Alex97
hello, just thought I would share some of the pictures from the build.I ordered the kit on Wednesday night and model sport received them in on the Thursday and shipped the same day, very good service as always. As I was not in yesterday I paid for it to be delivered today. At 9.20 this morning Leon (dpd man) dropped it off.the build started ASAP.The only thing that I wasn't happy with at all the that the parts in bag A had been drilled to small, luckily it was only bag a so I just drilled them to the right size.ill be keeping this up top date as the build goes on.now for the build, each picture is for each bag until the end as I wanted to get in soldered into in case I ran out of solder so I could go and get some more to day.ill let the pictures do the talking... Alex97
It is. The quality is amazing compared to the other Associated cars. A few corners have been cut but for
Alex97
Its done! The only bad thing is that the motor gave up. It was only around 5 packs old and working fine before, I'll give MB a ring on Tuesday and see what they can do. Other than that the kit when together very well and the quality of the kit is amazing. I'll be running it next Sunday so I'll up date then on how it runs. For the shell I've cut it out and painted it white. I'm in two minds whether to just leave it for buy some Martini stickers? What do you think. Edited May 3, 2014 by alex97
Alex97
im going to be getting another shell as the stock seems very thin and while making the hole it just ripped.
Oh How Original
Martini sounds good, if you do it right of course (not really sure what 'right' is) but have a crack at it anyway lol. Sounds different to the normal flags and stuff.
Alex97
its a sticker pack so they will just go over the shell. My friend who also has a b5m did something similar but with a different brand and it looks really good.
Oh How Original
Aye I meant sometimes people get them and just slap 'em on and it looks crap lol.

Oh How Original
Did you get the hinge pin situation sorted out?
Alex97
Yea, I had the wishbones the wrong way lol. It seemed I missed a step out in the manual so a small part when wrong. I have had a check over the whole car to make sure its all good and it seems good. I know there will be a few issues as part need to be warn in, fingers cross it should all be good. danny boy
Have you had any issues with the shock bodies? Managed to crush one last Thursday when racing. Cant tell if its just bad luck or not quite as good as the old ones, they seem made of a lighter metal I think compared to my B4 shocks. Alex97
I've not run it yet so cant comment.
danny boy
Ah I see. Well I'm sure will love it! When I had my Durango I always never got further than the B final on a club night, first week racing without a set-up qualified 4th in the A and came second, second week with a better set-up qualified 2nd in the A, but didn't finish due to the shock issue. Can't comment on my driving, but the car definitely pulled me up a fair few places.
Alex97
i've heard other people say how much faster they are with the b5m. What type of track were you on?
danny boy
I think I solved the shock issue, the kit one was lighter than the spare I bought, must have been miscut or something. But as for the track, its a short pile astro track, medium sized, the first week it was wet, very little grip because the astro was new/compressed, so ran no washers on the steering rack to reduce ackerman, worked out well! Second week was warm and dry, the astro pile picked up so had loads of grip, put 2mm washers on the rack to get it to turn in very aggressively. Also handled very well. Yellow spike all round 25wt in the rear, 30 in the front, great setup.
Alex97
OK, that's good to hear. I race on a VERY bummpy astro that is out side. The car is currently set up stock so first week I'll keep it stock then make changes for next time.
Alex97
New shell has arrived! The qulitly is so much better compared to the stock one. The stickers were ordered tonight so I should get them on Saturday. A picture of how the wiring has been done, I know its not perfect but I ran out of my good solder and had to use some crappy old stuff. Oh How Original
I like that, little bit of a shame the centre stripe has a little gap but still a fan of that, something a bit different and not too busy.
