  1. I the past when setting the mesh between a motor pinion and spur gear, I've used the paper method. Trap a piece of paper between the two gears, push firmly together then tighten up the screws. Have neither of you tried this before?
  2. At least the little slider switch to mod the radio has turned up so I can mess about with that!
  3. Can't wait to order mine, it'll be another 3-4 weeks yet though 😒. Got a complete build list bookmarked ready to order and just hope everything will still be in stock
  4. Thanks for the help and info guys, with a bit of luck I'll be able to order everything within the next few weeks
  5. I like these that you guys are using But I quite like these too
  6. The radio has 4 channels Channel 3 is normally set up on a rotary control to adjust the sensitivity on the giro. I'm tempted to keep the giro function for when its in high gear to help it stay straight Channel 4 is set on a momentary push button. so when you let go it goes back to its original state. I'd need to hold it down so not ideal for a gear shift. I'm going to de-solder the push button and change it for a slider and then it will work for a gear change switch got some beadlock wheels in mind so won't be gluing tyres
  7. 99% certain it will happen, just waiting for 'funding' Got everything I need to do a full build bookmarked at Modelsport, just hope that when the time come it'll all be in stock and not gone crazy pricewise. I'd have gone for the RTR, but I've got a half decent radio I want to use Radiolink RC4GS, that came with 2 receivers, one of which is in a FTX mini X2.0. Just need to modify the 4th channel switch from a momentary button to a slider. Channel 3 is a rotary VR and controls the giro sensitivity in one of the supplied receivers. Also I haven't done a full build in years, think the last was a Savage 4.6 about 12 or 13 years ago, so quite looking forward to that. Got a idea for a paint job, something like this
  8. @Stormbringer @everclear1984 Thanks Guys 👍
  9. Great looking trucks, I'm hoping to be getting one myself in the near future. I've had a look at both @Stormbringer and @everclear1984 build threads, but neither mention things like shock oil, diff grease or window masks. Are they within the build kit or are these things I would need to get at the time of ordering. Any recommendations/links etc As with both of the above builds, id go for the Hobbywing Quicrun 1080 ESC and 35T motor and similar servos 2s or 3s battery? Any advice would be appreciated
  10. From the factory the brakes are set at 50%, if you get the ESC programming card ( around £10 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/search/rc-car-products/385693 ) you can adjust the brakes and a few other things. Have a look at page 6 (I think!) of the manual for the stock settings and what you can adjust.
  11. I saw a video on youtube somewhere, the only differences between the original Carnage and the V2 were the body shell and the wheel colour. Might have a slightly updated ESC and transmitter, but 99% the same. As the Bugsta is the same chassis as the original Carnage, I would 99% think that it too is the same as the V2 Carnage Here is the video I saw

  13. with everything inc transmitter off set throttle direction on transmitter to reverse set throttle EPA/ATV to 100% Turn on Transmitter Connect a charged battery to the esc (I'd raise the car up on a box just in case) Hold button on ESC then turn on, keep holding until orange led turns solid then release Pull throttle trigger to full and hold, the red led will start flashing, red led will turn solid and motor will beep once Push throttle trigger forward and hold, the red led will start flashing, red led will turn solid and motor will beep twice Release throttle trigger to neutral, both the red and orange led's will blink and then turn solid, motor will beep 3 times Turn off the ESC When you switch back on normally you should be good to go. This is taken from the Carnage/Bugsta/Vantage manual for the stock ESC, receiver, transmitter HTH

    SOLD

3 month old FTX Carnage brushless complete with stock radio, speed controller, battery (Voltz 3250Mah 2S LiPo), Etronix Power Pal Pocket 2 charger, Volts LiPo charge sack, in the original box. It has the following hop-ups fitted Front and rear aluminium suspesion holders Aluminuim steering Ackerman Aluminium drive hexes Rear CV driveshafts RW Racing Hardened Acetal 49t 32DP Spur Gear and 13t 32DP Pinion (gives stock gearing) front and rear sway bar set The original stock parts will be supplied as well. The steering has been modified with an on servo saver and a 3D printed spring/circlip replacement as outlined in this post on the forum https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/138437-ftx-vantagecarnage-owners-thread/?do=findComment&comment=2514185 The hole in the motor mount has also had a 3D printed part fitted as here https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/topic/138437-ftx-vantagecarnage-owners-thread/?do=findComment&comment=2517925 Included will be 2 Zeee 5200Mah 2s LiPo's (Amazon) Etronix Photon 2.1 ESC programming card 2 generic LiPo testers Fastrax Interchangable Hex Driver Set and old HPI 'multi box spanner' Steering/servo saver mod The car has had very little running as unfortunately the area I planned to bash on seems to be full of dog walkers whenever I get (what little) time to actually run it. And as you can guess the dogs which are off the leads just want to chase it and it ceases to be fun! I think in all its been run 4 or 5 times and its never ran a battery to cut off point, so less than an hour in total. The bodyshell is in excellent condition, with no splits and only minor surface scratches. The chassis is also in excellent condition and has not been crashed. I am looking for £160 posted no offers Payment by Paypal PM for details
  15. I actually preferred the LC 90 shell, but it looked a bit poo with the lights set in the bumper. The Cub and Patriot look much more 'realistic' with proper light buckets in the shell, and the blue is really nice. Shame the black bit on the bonnet is a sticker...that's now off and I'm looking at a piece of carbon vinyl to go on. Might look odd with the scale though
  16. Since I ordered it I've been looking in the crawler sections, and every where I walk lately been wondering.......Hmmm could it climb that!! need to have a look around the garden for things to make a mini course out of
  17. A lovely little FTX Outback X Mini 2 The Carnage I got recently is great, but needs space to run it. This little beastie can trundle around the garden
  18. have you taken out the 2 screws from underneath, the two that are behind the screws that hold the bumper on?
  19. Been busy with the 3d printer again! This time designed a little blanking piece for the hole in the motor mount that allows debris to get at the spur gear. Just drops straight in, no glue needed Thingiverse link for those that want to make their own https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4554363
  20. Think that might be a pinion for a Vantage. I believe what you're getting is cogging (I'm a brushless newb, so will stand corrected) and the 23t pinion could be a cause. Assuming the previous owner kept the stock spur gear (65t) you'll need a 17t (0.6 mod) to run it as stock.
  21. Finally got to give my Edge 500 a go on my Carnage for a short while. Its mounted directly to the top plate with one of the quarter turn mounts for a bike handlebar. Its stuck down with 4 blobs of Sugru, so when I need to it'll come off without damaging anything This is a trace of me driving the car to my 'play field' with a little bashing. And this is the data with speed etc Unfortunately I only got a few minutes with it so couldn't explore the full speed etc as it was getting chased by a poxy dog!! Hopefully next time I can shoot a video with a GoPro too
