  1. This all sounds promising! Just for reference, how big this KO radio is:
  2. Very nice sir! Which wheelbase is it on, short or long?
  3. @Redback Thanks for the confirmation I should be ok. That Radiolink, er link, will be investigated 👍 does anyone have experience of them - is it reliant on a smart phone, or does the smartphone enhance what functions are available?
  4. A quick question, I am collecting parts for a crawler build, and a lovely KO radio has turned up - its a beautiful thing to have your hands if you prefer stick radios, and will slip in a pocket lovely! However... it has a really short range, really, really short! I have tested it tonight and the specified 50m range is just that - 50 meters 😳 So when crawling at walking pace how far do you tend to get from your crawler? Further than 50 metres? Would this prove a problem do you think? https://www.timetunnelmodels.com/live/catalog/carson-c501040-propo-24ghz-channel-transmitter-receiver-bargain-11450-p-66898.html
  5. Sorry @Hugoagogo read that correctly now (!), Fastrax tyres from Modelsport, softer than the Tamiya proper ones but pretty tough. Pale blue foam is ok but so soft as possibly negligible? (Next time I’d go for a medium Schumacher set inside). You need to glue them as they roll off the rims otherwise. I’m using a reinforced hard chassis and TT02 hard drift A parts as well. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=390752
  6. Yeah racing via Cleveland RC - but I’d imagine the same component same factory - how have you got on with them? I mainly woodland bash this poor thing, I probably should get a buggy - but I love just love an actual car shell.
  7. The remaining end of my Yeah TT02 CVD’s came quickly from Cleveland RC - perfect fit 👍 Who knows why Yeah don’t sell them as a set! They do look a little spindly, will soon find out how tough they are... looks like I’ve gained a few degrees of steering travel too (which was the point!).
  8. Guess where I bought the CVD’s from! They were quick on delivery too, have ordered, hopefully have them with me by the weekend.
  9. Ahhh... thanks for the confirmation, I best get ordering 👍
  10. So yeah racing CVD’s need matching gearbox joints 😡 either that or there way to long and fit something else.... Still it needed a scrub 😂
  11. Technically “What did you start today” might post a picture of the result later 😁 Todays job is to try and decrease the turning circle of the worlds worst rally car by fitting CVD’s on my swamp thing rally TT02. I’m giving it a strip down and bath too!
  12. Yup one was! They add the shipping to your order, then the 20% VAT on top of total parts AND shipping. which is cheeky, but if what you want is only available out east and the sums work out, man-maths tells you its a good deal. Shipping is fairly heavy I feel, but it might include the customs handling fees - who knows, its a game of chance, you might well get hit.
  13. Have had 3 orders from RCMart in 2021 and paid 20% vat at source, with no further customs or handling charges.
  14. Nobody seems to sell a mixed set, (though id love to be pointed in the direction of one), so I just ordered a bit of everything off RC Bearings like @Glenn75. The ones RC Bearings sell seem a good quality metal - no corrosion or buckling to those in my TT02 and I give them quite a tough - and often wet - woodland bashing. I’d maybe steer clear of the smallest thickness and buy .2 & .5 size shims to start with. Once I figured out what was likely to be my common sizes, I ordered multiple in those sizes. https://www.rcbearings.co.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=179 They all live in one of these: https://www.rcmart.com/index.php?route=product/product&osc_sku=36713
  15. UK supplier or international? If you feel like it spill beans 😉
  16. Finally put the stickers on this Candy Green beauty - a bit over 30 years ago I sprayed my Beatties Grasshopper metallic green, so a little deja-vu for me! A life on the shelf beckons, but it does have full electrics so who knows! Showed the old man who could remember exactly how much my original cost him all those years ago 🤣
  17. Been out and about with the TT02 - I’m just glad the electrics I picked have been fairly swamp proof so far. I do really need something with a) a chassis cover b) ground clearance c) just some (any!) steering lock! I’m not quite sure how I beached it mind you, would you believe no amount of throttle was going to shift it 🤠 Please look away if your of a shelf queen disposition.... Quite happy with the £6.99 rinse tray from the garden centre however! It’s currently drying out and stinks of GT85, strip down tomorrow beckons....
  18. Who at Tamiya thought “Lets sell the TT02 as a rally chassis!” Half hours worth, I'm surprised no acorns fell out 🤠 0
  19. Thanks for the compliments, I have read about the mod, but in all honesty with a standard 30 year old 540 and a retirement on display I guess I will take the gearbox gamble - I have bought something current (a TT02) to accidentally bash guilt free!
  20. Of course its probably a shelf queen forever, but you never know, I might let it sneak off the shelf 😉 I always wanted a Monster Beetle - I got one in the end! I'm still drying it off now 😂
  21. Over Christmas I ordered up some repro decals (note the totally different colours) and a Lexan Kamtec body shell, (both not bad but neither Tamiya original sharp). Note to all those like myself, pick your first body shell in a squarer shape next time - those reverse angle curves are a nightmare to cut out for a beginner! Most of the stickers went in straight, and did a fine job of covering up the paintwork mistakes caused by too thicker coats being applied! Colour is Tamiya PS63 Bright Gun Metal over a white backing. I think it works out well.
  22. Since the early 90’s I have been in possession of a well enjoyed Tamiya Mud Blaster, purchased second hand from a fellow apprentice. Fast forward to just before Christmas and I rediscovered the box the it had been laying dormant in for more than a few years! So I did some research and downloaded a pdf of build instructions. The battery was shot, and so was the radio gear - I never figured out if it was TX or RX, but I bough a cheap £30 set up to test with. You know what - it roared into life! Even the gearbox didn't sound too crunchy! Mind you the well meaning Loctite I had used many years previously meant ordering a new chassis as it had eaten various parts... A set of bearings and an ESC, a thorough disassembly and reassembly and the ‘Blaster scrubbed up well. It steered stopped and handled terribly - just like when it was new 😂
  23. Hello 👋 So after disturbing a box marked ‘RC’ in the loft, I dragged out my motley collection of dead RC before christmas for further investigation. My first RC a Beaties Grasshopper long gone (death by house moves!) but the previously enjoyed £50 Mudblaster I got best part of 25 years back still lives and presently sits in bits on one end of the kitchen table. Obviously I left batteries in the Acoms receiver! I have a Tamiya Honda S660 too, built 18 years ago and shelf fresh still. After quite a bit of dredging the forums I thought I ought to say hello, thankyou and you've all made me impulse buy a TT02 Impreza Shergar
  24. Zlab, excellent advice - I've not need to solder since the last century, its nice to see some advice that didn't start and end with buy a 1000W soldering sation from Hakko. Now to melt my way through several XT connectors till I master things 🔥
