lel-95
more bumper build done, all braised together and i've welded on a winch plate/mount which just needs some holes drilling and trimming down to size then it'll be ready for paint. Its solid
Geeze
Proper fabrication, excellent work
lel-95
thanks i'm going to finish this front bumper, make a rear but that is just a simple design and then hopefully RCbitz should have the SSD side bars in stock so all the external plastics bits are being slowly phased out. The Dark Knight
Nice fabrication work I'd like to get brazing kit myself, maybe once I've got a house with a garage.
lel-95
cheers Braizing is nice and cheap plus its dead easy to work with, its nice knowing you've made something rather than just buying it too
M and M
looking at your vice I'd swear you where in my garage!
lel-95
I can confirm i'm not in your garage My garage is an absolute mess at the moment and i can't find anything i look for, bloody nightmare!
lel-95
was gonna spray it black but someone managed to use all the black from the garage and left me with some chrome effect paint so i had to try it, too jazzy? I don't think it looks too bad, screams poser though!
lel-95
fitted it anyway, happy with the outcome I'll trim the bottom of the mounting plate and i need to shave a fraction off the mounts to make it a bit more snug to the body but i like it
lel-95
Dropped the body posts today so it doesn't stand like its on stilts anymore and the wheels actually sit in the arches now, i'll probably have to trim the shell a bit to stop any rubbing but thats fine with me. I noticed the shell has quite a few battle scars, i'm gonna run this one until its dead and i'll replace it with the same body. rear bumper is off as im making a steel replacement
lel-95
made a real simple rear bumper, tucked right up unlike the original one.
chewbacca
I could be wrong but it looks like the rear wheels are sitting a touch too far forward.
lel-95
looks like just the angle of the pic, they're sitting spot on on the bench

Geeze
New bumpers look fantastic Now you've got the hang of it, are new sliders on the cards?
lel-95
thanks I was hoping to buy the SSD rock sliders but if they're pricey then i'll definitely have a go at making some! Also have a set of new tyres and beadlocks on the way from America!
The Dark Knight
If I had the equipment to make a lot of my own parts, I would. It'll make your rig more unique and give you a sense of satisfaction. Your bumpers certainly look great
lel-95
Thanks bud! I wish i had more time and patience to make stuff, my biggest concern with making sliders is making both sides a perfect mirror image otherwise it'll annoy me, i'll probably have to make a jig or something! Trans4Mation
Bumpers look spot on Lel , regards the sliders I'm sure the stock ones are linked to the inner or outer link setup , I think the stock ones work well other than folding in now & then on side impact, where if they was steel I think the impact would soon bend the rails & knock tranny out of line but it's just test & try & depends how hard you use the rig my brothers take a good beating all the stock links I ended up replacing last night with home made ones the stock ones are like lolly pop sticks lol. Great rigs though he's only swooped shocks for boomer ones & links upto now even stock tyres work well. lel-95
success! Stuck the tyres in the freezer to harden up a bit and went to make some sausage butties, went back half an hour later and they were nicely chilled, popped into the beads like they grew there Taking it up Stanhope tomorrow so they'll get a bloody good testing Edited May 1, 2015 by lel-

These Pitbull tyres are amazing, literally point it at something and it WILL climb it, it managed to go everywhere, and more, than a 2.2 crawler did!
