Hi all

my sister is buying my boy his first road chassis for Christmas  this one https://hobbyking.com/en_us/blaze-r2-1-10-scale-carbon-fiber-touring-car-with-unpainted-bodyshell-artr-silver.html I'm quite new to the RC world and we have only had trucks and buggies  so I'm not really sure what to suggest to my sister in the way of motor and esc  so any help would be great

cheers

Nathan

Its a nice looking kit mate. I can't recommend the best option how old is the boy?

Is he going brushless or brushed. Lipo?

If i have to recommend its this BL at 4300kv is a 540 sized motor. 60a waterproof esc its a brilliant set up for £32 they might be cheaper in other ads. £26 is the best ive seen. But they've gone up since being popular.

I think they are crazy good value for money. Compare it to a vxl on paper the goolrc is even or better with a free fan. Inside an rc its the same performance. But price is like 4x more for the traxxas vxl.

The esx on its own is under £10.

There's also a 380 sized finned motor idk it may or may not be a better option motor. Less power easier on the cars diffs and younger drivers etc.

Like this. Usually recommended for things like tamiya TT01. If the hobbyking chassis has weak diffs ????? Idk. This motor might help with reliability. The orange motor will be potent.

We have their 3500kv option motor in 4x4 stampede on 2s and its powerful. Shocking power even but kids adjust quickly my daughter looks like the better driver lol. As ill be trying something silly.

first on road car? and your going carbon........id have gone for something more widely available and maybe even cheaper. The only issue i can see as it does look like a nice designed car. that spares maybe an issue as there will only be hobbyking who carry spares. where as mentioned above a tamiya tt01 or tt02. spares will be all over. local hobby shops. online. ebay. fellow rc'ers. as well as lots of other manufacturers making spares and hop ups too.
