  1. some of the HPI monster trucks seem pretty good and look nice but heard getting spares might be a tiny issue
  2. Very best place to buy RC cars is Modelsport in otley https://www.modelsport.co.uk/
  3. This gets a lot of following, monster truck slash funky SUV, though it says 1/16 its fairly good size https://www.modelsport.co.uk/traxxas-1-16-summit-xl-2-5-id-rtr-with-leds/rc-car-products/427839
  4. really dont want brushless for it, cant drop the gearing down any lower than 17 tooth so might try it with 35T motor and NI-MH, i can keep the big lipo for my carisma
  5. Here is a problem, i have just got an ftx outlaw brushed running 15T motor with 17tooth pinion on a 62 tooth spur, they are known for getting a hot motor, and short run times, so want to use 2s lipo for longer run times, i also want to reduce the top speed as this was not bought for all out speed and the lipo will make it faster, so i have ordered a 35T motor, but i could do with dropping down the pinion to say 14, problem is the motor mount in non adjustable, so how do i go about meshing the gears
  6. Really would of thought this would of been snapped up at this price, will give it a few more days on here and then of to ebay
  7. and so the saga continues, having just ordered a motor mount and matching 17 tooth pinion, i find out it has 17 as standard, it will be err, interesting to see where we end up with this
  8. i had an FTX that had been heavily modded and it gave me nothing but trouble, would usually break 5 mins into a run out, i was ready to call it a day with rc cars as i prefer flying, but some good people on here gave me good advice to get a carisma scale, at the time i sort of struggled to like the shell on the coyote and went for the Lynx ORV, i have to say i really, i mean REALLY like this truck, its not an ideal crawler more a trail rig but that suits my driving style, the coyote seems a little better at proper crawling, it carries its weight a little lower, carisma are very good and parts cheap an easy to get, incidentally i have bought another FTX for my wife, the outlaw and thats proving good as a basher
  9. Many thanks for all the advice, i dont think i can go 15 tooth, think its 17 or the stock 23 tooth, as the 35T motor has not been dispatched i might see if i can change the order to a 27T as a happy compromise, thanks again
  10. she does not need the stock car speed, looks like i have to order a motor mount and 17Tooth pinion to , so as a last question so i can try to get it right, do i use the stock 15T or new 35T motor with the 17 tooth gear and 2s lipo, not buying any more motors at this stage
  11. cheers.......what effect would just changing motor to the 35T and keeping it on NI-MH packs have
  12. I have ordered an HPI 35T 540 motor and 2s lipo for this but after a comment on another thread now worried that i have got it wrong with motor choice, that it will burn out on full throttle running standard gearing, is this the case?
  13. so am i to expect a 35T to burn out.............
  14. Have to say, my lovely wife really likes the outlaw (so do i lol) it eats up bumpy ground with ease, has very good low speed throttle control, its plenty fast, but run time is not good so going 5200mah 2s lipo with 35T 540 motor
  15. The decision is a done deal, she had a second run with her new wheels at cow an calf meet today decent 3500mah NI-MH gave around 20 mins, better but still not great considering my Carisma sca Lynx was still going on a same battery after 2 hours!. Going to order a 540 35T motor and i won a 5200mah floureon 2s lipo by making a cheeky offer, but i will say the outlaw is great
  16. gearing down is a royal pain in the ...... so dont want to do that, now it has XT60i can try it on 3500mah NI-MH packs, if not good enough i can get a couple of 5200mah 2s floureons
  17. Thanks, just soldered the XT60 so i can use lipo now if needed, might see about a big 2s
  18. On suplied 1800 mah NI-MH, what would you think to be run time, wife had a play for first time and only got about 5 mins despite me charging battery last night till light turned green, going to put XT60 on so i can discharge/charge on my overlander
  19. I had a change of mind and bought the wife an FTX outlaw, so the landfreeder kit is now for sale
  20. roughly 155mm wide by 140mm long.....aprox
  21. That was quick......kudos to Modelsport as always, the outlaw has arrived, along with the clear extra body, that is going to be so easy to paint
  22. I forgot to say, this also has full bearing kit installed in the build, the total cost to me was in excess of £200 so my listed price is very low, and its this low to try and sell quick
  23. I have geared up to use NI-MH packs on all the cars, got 3 more due this weekend so to do a gov style u turn and go lipo would be money wasted and more money invested, i do have a pair of 2s but only 2200mah, maybe best thing is just leave it stock and try and teach her low throttle control, get the point over that its not an on-of switch
  24. Danny, no help at all, but on the other hand you see what i am thinking re more power equals more damage i will look for a 27T 550 for it, should slow it down a bit and take a bit of strain out of the driveline but still give a fair wheel speed
