  1. Agahahhahahha This is amazing analogy and great advice. Thanks!
  2. So what’s the most popular? 1/8 Nitro buggy and truggy? What about electric off-road? Are 1/8 buggies a popular racing class?
  3. Thanks for all your help guys. I've ordered some wheels and some 2s lipos as well Completely understand that the build quality and tuning ability of the kits mentioned is completely different to the Kraton. Im finding it really hard to find more information about some of the kits mentioned online. I thought there would be a thriving second hand market for race kits but can't seem to tap into that. And just generally - finding info online seems thin. Any advice where I can head to learn more?
  4. This is super helpful. Thanks, guys. So am I looking for something like this for a dirt track? Are these the correct sized wheels? https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=405191&gclid=CjwKCAjwxLH3BRApEiwAqX9arfSWL7jPLQxTTSOVbjiFwrDvfSQQhxtDm4NfkF1HR7yWfbBE5N3EUBoCKTYQAvD_BwE Also, can someone explain to me how the 12v chargers work these days. Do you still have to connect them to a car battery using crocodile clips or is it now a cigarette lighter job?
  5. Oh, that’s great, maybe I’ll just start off getting used to the trach with the Kraton then. So when you say decent truggy wheels what do you mean?
  6. Hi Guys, Having only recently got back into the hobby I am now interested in trying my hand on an outdoor track. My closest tracks are Clanfield and Slough. At this point I have a Kraton 6s. I know this won’t be suitable for racing so would like some advice on what truggy I should consider. Thanks guys James
  7. Thanks @brit_bulldog that makes sense. If I were to buy a new non pull start .21 engine for a little but of racing what would you recommend? I've tried searching the forums as assumed this would be a regulary asked question but anything I find seems to be a really old thread now
  8. Did lap times massively reduce when you spent more money? It would be great to see a pro take a £200 car around a track and then see them take their pro car around - I wonder how much difference in lap times there would actually be? Good shout on the starter box. Can any pull start engine be changed to work with a box? I have an old starter box from a Truggy that I’m planning on selling so I’ll hold that back
  9. I’ll be sure to keep you posted if and when I get myself over to Slough! Looks like a great track from what I’ve seen from YouTube etc. Looking at all the past results it seems that everyone is running £600 rolling chassis with £300 engines though!!
  10. Hi Guys. Just considering getting back on the road with a nitro buggy. Based on another forum users advise I’m considering a HoBao Hyper VS. My brief was was that I wanted an easy to maintain/tune buggy that could be used as an entry level occasional racer - or at least used on a track such as Sloughs off road track. Looking at the race results it’s clear that when/if the racing bug bites I’ll have to spend more cash but at the moment I just want to dip my toe in the water. What engine size should I get? I assume there are rules to racing and that everyone has to use a .21 engine?
  11. Thats great advice. And gives me plenty to think about. Thanks! The truggy was bought used as a rolling chassis so I’m not sure whether it was originally a full pro or not. Think I’ll list it without the electrics as they were all new.
  12. Hi Guys. Not used this for about 5 years now so considering selling and buying a r2r buggy to help ease my way back into the sport. So... first question is - what’s this little lot worth? Aside from needing a new clutch gear and some engine mount screws it’s very clean. Its a Hong Nor X2 Truggy with a few racing mods like big bore shocks etc. Second question... should I buy a r2r or a rolling chassis and keep the electrics and starter box from this truggy? I’m looking for an easy to run/maintain/tune 1/8th buggy that could be tuned for the odd race (never raced but love the idea). I guess I'm looking to spend around the £300 mark but ultimately it depends what this is worth. All help and advice appreciated.
