Yes I think in the long run a better ESC is going to be the way to go. 

 

However a member here came up trumps with a stock ESC and I've installed it minus the UBEC as I'm just not convinced that didn't effect it somehow. 

 

 

Much neater and I'm not 100% sure it made much difference when it was working anyway.

Quick update. 

 

It's transpired that the ESC also took out the receiver

 

 

I didn't notice it when I powered it up to check the ESC, but it twitches really badly when use the steering.

 

So yet again by some incredible coincidence a forum member had some for sale

 

All fixed now, just need get saving from a decent esc

Here's a good reason why not to take your Summit to the beach, I only pulled this apart a while ago and it's probably only been out twice. 

 

Never ever again, this will be added to the no go list along with water and muddy mulchy woodland floors.
