THE E-Firestorm Thread

Recommended Posts

It's the lack of power I was worried about. I know I am getting better but I shouldn't be able to drive the car at full throttle around a Tarmac track without braking for 90dg bends.

I have looked at the manual and it does say the esc is programmable for different settings but doing it manually looks a minefield

Good evening chaps,

Im new to this forum and to RC..

Please may i borrow some expertise to help me out?

Iv recently purchased from Ebay, the latest hpi e-firestorm, its the brushed version, with the water proof bits.

Now first off the battery is rubbish. Iv looked through atleast 65 pages so far on this thread and cannot find a link to a decent lipo or the newer nano tech turnigy that would suit my car in the brushed form that it is.

Please if possible can somebody link me to a purchase of everything i may need, i.e charger, battery, connectors cables ect.. That would be very kind :)

Secondly, i will be, at some point, upgrading the motor to brushless, Im aware i need to acompany this with an esc, iv also been sifting through many posts and cannot understand whats what... :( Please can somebody link me to a suitable upgrade kit? that will suit the battery also?? or just suit my car ?

Iv found out that i need a front bumper as upon learing the roaps in the street, i hit a kerp. i dont want to kill it just yet! lol... possibly a wheelie bar at the back too..any links for these atall??

Sorry for all the asking but with no experiance its a mind field of information!! starting at the bottom feels lonely lol...

Many thanks

Chris.. (Triton84)

Hi Chris welcome to the forum.

Right batteries
http://www.hobbyking..._APPROVED_.html
http://www.hobbyking..._Lipo_Pack.html
http://www.giantshar...k-p-406696.html

or any other 2s with the correct dimensions where the wires exit the top of the pack, other ones can be made to fit but will require chassis chopping err I mean modification ha.

For brushless combo your looking around the 8.5 9t mark ie

Matching battery with combo (courtesy of Nitroholic example of 80a esc)

There is a simple calculation that will confirm your chosen battery can do what you need.

Take the Mah rating and divide by 1000. Then multiply by the C rating. This will give you an indication of the current that the thing can supply. You will see batteries listed with a steady and a burst C rate....ignore the burst.

Your ESC is rated to 80 amps, so make sure the battery can supply a bit more than that.

so...for example.... a 4000Mah LiPo rated to 30C. ...

4000 divided by 1000 = 4

4 x 30 = 120amps

But if you fitted a 2000Mah 25C battery....

2000 divided by 1000 = 2

2 x 25 = 50amps.....and after a bit of full throttle abuse, that would probably be puffed up like a balloon and fit for the bin.

Charger quite a few people I know have these

or this is even better http://www.modelsport.co.uk/overlander-rc6-vsp-80watt-7a-output-ac-dc-charger-with-fan/rc-car-products/379060
Or the IMAX B6 or Turnigy Acucell 6

Connectors are more personal preference than anything else but avoid tamiya ones.

Re bumper you've been through 65 pages and didn't read the first post on page one lol it's linked in there

Brushless FF is a great truck and will provide countless hours of enjoyment.

My life would be so much easier if someone would provide me with info like this first when I bought my FF years ago.

Great work buddy.

Afternoon all,

A little help required regarding t-bone racing front bumper for my e-firestorm.

Just tried fitting them and the rear fits ok but the front does not fit at all. The holes on the bumper are too wide apart. I can get one side of the screws in but the others 2 are just not going to fit straight in. Has anyone else had problem with these. Am about to email TBR too, see what they say.

The part number is: 26012, the same one stretch linked on the first page of this topic.

Thanks folks

No stretch, exactly the same, 2 up and 2 down, all in line. When I've got the bumper lined up on one side, the centre of the hole is just on the edge of the hole on the bumper, if that makes sense!

Maybe a pic will help.

I'll post one later if helpful, just heading out soon.

Cheers though.
