Lord Teddy
Good evening people of MSUK. I happened to stumble across the website whilst actively looking for information regarding the RC Car world - so I figured I would sign up and introduce myself and let you know a little about me and what it is that I'm looking for. I'm Teddy, I'm currently studying a bachelors degree in Motorsport Engineering which is a very time consuming course, but any free time that I do get to myself is spent building my Citroen C2 Rally Car... Something a lot of tears, blood and sweat has been spent on; there is still a long way to go too. So I'm now looking for a little hobby, something that I can just decide to pick up and take my mind away from the worry of exams and grazed knuckles of building a competition car. So I figured an RC car may potentially be the 'little hobby' I'm seeking. However, I have no idea whether I want a Nitro, Electric or Petrol car. And again, whether I want a touring, drift, buggy etc. So I'm open to suggestions but I would also appreciate it if you could give me a reason as to of why I should or should not look at a specific model etc. I'll be doing copious amounts of research before making up my mind, but opinions is always something that should be considered. I want to thank you in advance and say that I look forward to reading through all of the forum material and talking to the members! Regards Teddy. 53HRA
Hello and welcome, Theres loads out there to pick from bud - it'll need a little filtering down so we can help Where will you be running? Is the surroundings (ie neighbours for example),ok with the sound of a nitro or petrol engine? What sort of budget are you on? What surface would you like to drive on? On road,or a bit of off-roading? Maybe both? Would you like a ready to run vehicle or a buildable kit from scratch? Is speed more important to you,or would you like something a little slower and realistic such as a scale or rock crawler?
Lord Teddy
Thanks for the informative reply! Well after some reading last night I think I am set on picking up a Nitro car, and definitely one that I have to assemble myself, not an RTR. As for the running of the RC Car, I don't think I will be taking it serious enough to be joining any clubs to start taking it competitively, instead I just simply plan on "bashing"... But I would perhaps like something I could maybe take off road on occasion but predominantly use on a car park. I've been swaying towards the idea of a rally car... As I think that would better suit what I want to use the car for.
QRC
Hi and welcome, get an RTR if you are doing the nitro route, always loads to tinker with.
