Maverick Strada Wont run correctly on Traxxas Titan 12T 550

Hi

 

Fried the motor on my sons Strada XT so we figured might as well try something a bit faster. Found a cheap Traxxas Titan 12T 550. But it runs a bit odd. I will only run slow forward when pulling the trigger/fast backwards pushing the trigger. If i flip over the wires from ESC to motor the ESC flashed red and nothing happens. I guessing its a fault. With this done I can reverse channel 2 on the transmitter, but then the car starts moving by itself unless I push the trigger all the way forward.

 

I've also tried flipping the diffs. But no matter what I do, I can't make it run full speed either forward/backward  with trigger pulled all the way in.

 

Can anyone help me out here.. I've noticed the Traxxas Titan 12T motor only has 2 capacitors where the standard Strada has 3, But Can't really see how this could cause any of this.

What the limit on the esc? It might not be able to handle the motor.

ESC should be able to handle it. Limit is 540/550 motor 12t.

 

But read something about a user on Traxxas Forum with similar problems on that motor in a build. The reply was that is was most likely due to advanced timing of the motor. Don't know a lot about it though.  But I've tried everything. Not able to get it to Run full speed when trigger is pulled in either direction. So will probably go brushless now

I had a similar issue with the Firebolt 15t I stuck in my strada... flipping the wires worked on that one though.

 

Not sure I would recommend the motor anyway as I have already had one go pop

The maverick esc can only handle down to 15T motors .The titan will draw too much current

It says 12T in the manual from memory.

Most people suggest 17T is the sweet spot anyway.

I put a 3t sensored motor in my lads.... With a viper vtx10r esc.... And yes.... The diffs took it.... Horrible to drive but it survived until I sold it on

Did you change the stock grease at all?
