sticking brushless moters

Recommended Posts

Hi Forum. JUst getting back in to 10th racing after a 20 year break, so i am in need of help and advice.

I have an Excced sport esc and two 13.5 turn moters.

The problem is, the moters wont start spinning. Once you start the moter moving by giving the car a pust or kick  it goes fine as long as the car is moving. Im useing 3300 nImh battery suspect the esc is shot.

Your advice will be helpfull. Is there any way of testing any of the components?

Thanks

Brushes on a brushless motor?? ;)

How healthy is the battery? Could be it can't supply sufficient current to kick start the can.

You can open the cans to check the rotor, magnets and coil are in good health, bearings too. Without a motor tester, you'd have to try the cans on a different ESC to confirm rude health. Same goes for the ESC, you need a known healthy can and battery to check it.

The pack may not have enough punch to get the can turning...of course a faulty ESC could be involved.

Is the kit old?

Testing with a lipo would determine if the combo is running correctly, have you access to one?
