  1. To be fair on NitroTek, A shop here that many advise to stay clear of because they mainly do the cheap HSP and Smartek stuff, They were selling the Atom version over here before FTX.
  2. Take KPowell's suggestion and use it, Enjoy it and go from there, It will be a great starting point, What that setup will give you is about as much as your get out of a 1/8 buggy for off road use.
  3. Yer, I remember MBModels knocking them out for 100 quid, I never picked one up for some reason, I also remember everyone that did pick one up around here started to sell them just as quick, Which I thought was kind of weird considering they were so cheap.
  4. A £55 RB ONE rolling chassis, You always take a gamble with these things just from the picture, But this one has turned out OK, Needs a strip and clean but it's all still very tight with no sloppy bits, I have a couple engines knocking about so I'll have it up and running for about 70 quid all in. Let the cleaning begin.
  5. Gotta agree with this, Wouldn't go anywhere near that with anything less than a 1/5 scale, And I'm talking proper big gas 1/5 scale, As soon as you drive on it you can physically hear it sucking power and struggling, Your just cook everything and your run times will be dire.
  6. Was have a nose around BangGood and Aliexpress and it come to my attention just how much stuff we must miss out on and just not know about. Was looking through the car and come across SNRC, Nothing we haven't seen before being passed off as the HobbyKing Berserker, But nice to know I can still get arms when they break as I'm still rocking one. Something nicer I come across was KKPIT, Never herd of them myself but there all Facebooked up and have a few lookers.
  7. For as you say, Messing about, That's way over, You can save £100 straight off buy swapping the combo for a Max8 as you would miss nothing, I'd drop them Lipo's as well as that sort of money for that spec is silly, Can get a couple sets of Zeee's for that, Or GoldBat which seem to be getting a good name. The car is gonna be the biggest bone of contention, I think it is just a cash grab by Horizon and Arrma, Some fancy alloy a race car it dose not make, I wouldn't spend 400 quid on that when 430 gets you an Associated, I know nothing about the race side of it, But I wouldn't spend £400 on a kit to bash about, I'd get the Kronos XTR or Hyper SSE and save £100. To be honest I would just buy This, In the current market this is a bargain, Pretty much the Max8 combo with a radio set and buggy kit thrown in for £180.
  8. You have to look everyday, Which I do, And I have had a lot of bargains. This cost me £55 After a good clean and strip it turned into this Paid £130 for this Biggest win was £160 for this, Brand new and unused with starter box, So there are bargains out there, You just have to keep looking.
  9. I don't think that is worth anywhere near £330, Not when an extra 15 quid gets you the 6s Python RTR, And not if it's for bashing. I do agree with the second hand bit, That's why you used to see so many brand new never run hopped to the hilt Losi 5ives on eBay for silly money, Because the owners new that after just a half hour run that 2 grand 5ive is now only worth 15 hundred quid, Run it another few hours and it's down to a grand, That's a lot of money for a 3 hour drive. Problem with second hand is prices are silly, You can get a nitro to convert, But buy the time you mess with the the mount and battery box the price gets you up to the price of a Hyper VS which can be had for £206 as a roller, I got a Nitro RB One roller off eBay the other day for 55 quid, Gonna need a strip and good clean, But loads on here were buying the brushless version for 100 quid from MBModels when RB went to the wall, And here I am paying 55 quid for a second hand 10 year old roller with no wheels and calling it a bit of a bargain.
  10. I think my Savage was probably an old 25, But what are the Bulletproof diffs, I have found over the years that all the diff internals from a high portion the the 1/8 on the market are interchangeable with each other and the internals from looking at the Savage Flux manual look no different from the internals of any of there other cars, And I have never had any problems with HPI gears on any of there cars I have had, I can Only assume that the Bullet proof bit is directed towards the internals as I have never had a problem with the diff case on any car I have ever had. Would just like to know what makes them rare and so special.
  11. Did a quick Google and great minds think alike and someone else did the same as me with the same diff, My diff orientation was different but generally the same.
  12. I remember when I did a Savage conversion years ago i used the centre mount and diff out of a Hong Nor CRT I had, Wasn't that hard, If I remember I just put a plate in the bottom a the diff mount screwed straight to that, Worked a treat, Lost all the picture when the hosting site (Think it had fish in the name) went under. It was Imageshack.
  13. Applianceelectronics have the 6s Python for £340 at the moment.
  14. I have only ever run 6s on a few occasions and never have again, It's just overkill for general bashing and in anything other than a 1/8 buggy it's a full time non enjoyable job just trying to keep the front wheels on the ground. My go to ESC is the Hobbywing WP-SC8 which can be had for a tad less than 50 quid on a good day, The ECS your find in many a RTR for which there is a reason for, It's bulletproof, You mate that with any number of cheap 2000KV motors and you have a rock solid system, Put that in a Hyper SSE with a Servo and Flysky and you have a car for £350. Problem is that setup would have been a good 50-60 quid cheaper a couple years ago, But with the pricing the way it is, Just get the Radix for 340 and be done with it, But you absolutely do not need 6s.
  15. Fair too say,Throttle control not one of his strong points.
  16. You've not really said what your run times are, What feels short maybe about right depending on how you drive it.
  17. Can someone explain to me the whole tyre and wheel sizing thing and how it works, I've seen all the 1.9 - 2.2 stuff and not sure what it all means as I'll be a newbie.
  18. Kit, I don't think the RTR are that common anymore as it's discontinued, But I have radio and servo's so will just need a combo.
  19. So what's the first day Modelsport send out orders this week.
  20. Still thinking about throwing the dice on this, But one question I have, When it comes to a scale crawler, And not a Comp crawler, Why is weight looked at as a bad thing, When you watch video's you can see which trucks are carrying more weight, But in doing so they look more scale as the extra weight allows the suspension to move into the chassis as opposed to it not, And to me a heavy truck looks more scale than not.
  21. I have always had a much simple motor calculator, Buy anything in the 2000-2250 region, Job done. When just bashing I believe there is sometimes just a little too much thinking going on.
  22. So to wake a thread, Is this truck still relevant today, I know you get better and more aftermarket stuff with the likes of the Carisma stuff and Traxxas, But at 200 quid for the kit it seems like a nice project, But are are you just better off going for a Carisma clone and throwing some saving at upgrades, It's just that the Carisma cars come across as being a bit boring, And Traxxas a bit dear for someone that just wants to dip there toe in.
