  1. If it was me, I'd message the email contact on the link below. Worth asking them how do they intend the pin to be held in place etc. Maybe it's a design fault that they aren't aware of. https://www.facebook.com/ATOPRC/?locale=nn_NO [email protected]
  2. Some people do convert them to straight axle, I think it's more for the scale look when paired with smaller diameter tyres. It will make the gearing a lot higher, due to losing the reduction in the portals, so you'll need to lower the gearing to keep its crawling abilities.
  3. In the boxes of parts I bought there was one with a crack on the outer, maybe it was hit with a hammer who knows. Pretty sure the ones on this are that 'compressed powdered steel' ***** which the transmission gears are also made out of. I noticed the sleeves available for Xmaxx's and other trucks so figured maybe there is a need. On the plus side, at least the pins can't come out sideways and the rubber gaitors now won't slide off 😁
  4. Blackout MT After a quick online search, I couldn't find the diff cup strengthening sleeves in the size I needed. So bought some aluminium tube with an inner diameter which will be a tight fit over the cups. Clamped it in the lathe (wood turning lathe but figured worth a go) and made some sleeves. Not perfect due to cutting tool vibrations but they'll do. Pairing them off was a bit hair raising so I'll finish by hand tomorrow. Some deburring to do by hand before pressing them over the diff cups. I have some rubber boots to fit over these to keep the dirt out and the grease in. The dished groove in each centre is to give somewhere for the cable tie to seat. Gotta try these things 😵‍💫
  5. I do this too, usually about once a month.
  6. Added an extra bearing (the blue one) and middle spacer into a hole where there shouldn't normally be one. This should now give the shaft more support, prevent twisting, and save the gears from stripping. Then assembled/disassembled most of the drivetrain to fit/remove shims and remove unnecessary play. Still a lot more to do.
  7. I don't suppose you have two of these?
  8. Not sure of the official for here but probably 60/70mph. Other side of the island, about 16 miles away, officially got 106 or 109mph yesterday.
  9. Tree in my front garden wasn't far off from coming down today. At one point it was lifting the turf about 6 inches 😶 VID_20240121_124953703.mp4
  10. Out of interest, what are the pros and cons of using digital or analogue servos/frequencies? I don't mean with the kill switch, just in general.

  12. @supersavage I'm thinking I might get the Dynamite one instead now, I've found a couple in stock in the UK. Most reviews on forums say it's good, a few say had problems with it but some have also had issues with the Super Bee failsafe. Luck of the draw I guess. No idea why stock levels are so low on the branded 1/5 failsafes, I messaged a few retailers and all had the same reply of been waiting ages for stock. Thanks for your help people 👍
  13. @supersavage Thanks, I'll keep checking their site to see if get any in. Have you used that website before to buy things? Didn't notice an address on their pages, did notice a few German words though.

  16. A Super Bee remote kill switch for a 1/5 petrol. I can find them in the US but the shipping kind of ruins it. I've seen other makes which do similar things but have read of problems and failures. The super bee by killer bee seems to be the best available.
  17. Yea I did notice that. That's what made me think it's overseas because they seem to advertise everything they sell all on one page, bit like when buy from china on eBay. I'll keep searching...
  18. The website seems up to date. The guy was a member on here but last posted in about 2017. I did a quick company house search and it looks like they closed down around 2016/18. I'm trying to find a seller who has a super bee kill switch in stock in the UK, every website I find is either out of stock, overpriced, or looks dodgy.
  19. https://www.radiogearsales.com/ Are they a genuine retailer? I want to order a couple of things from them. I get the feeling some items might be sent from overseas etc, not necessarily a problem. Their refund policy is a bit nonsense, they don't seem to know about the cooling off period and distance selling rights etc. Not an issue though thanks to PayPal.
  20. The price is nonsense but does this help?
  21. It might be a light RC so adding some weight to the chassis would help. Not ideal though. Thinner fluid in the shocks would allow the shocks to compress a bit quicker, I don't think that's the issue though. Do the axles move up easily when the shocks are removed? Incase you have binding issues somewhere on the linkages etc. Also, cutting springs actually makes them stiffer.
  22. It doesn't appear to have a gyro. I was just asking because I've read that gyros cause problems with safety kill switches. I can't help anymore sorry, still in the process of building my 1/5 petrol so haven't even got the radio yet.
