  1. Anyone got any cheap parts kicking around to suit any on the 1/5 scale petrol RCs please. Any of the similar models such as Redcat Rampage, Maverick Blackout, HSP, Rovan, Himoto, King 1/5 etc.
  2. Finished the other side. Had to make some shim washers for next to the bearings, I've since ordered a large set. They will come in handy for RC diffs etc.
  3. It takes some cutting and shaping with hand tools 😕 It's the only wide aluminium I have, plus he's planning on filling it with rocks. The rest of the trailer won't be made out of 6mm stuff, just those two parts...maybe...
  4. Made some more progress today. Building it this way to eliminate any twisting when carrying weight, even more so when turning and the tyres drag sideways on the ground.
  5. The Skyrc T200 has a socket for charging from a car battery if it helps. Most people just take enough charged batteries with them.
  6. The new Jeep looks pretty good. Never had any other Axial's so no idea if the chassis has been updated at all. https://www.axialadventure.com/product/1-10-scx10-iii-jeep-cj-7-4wd-brushed-rtr-red/AXI03008T1.html
  7. Made a few crawlers trailers/camper trailers in the past to sell. Now my 7 year old has said he wants one so started it today. Probably to carry stones, tree branches, a drink etc. Took a while to figure out the axles etc because I'm hoping to build it without having to buy anything. Did consider using two rear axles but it'll end up been too bulky and the suspension will get complex. Going to use the outer portal covers from the trx4 spares pile. That way I can use the bearings, stub axles etc from the same model. Had to make outer bearing sleeves to carry the inner bearing to avoid twisting the other single bearing. Discovered that some of the oem trx4 bearings will push inside of each other so that was handy. Couple of photos for now, might not make sense but I have a plan if it works. This inner pin needed to be a tight fit so used a cut down allen key and hammered in. It's going to be a 4 wheeled trailer so just need to repeat this 3 more times.
  8. You don't need a fancy soldering station. They are more for people doing it everyday. I own two irons, both about £15. A 15w small point and a larger flat ended one, think it's 45w. I use the 15w for most tasks. If I ever need to solder large things such as battery cable on full sized cars, I use my mini blow torch instead. Use heat shrink and a lighter for a tidy safe result. Glued heat shrink for waterproofing.
  9. Isn't the rally 1/10 chassis the same as an lcg slash ultimate? I'm sure it is. If you go on the Traxxas website, enter a part number and then scroll down the page it will show which models the part fits. It'll say standard (came fitted with) and also accessory part (will also fit).
  10. Appliance Electronics is the first place I always look. Other shops I've used are Greens Models, MB Models, Wireless Madness, Wheelspin, SC Models, Sussex Model Centre, Makeitbuildit, Rcmodelshopdirect, Jadlam. Can't remember the others. Servos and other electrical parts I look on Servo Shop first. What I tend to do is Google the part number and then can see which shops are selling it cheapest. Postage can change that though. Most minor, non critical parts can be sourced on eBay quite cheaply.
  11. Finished off the UDR interior. Had an idea so figured might as well try it. Two of the screens were made with a printer and some clear plastic (from a cake box 🤨). VID_20231126_180026918.mp4 Camera doesn't show too well because of the glare but there are red, green and orange LEDs. I had to paint over each one in coloured paint to cut down the brightness. Also added green and orange domed things for the effect of buttons. All powered from the small 2s lipo which also powers the cooling fans. It's called 'messing about when bored'...
  12. Few small bits to tidy but essentially done. Managed to just use things I already had kicking about and printed the two side screens. I'm happy with it. VID_20231126_180026918.mp4

  15. Cheers buddy. Had plenty of time to do most of the interior because did it during the first lockdown. Not been to any shows with the van but when we lived in Yorkshire we used to go to VW Festival at Harewood House in Leeds. Went to the first 7 or 8 when it started. Girlfriends Golf was on one of the clubstands one year.
  16. There are other changes such as larger tyres but basically yes. Makes a huge improvement in handling in videos I've seen.
  17. It's been a good van so far, owned for 5 years now. 2008 model and has now only got 76,000 miles on it. I didn't do a full conversion on the interior because we wanted to keep the second row of seats, so it's more of a day van than a camper. Can sleep two in the rear though if needed, LWB so more than 6ft of space behind the rear seats. We use an awning anyway when we go camping.
