    Flying Cars

Not for me, I've already embarrassed myself watching one of these geek films cos I was into it, I turned up at the cinema and payed good money back in the day to watch BMX Bandits, SkyWays were so cool.

    Coronavirus

So, I'm in work tomorrow at 12 to find out if I still have a job, But if some good come out of this whole lockdown, It's gotta be the environment in general, I'm a five minute walk from the sea, So me and the girl took a walk down today, Born and lived here all my life, Can't remember it ever looking like this, At one point I couldn't see were the sea ended and the sky started.
  3. +2 on get it out the house now, It's a fine line between sun and bunny's in the garden, And the alternative.
  4. I know nothing about scale crawling,But if IFS is the only way to go and we have this direct bolt on, Why have all of them been and still are solid axle. Head scratch.
  5. I know, It's an Amewi, Some of there stuff looks like off the shelf, But some looks like all there own idea, There Short Course Truck looks nice, But the Crawler looks not bad, But could be a bit dear to gamble on, Wouldn't call the body detailed, But it has Portals.
  6. You can mix and match sometimes, But it starts to concern adapters and the such, Just stay away from that idea, Really not worth it, As wheels go, There isn't the same amount of choice in a given price range as there is with RC. If your 500 quid is all in then your really in the land of Logitech or a second hand Thrustmaster, The thing with Thrustmaster is they don't have the greatest rep on the reliability front, I would just look at getting a G29, And look on CEX every now and then as they come with a 2 year warranty on there stuff, There solid and proven, And hold there money so easy to sell on if you get into it and fancy an upgrade. Thing is, Your looking at just the wrong time, Everyone was at home, A wheel is just the sort of think to while away the hours, Which is why we see the prices we do THIS is an idea of what has been out there deal wise.
  7. Seat wise, This looks good value at £150 As others have said, The prices do go up and down, I don't think there is any price gouging, It's just how it's always been, One minute the G29 is 150, The next day it's 300, And it's worse in the present climate. You can't go wrong with the G27, G29 line of wheel as a starter, Some good deals can be had on eBay, Someone has a full G27 setup with stand and seat for £250 if your near Flitwick, Which is a good price, And they are just bullet proof. You say your use the the clutch, But you won't, Not much anyway, The peddles are not a bad feel, Just uncomfortable, Until you invert them, After which they become a completely different set of pedals. Does a wheel make a difference, Ho yes, It's a slippery slop to get on, If you like to make stuff and tinker. And my janky hand brake a sequential shifter, But the shifter works brilliantly, For Rallycross which I play the most, I wouldn't be without it.(Pictures come out a bit noisy). And if you play on PC, You have to get SimHub, Best £4.50 your ever spend, Wind simulator for me next, Think I've done everything else.
  8. Normal, Just means you have fluid in there and it's being pushed around the side of the piston, I always say, Run it until it don't, Then worry.
  9. I've not herd bad things about These, They come on the ZD range of cars, I know some around here have had a ZD Racing truck so maybe they will comeback with an opinion, But at 20 quid for a set in the red, And about £22 for other colours, It's a petty good price. If you don't want to wait, Your best bet will probably be These, Double the price at 40 quid, But still a good price, There from the now discontinued RB-One buggy, So quality will be up there.
  10. I suggest everyone go's back through this post and edits out any reference to the Astute, An absolute abomination of a car, Did it look as cool as cucumber in all the pictures, You bet it did, But it was just a travesty, As I said, Looks fantastic, So as a shelfa it's worth a shot, But at the time they were useless at there primary role, Driving, And to think, Like today, Tamiya used brass bushing were bearings should go through out the car, Other than about 4 in the gearbox, And to fully ball race the Astute, You had to buy another 50 bearings, Yes, You read that right 50, On a 2WD car, And even today, With the access we have to cheap bearing, It will still set you back about 40 quid for that lot, Back in the day it was more than the price of the car.
  11. The Magic Wheel is a stuff little truck, I converted one to brushless that I picked up for a tenner, Dam site tougher than the ECX Ruckus I got.
  12. I know it's based on the Super Baja Rey, So a bit off topic, But did anyone ever pick up the 30DN version of the Baja Rey, Just looks like great value at £550, Especially when you take into account the combo it comes with.

    Really

I'm not trying to make an issue, Or have a problem, It's actually a genuine question at this time when there is not much else to talk about, If it made me stop and ask the question, Then it had an impact, Or should I just ask another "What motor question". So lets take that Traxxas add, Or promotion, I know Model shows don't really exist anymore over here(Not as good as Sanddown Race Course anyway), But If I am walking around said show and come across the Traxxas stand, Who are they trying to cater too, Me, The passed middle aged man still playing with toy cars, or my 10 year old girl standing next to me. Do I have a problem with it in general, Do I give a monkeys how a lady earns better money than me, No, Do I think there is an appropriate time and place, Yer. If that makes me some sort of prude then so be it, There is a reason I can't sit back with my feet up watch Miss World anymore. I'll leave it there, And get all posts vetted in advance next time.
  14. If your new to the hobby, Depending on what you paid and wasn't after an old model , I would be more inclined to stick it back on eBay with a more detailed description, A few people into the old stuff my have a little bidding war.
  15. The small portable ones are rubbish, There OK for blowing up air beds and the like, And maybe some lite spraying, But useless for blowing off crud, You need the high pressure that the tank gives you, Without the tank you may as well put a pipe on the end of a bike pump. I had one of these that I got from B&Q, Took it straight back.

    Really

Na, Linda Lusardi all day long.
  17. Just not worth wasting money on all the fancy muc off rubbish, Bowl of hot soapy water, Brush, And the Air compressor, That's all you need, Seems like a lot of money when you could spend it on stuff for the car, But once you have it, Your wonder how you got by without it, And your use it for so many other things that you didn't think,Blowing up beds and tires, I have a cheap air chisel and nail gun, And some spray guns, Wouldn't be without one now. 80 Quid for the compressor 14 Quid for a blow kit

    Really

Like i said, I'm from that era, So don't have a problem, Just see it and wondered who are they targeting with it, Just reminded me of the calendar with the topless lass holding an exhaust for a Mark 3 Cortina. Just seems out of place in this day and age with the push against the objectification of woman that's been going on over the years(Ooh,Listen to me).

    Really

If anything, I'm actually from the time when this sort of stuff was on the wall of every Garage, But I didn't think it was the sort of advertising that was used in this day and age anymore, Obviously Corally didn't get the memo.
  20. Not the cars, But decided to to check storage charge of all me packs, Especially the 10 Floureon which haven't been used since I got them over 2 years ago, Surprising how long it takes doing 4x4s and 14x2s packs, Floureons were still pretty much bang on charge wise after all that time.
  21. Yer, There dead right, I don't think it's a case of one hand not know what the other hand is doing, More a case of Horizon wanting to wash both hands of it,Your well within your rights to now go full bore on them if being nice is getting you know where, As it is, Horizon don't have a leg to stand on, And having a proper look at there Website(Which I never really have to be honest), They are a full blown retail shop, So really have no get out.
  22. Well, At the end of the day, Your contract is with Horizon, I would just threaten them with Trading Standards.
  23. So who is the Distributor, I thought Horizon was the Distributor.
  24. This sounds to me like a distributor trying to drop the retail arm of the hobby in the you know what and give the customer the run around, We can all assume that there are not great margins when it comes to selling kits, So any warranty claim can probably be a bit of a pain for a small independent hobby shop. Now under UK law, The retailer is responsible for all warranties and returns, That's it, End off, The retailer can point you to said line in the warranty and tell you to go straight to Horizon, But you are also within your rights to tell the retailer to do one and drop your car on the counter, Your contract is with the retailer cos that's who you bought it from, And the retailers contract is with Horizon, Horizon saying you have to contact them or there distributor for service is pure buncom, The shop may not be able to provide me with warranty support, But in can provide the shop with warranty support, Who can pass it on to me, Which is exactly how UK retail law works. As I said, That one line there has the potential to cause some heated talk over a shop counter, Yes it may be easier for one of us to go straight to the top as we will probably know whats wrong with said car before we even get that far, But average Jo public probably wont, That's when the real problems start.
