  1. Yeah there's good parts support, unfortunately parts do run out of stock quick because a lot of people own these things. You can often find people on eBay selling parts from the kit for a lot cheaper than MSRP. The tt02b can't really handle brushless power stock without shredding gears. Some people get lucky others don't. There are mods you can do to alleviate this but I don't believe any of them are direct fits. I'd love myself a tt02b but given the choice id take the absima every time. It does have its flaws like every car but many of us owners have found solutions to most of them. Will be a fun project for you and your boy.
  2. I was thinking of making one last week but was unsure if there already was one.
  3. If there was a thread listing all the bodge jobs on this forum, this would be on top 😂. Function over form init 👍
  4. I didn't know there were any nitro vehicles that have a plastic chassis(at least it looks like it). I thought plastic would melt under the heat of an engine.
  5. No the plastic chassis does the job perfectly fine. It's reinforced well. The only weak point is the bit where it protects the bumper but the front skid plate will eliminate this risk entirely. I've only ever run mine on 2s but there are plenty out there who have run 3s with no issues. Apparently it's absolutely mental. The driveline is all metal, the only thing I broke on it was a pinion but that was my fault for not tightening my motor to the motor mount properly resulting in the mesh getting messed up. For the price it's the only thing you can reliably run on 3s.
  6. Didn't have enough AAA batteries to run the banggood special so I changed out nearly all the electronics to run it on lipos. Before: After:
  7. Usually RX and TX are only compatible within a brand. So you'll have to buy a rx that states that it can bind with your specific tx. An exception to this is spektrum who use something called 'dsm'. There are variations such as 'dsm2' and 'dsmr', if you have a spektrum tx, then any rx regardless of brand that has dsm technology can pair. Compatibility within brands is not necessarily certain though. I have a dumborc tx and lots of x6fg rxs. They use radiolink technology and are identical to the r6fg receivers that work with my new radiolink tx. Despite this the x6fg rxs do not work with this tx. So if the rx doesn't state that it's compatible with the tx you have, the chances are that it won't work. This carries over to RTRs. You won't be able to bind your acoms tx to any RTR on the market right now. You'd need to buy an Rx that works with your tx and install it into the car.
  8. They definitely won't be the grippiest of tyres but that's the wheel and tread that you want. It will get the job done In terms of charging, you can do both I'm pretty sure.
  9. Well for general use it doesn't break very easily. I just tend to jump and crash it a lot. I'd definitely recommend the aluminium front skid plate, front and rear aluminium arms and ball bearings. They should cost an extra £40ish all together.
  10. I believe the Kraton has monster truck size wheels and tyres so you'd need truggy size to compete. As AJ said; mini spikes for astro Mini blocks for dirt/ clay
  11. Yup pretty much. The diffs and shocks are assembled but you have to put everything else together.
  12. Absima ab3.4 would do you back £70 so there's room for future upgrades. You could fit a brushless system into the budget easily. Unlike a lot of tamiyas, this takes brushless power extremely well. It's a cracking little car. I got a thread about it if you wanna check it out.
  13. If you're just starting out then you could definitely use the Kraton if you really wanted to. You'd need some proper truggy tires but I think it can be done. Especially if you only want to race at a local level. The best driver on the grid with a kraton would run circles around a newbie with a tekno. That being said if you see it as something you really want to get into then there's no better kit than the tekno et48 imo. You do pay a pretty pound for it but you're paying for quality.
  14. Can a 1/8 buggy even fit a battery that big? My TT EB4 S2 can barely fit 5000s
  15. I'm not really getting defensive but I'm just pointing out that I've tried all that stuff. Insurance completely varies and it's really hard to determine what decreases the premium and what doesn't. So someone whose 25 years old in central London gets completely different results. It even depends on what day you do it. My premium dropped £400 because I got a quote on a different day. The BMW was £3500 on the same day on the same websites for me when the fiesta was £1200. When I say best car for the money, I meant in terms of insurance not initial buying price because that's what we were on about. A 120hp fiesta is always gonna be more fun than a base model BMW with about 90hp. That's just my opinion. I even put in a basemodel 114d into the same comparison website I used for my fiesta I then tried it with my own car and I'm getting stupid prices because I paid less than half of this without telematics, but it's still cheaper £2,700 Vs £6,300 Shows how even a few changes in where you live and your age ect ect ect make a huge difference in what car is more expensive than the other. I assumed it being diesel was the reason because companies take any excuse to charge more so it makes sense. Either way, a diesel for me would be impossible for me to own in London because of the incoming emissions laws in 2021. I know that's not your point though. My goal was to get a fun car with insurance I could afford and I think that I got the perfect car for that. Just my opinion though.
  16. While insurance groups can give you a guideline for insurance prices ( I used parkers a lot for this) it's doesn't necessarily dictate the actual amount it would cost. In London the 114d was about £3,500 to insure cos it's a diesel which they're trying to eliminate down here. It's also a lot slower and sloppier than the zetec s. I did a huge amount of research and I definitely feel the zetec s is the best drivers car I could've got for the money. It was between the price of 1.2 corsas and the 1.0 Peugeot 107 and I'd definitely say the performance was worth it. Next time I'm definitely gonna haggle them tho.
  17. If you wanna sell any of it on here then post it up in the for sales section with prices. I'm sure you'll have a lot of people interested in those shells 👍
  18. I don't see why not. They're the same batteries, just different dimensions as far as I'm aware. It would definitely run like it would on any other battery. But I don't see why you'd want to do that either unless you're just running the buggy on 2s. The terminals of shorties come out the top and are not flexible so stacking 2 shorties on top of each other is awkward and dangerous. If had the terminals of the bottom battery facing towards the front of the buggy and you crash then the battery on top could ram into the terminals of the one below which could cause some serious damage. Even if you swapped the battery to face the other way you'd still most likely cause major damage if you landed badly on the back of the buggy or rammed it backwards into something. I definitely wouldn't recommend it myself.
  19. I remember the brushless spatha being £200 so that sounds about right. I very nearly bought that as my first proper RC lmao. Glad I went with the Scrt10 instead.
  20. Welcome to the forum mate. This is what you're looking for. 👍 https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/forum/137-planes-gliders-helicopters/
  21. Yeah look for bearings made for the help xstr pro as they are direct fits. As far as I'm aware absima doesn't actually sell bearing upgrades themselves.
  22. An Absima ab3.4 could be what ur looking for. It's a £70 kit with no electrics and it takes brushless power well. Upgrades such as ball bearings, aluminium arms, aluminium skid plate, new wing mount, and maybe some adjustable shocks and aluminium shock towers will push you into your price bracket. These upgrades will also make it stronger than any other buggy at its price. It has a lot of cross compatible parts with hsp vehicles too. I have a build thread on what I've done on mine so far. It's probably my favourite vehicle in my fleet and was the cheapest new.
  23. Yeah I'd defo do that. Use it as a parts car for the first one so that if something breaks, you already have the part.
  24. Yeah I order a servo and receiver from them every month just incase.
