its pretty nuts and loads of fun bought a second dt-02 kit just to use for spares and im glad i did, this one needs the chassis replaced, it has been heavily used and been run over by a nitro savage lol i got a soft spot for tamiya too and the sandviper dt-o2 chassis is one of my most used models, hence i need to replace the chassis
  6. hehe kool, im getting tempted to brushless my hyper 7 as all my leccy's are 10th scale
  7. well ordered 2 of the turnigy 5000 mah 2s lipos from them and i ordered specifically from the uk warehouse and then they take it upon themselve's to ship them from hongkong, so when delivery guy comes im stung for an extra 20 odd quid, and then to top it off one of the lipos was faulty. their live chat help was total bs lol it was my first order with them and i prefer not to deal with them after that, their loss tbh i got a fleet of 20 odd ground models needing stuff and im just starting to use the models again, got helis planes and boats as well. ill have a look at the suggested lipo brands, cheers guys
  8. hey guys im after a 2s hard case lipo about 4000-5000mah, and i don't want to spend more than forty quid so 30-40 quid is good. i see quite a few on model sport but im unsure of the brands and what one is best etc. please don't say go to hobbyking as they ****ed me over recently and i don't wanna open a can of worms the battery would just be used in 10th scale models so no mad discharge rate required, so any opinions on what the better brands are for reliability that modelsport stock? going to be used in buggies and stadium trucks with motors ranging from 3000 kv up to 6000 kv.
  9. hehe no worries, just fixed my leccy thunder tiger xxt and had a quick run with it in the street ( the metal gear speccy servo was knackered going sweet now though and got a hpi flux bullet esc and motor in it, and my bandit has the xxt's system in it which makes the bandit pop wheelies on command ) edit: hehe i can imagine how heated this might get
  10. i wasn't slanging any thing, i like both for different reasons
  11. i use both and just getting back into ground vehicles that use both nitro and electric, between me and dad there are probably over 10 leccys and 10 nitros, i own most of the leccies. dads not into electric as much as me as you can guess but he knows they are faster and a lot less hassle. yet i like the fun of getting a grunty engine to start up and do what it is meant to do including retuning it if the weather changes etc meh their both fun, just cannot run a nitro in the street at night while my leccies doing similar speeds can. we bought piemans rustler years ago 6000kv motor etc and that is fast very fast and in perfect condition but still not enough to get my dad or me away from nitros. im actually toying with the idea of a brushless hyper 7 nitro's have so much more mechanical workings to tinker with and need so much more love that its a joy when they start up and run good plus all my leccies are only 10 scale or lower the rustler pretty much breaks tie rods etc if you try to steer it btw but its the fastest thing we have in a straight line
  12. ah kool got a 3.5 with some bullet proof diffs and reverse gearing here, it has a 4.6 engine straight of a trophy truggy though, knew i recognised the 3.5 shell that trucks like some sort of tank, more throttle lol
  13. looking good, both the hyper and the savvy that a 3.5 size savvy?
  14. lol not going to im aware thats not one of the things that should be touched outside the factory, been a fair few years since i was avidly using the models along with dad and my mate and i had forgot a lot about nitro engines, getting there though im starting to get confident at tuning them again, had the ishima rave going sweet on the old fuel untill the plastic bit on a turnbuckle broke lol yay fixed been spending loads and loads of hours going over models and fixing some and loads of testing and making sure their working fine, thankfully its just minor stuff on most of them, waiting on parts is annoying me though, thank god my thunder tigers don't need any lol dad reminded me the other night that my hyper 7 has always been heavy on the plugs just not as bad as at the moment and i remember why i got a starter box, with pull starts i could start it no bother but when running around even slowly, the engine would some how break the pull start spring and it would fly off when running, just got a pull start case minus spring on the end of it and sealed the holes, hence why i never noticed it was loose a wee bit lol ill get the engine flushed out etc and see if theres any difference thanks guys
  15. hehe thanks guys, yeh i have not touched the mid one

    He's happy! !

hehe nice one i bet your lad is well happy i doubt i could have the same restraint on throttle control your lad has if i had one of them and im 31 lol
  17. thanks guys, yeh the fuel is old but dads making us use it before we open a new bottle lol done some cleaning and maintenance on it earlier, replaced a torn rubber seal where exhaust goes into engine and the pullstart case was a bit lose, engine head is tight. no air leaks on fuel tubing or fuel tank. ill try flushing the engine next time i get a chance and can buy more glo plugs, then find the stock settings. thanks for the help guys much appreciated
  18. hey guys got an old model hyper 7 black tq, the 3 port .21 engine, just recently dug out the models after years of no use, it seems to be eating glowplugs at an alarming rate. for example a new os8 plug lasted about 4 minutes earlier lol and it keeps cutting out after using only a quarter of the fuel in its tank. any ideas? running nitro 25 fuel, think its opti fuel or something its the pink decent stuff.
  19. you might want to hold off on that. from the pics the motor looks like it is a brushed one? when i first built my tt-01 i had the exact same problem, turned out the brushed motor that was pretty new had infact knackered its brushes. cheapo brushes put in the 17 turn motor and years later it's going strong eg under a tenner for new brushes and the pic u put up led me to beleive its brushed plus rebuildable like the one i had trouble with
  20. i tried brushless in a tt-01 was only a 3300kv motor with 2s and it was way to much for it, kept flippin and rolling etc
  21. got a quite a few thundertiger models and getting spares for them is pretty bad as the uk distributor is crap tbh, can take months for a motor mount etc to arrive when my local model shop orders it in for me. its a pity as the models are pretty good just the wait time on spares is horrible
  22. for garden use how about a tamiya sandviper kit? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/tamiya-sand-viper-dt-02-/rc-car-products/25688 i love mine even though i have much more expensive models, oh mine is handling a 17 turn motor on stock gearing
  23. hehe your wife sounds awesome psst whats her number????
  24. ahh the age old topic of hmm that buggy handles different than mine even though both are 2wd..... moves onto hmm i fancy a 4wd buggy...... hmm how about a truck..... hmmm maybe a monster truck..... oh a drifter thats a nice twist ill have that too....... and on and on ...... and on thats been my experience lol then theres boats planes and helis and subs oh god where will it end lol me and dad and my freind who lives here have way too many, plus in a shop hmm i fancy that what do you 2 think (yeh get it it looks awesome and give us a shot) doesnt help probably got about 5 nitro models and about 10 leccy ones and thats just me and only my ground vehicles ohh theres a tank in there too lol
  25. grab your self a hyper 7 black or sport model, the .28 engine is for trucks like the hyper st it actually revs lower than the .21 engine that you find in buggys, but for some reason theres a a hyper buggy out there with a .28 engine, i would avoid it theres nothing wrong with the engine but its to low rpm for a buggy and over powered. dad has a hyper 7 sport tq .21 engine and a hyper 7 st .28 engine and i have a hyper 7 black .21 engine with more ports. take the advice and be happy with a .21 engine that rips up the place the .28 engine in dads st truck is more tempermental than the ones in both our buggys as well as revving lower buggy needs high revs and both .21 hypers will not disapoint on speed oh an get a temp gun for a tenner its awsome for tuning the nitro engines i find the sweet spot for my hyper 7 black is about 111c keep what ever engine below 120c and ur sorted
