  1. Another outlaw / Torro roll cage so I don't need to keep switching it between bodies
  2. Thanks for everyone's replies! Possibly have something to go and look at on Saturday but all suggestions of a good basher still welcome!
  3. Outlaw now has his bigger wheels on and transformed back from *Torro" mode. The stiffer back end and the wider wheels mean there's no more cocking a leg - and even oversteers on a damp car park. Certainly no more flipping! Might be a bit too stiff to be honest. i'll see if I can get the video uploaded...
  4. Hopefully some of you will get a shiny new car for Christmas and will want to part with something a little less shiny 😁
  5. Don't really want to start sending my Outlaw or Rally Vandal to the stars at the skate park, so looking for something pretty tough to bash about and "get some air" as I think the kids say. Either cheap to repair or dearer and strong, I'm not really fussed. Was thinking of getting another Vandal but thought I'd see if you lovely people have anything first. Anything from 1/12 and bigger really new or 2nd hand. Will be wanting brushless ideally but I'll fit my own if not. What you got?
  6. Ha! Just had a similar experience with my vandal / rally car! Should have known better after I raked the leaves up the other day:
  7. Yeah @Redback! Covered with bite wounds with the stickers left over from the Vandal. It'll probably be all stickers soon.. 🤣 The Torro body can't take these bigger wheels - and the smaller wheels with that body won't do well in the ploughed field over the hedge.
  8. Put some wider wheels on the Outlaw for muddy field bashing.
  9. Today I took the Vandal - replaced the existing Brushed system with a Brushless one @Fourmiz29 had bought previously and not used (i.e: I stole it) and fitted a few other bits to turn it into a Hooligan / Fiesta Rally car. But as the new ESC was a bit bigger than the existing one, I took everything off the chassis and fitted the blue alloy chassis so was a total rebuild really. Even added my big Fiesta's number plate to it for a laugh. From this: Mid chassis swap (OH Senton in the background getting serviced after a good muddy session down the skate park) Filling up the gap at the bottom of the motor mount with hot glue while it was all apart: Everything back on the new chassis plate: Then the body: Will give it a better test than around the kitchen with the dog looking bemused tomorrow.
  10. My dad used to be into RC boats - mainly IC. My job as a kid would be to "drive" the electric tug boat me and him built to go and rescue the big IC boat when it conked out! Got a Mardave mini as a reward one time and never looked back.

    Any TV nerds?

It's great with my PS4 Pro (2160p capable and HDR) no complaints. 👍 Not sure on the output spec of the PS5 so can't comment on that.
  12. Swapped out the Outlaws stock servo for a low profile TeamPowers stronger one I got from @mydoddy69 - can tell it's much more direct and will work better over the winters boggy fields and long grass The std one that came with the Outlaw is now in the Vandal as it's thinner wheels shouldn't need as much oomph to turn them. 👌
  13. Now the proud owner of a Quanum Vandal so will no doubt be reading this entire 240 page thread for hints and tips! Already have a few spares as the front will share components with my outlaw which is now quite blue with alloy parts 👍
  14. A "Christmas come early" parcel from @mydoddy69 - very many thanks for the quick delivery and packing! Should keep me busy for a while. 😁
  15. Went out for a lunchtime bash in the garden (and exercise the dog) and my Outlaw suddenly went RWD. So that's what that huge stone was doing in the middle of my outlaw the last time I cleaned it out..
  16. I had some of this left over from a DIY job so tried it with skrim tape and seemed to work well at £6.99 for 290ml. Odourless and solvent free and hasn't seemed to have attacked my Torro shell at all. 👍 https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-x8-hybrid-sealant-adhesive-clear-290ml/168HT
  17. Actually - forgot I put some steel mesh on the windows (aka chicken wire 🤣) to give it bit of a "yeehaw!" Lol and deter the mutt from nibbling at it. Also Skrim taped the inside and slapped a load of hybrid sealant to help beef it up a bit.
  18. Whilst servicing the Outlaw today I noticed that the tyres are now really soft compared to the unused one that came on the body. Are the tyres foam filled and could this have now disintegrated causing the softness? And as they're superglued on, what's my chances of replacing them? Also has anyone fitted different shocks to their Outlaw? Think it could do with some decent adjustability when I swap bodyshells. The OH Senton has nice spacers to adjust the ride height. For reference the front Shocks are 135mm between centres and the fronts 95mm. ION, I fitted the Torro body and wheels today. Not much point in a photo as it just looks like a Torro now

Very true! My old trusty Panasonic Plasma G20 had an amazing picture. But then production costs for plasma are that high, gawd knows how much a 4K plasma would be. That and they closed all the plasma plants due to "the next big thing" coming along. Also did a decent job of heating the room up too 🤣
  20. Got a cheap LED bar for the Outlaw and connected it up to 3CH on the receiver - dunno how effective it'll be at driving in the dark, but looks kinda funky. (might remove it tomorrow lol)

That's nice. I've been in pre / post production of movies for over 30 years and have designed some of what you've used as well as other stuff. We all have different opinions - that's why fora are so interesting 👌 @Nick Maybe wait a bit as 8K are coming down in price (joke!)

    Any TV nerds?

You say it yourself. - all boils down to "objectively" what you want to do with the screen and how much you want to pay. Images and screen are not all about numbers for Gamut and nit scores as I was trying to portray. My car only does 167mph. True it's not as fast as one that does 170mph which costs £30,000 more.. so "not as good" but who really cares? But yeah, what do I know - you seem to have all the bases covered and a far better knowledge of TV's and images than me. 🙂 👍

    Any TV nerds?

I bought a £599 Samsung UE55TU8500 recently having had LG OLED previously. My reasons were: 1. Was going to buy another LG OLED but latest UK ones don't have any UK catchup services and are rather prone to screen burn in more than before 2. Samsung QLED are over priced for what they are. Not proper black of an OLED so why pay the premium? 3. The UE55TU8500 has a dual backlight system rather than the crude LED edge system meaning it can backlight better (more variation) than most all other LED screens. But not as good as OLED obviously. 4. Well configured "Game" modes - mates with the PS4 Pro well. That's just my reasoning why I bought what I bought - other reasons might be more important to you of course. It's tricky at the moment obviously but the only sure way is to go and see one before you buy one, but there's nothing wrong with any Panasonic / LG / Sony / Samsung TV really these days compared to years ago - it really is splitting hairs on which is better than another. Other factors like bright / dark rooms and general usage have their place too. The picture on my Samsung is good enough for me (I design Movie camera Lenses for a living so I like to think I know a good image when I see it) whilst safe in the knowledge I haven't spent £100s more for a tiny imperceptible and subjective "improvement"
  24. I would if I were you. If going metal though - has anyone got any suggestions they've used that helps upgraded power trains?
