The collection begins (again)

There's a link to a build thread in the US on my thread, chap said it kept slipping too easily, might have been user error though, I went back and re-did it and never reported back. I think if you are going to be locking the diffs and using beadlocks then it's probably worth considering. If not I don't really see too much merit in it.

Sharkfat, I put a Bruiser kit off for ages, honestly though, I'm so glad I finally went for it. If you're looking for it as a serious performer, look elsewhere, but if you fancy it as an engineering masterpiece and a collectors item, you won't be disappointed. I can't comment on performance as I've not had it out of the kitchen yet ;)

I personally think its a very comprehensive kit, having built it, for me it has been worth every penny of the current price (in the UK At Fusion

Is fitting the slipper set up worthwhile??

Yes noj i must agree with nito, i dont see the point in a slipper set up unless you are planning on some serious crawling, i have not fitted one to mine as its going to mainly be sitting on a shelf

just a little update on this thread, i have been working every day since christmas so i just have not had the time to properly sit down and do some rc related enjoyment, i have however managed to finish off my mk2 escort, here she is and im very happy at the result, i know shes not vintage but it is a tamiya chassis  :whistling:

i have however always got time to buy new rc's  i picked this up last week and its a bit more fitting to this thread, love the tamiya brat, one of the best tamiya's imo.

im thinking yellow with a matt black rear bed, dont know why but i think the brat looks wicked in bright yellow instead of box art red, with some extra scale details.

I have a week booked off work in the next couple of weeks so im really looking forward to cracking on with my bruiser,as well as the brat and i also have a 3rd gelande 2 to do as well  :hahadance: im so looking forward to break from work so i can spend all week hopefully finishing off my rc's, i will obviously update with more pics when im doing them

Well i finally managed to get my display case, and finish the awesome bruiser  :hahadance: buying a display cabinet kinda spurred me on to get it done, i thought the decals were a right pain in the backside to line up perfectly, anyway i did my best and they turned out ok i think, not perfect as i wanted but close enough, some pics of the finished article.

i still have a few small details to paint on it and my brat to finish off yet, but im trying to decide what my next tamiya purchase will be, ive had 3 sand scorchers over the years but i want another one defo in box art flavour, avante 2011 or hold out for a nice blackfoot, ive never had a blackfoot, the original one that is, mmmmmmmm choices choices, i really want a celica grb or a 959 but needs to be in very good condition and not silly money, if anyone has one give me a shout lol.

Wow watchman, another really nice blue (is that the tamiya colour?) and another completed Bruiser, looks ace!...came out of nowhere, one minute its white, then its all done. Congratulations, hope you enjoyed your therapeutic downtime off work!!

Cabinet looks great, and I can just about spy the brat beneath. I like the brat, looking forward to seeing that done. I went for an Avante for the next proper build (though it hasn't arrived yet), RJJ's fault with his egress build! With all the metal and carbon parts it looks Bruiseresque in the engineering department so it ought to be a satisfying build and should look great in the cabinet!

Nice one! Will you be running the Bruiser at all?

Very nice bruiser mate, ive found using water can help with stickers it lets you slide them around then wipe over with a cloth and they stay stuck. Kinda like airfix transfers. I was skeptical first but it works well. But you did a great job anyway.

Cheers guys and thanks for the tip rcbutcher ;) i might try that next time.

Nito, yes buddy its the stock tamiya ts colour they recomend in the build manual, after a bit of sanding to smooth out all the mold lines i used halfords plastic primer, 4 coats of that first and then then 5 thin coats of tamiya paint, the plastic primer was quite a dark gray which i think has helped give it a nice rich colour.

Not going to be running this at all, maybe around the living room on christmas/birthdays etc, ive run it around the house to check everything was running smooth :) i am also doing another crawler build at the moment, its a vaterra ascender with a hilux body on it :) so that will give me my hilux fix lol

I meant to say that the lettering on the rear looks really neat too.

I've never bothered with the water and a couple of drops detegent trick on other shells (to be honest I only found out that you could with Tamiya stickers about a month ago) but I think I will definately with this one. Used to do it years ago on vinyls when I worked at a signage company. It should make it a lot easier to apply.

Any pics of the whole cabinet?

Cheers

Nito

I decided on the display going in my living room, so i wanted a cabinet to match my fireplace which is oak, the mrs was ok about it to  it will hold 6 tamiyas in total so i need to choose wisely, the gelande 2 will be removed off the bottom shelf once i have more tamiyas  has lights fitted but i want them changed for led's, so it does not get as hot and fade my prize cars, it is solid and sturdy though

'A run out'!?!?!

Wash your mouth out, my good man, the precious is to be fawned over and stroked, not subjected to dust, grass and....gravel!! Imagine the mental distress of a stone chip, or worse, finding a used dog end, lodged in yer vintage ride...I daren't speak of the dog egg...

Need a lie down and some herbal tea now....

Cabinet fever lol! Looking good.

Mine has been around the kitchen a few times! I'm tempted to have runner wheels and shell and shelf queen wheels and shell so it can get to see the light of day for special occasions lol! We'll see, willy's wheeler is on my list too lol.

cheers

Hello the watchman,

Are you still looking for a celica grb? There is one for sale in Holland and it doesn't look that bad. http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/hobby-en-vrije-tijd/modelbouw-radiografisch-auto-s/m893336690-tamiya-toyota-celica.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr

The text only says it comes with two servo's but no radio and no box either. Not sure if pay pal is excepted. On that site we usually use a bank transfer.

If you like I can contact the seller for you, and ask if he ships to UK? He has the porche too but not in a great condition.
