Hi all, just started to get into racing with 1/8th scale buggy, outdoor astro, got 2200kv torro x8 motor, and 120 amp hobbywing esc, I know the esc probably was not the best choice here but motor seams good, olny issue is motor gets hot after about 10/15 mins running time, its in xray xb8e running standard gearing from stock set up, should i go down a bit with pinion size to help here, running at ndor off road,

You taken any temp readings with a temp gun? Worth getting one.

Touch alone can be deceiving. Safely I'd go a maximum of 70 degrees Celsius.

If motor hot then yes drop a pinion tooth size or 2. Grassy surfaces even astro cause friction. The higher the friction the harder it is on the motor, the easier you need to make it ie: lower pinion = less stress.

I'm not really rating these brushless systems when it comes to surfaces like this :( All the torque they use to get the vehicle moving is where the heat is mostly generated.
