hiya guys dunno if you can shed some light on this

i run my b4 indoors its stock electrics and gearing ( i think ) im running 81 spur and 23 pinion

the motors the 17t reedy that come in it as stock and the standard esc

im running 3300 and 3700 matched cells

when doing 5 minute heats the motor gets REALLY hot and the esc is hot aswell but the baterys are keeping cool

its really really quick aswell

any ideas im thinking it could be the esc at fault ?

havent got a clue myself iv tried smaller pinnions but no real change

23 is geared quite high, I ran my B4 on a 24 pinion and it got very hot, you need a powerful motor to be able to get that sorta gearing. try going down a few teeth on the pinion gear.

it is super tight at gilstead too so that needs to be taken into consideration.

I was running too high a gear on me tourer and was recommended to change to a pinion about 2 teeth less and it was amazing the difference in heat on the motor (24 to 22).

With my experience of Associated cars, they come quite overgeared from the factory. Buy a range of pinions from stock and under (and maybe 1 or 2 over) and have a play with the gearing. I still think that no one can just tell you what to run, so it's best just to buy a few so you can change when changing motors.
