  1. This happened to both motors freshly installed on two different cars. No stones, just block paving. I’ve already upgraded my own to brushless so I appreciate the benefits. But I expected more than 15 minutes from these motors. Cheers.
  2. Good afternoon All, Well it's been a while since taking our three Firestorms out but the current lock down seemed like a perfect excuse. I'm running a fantastic Hobbywing brushless Combo in my own Firestorm but the last time we used the cars the stock 15T Firebolt brushed motors in both my boy's cars burned out. I put it down to a combo of 2S Lipos and long wet grass. So I originally planned to upgrade them both to a couple of Gool RC Brushless Combos. But as they show little interest in the cars and the brushed motors are still pretty quick and cheap as chips I thought I'd wet their appetite with some replacement 15T Firebolts from Modelsport. I changed the motors over last night and charged the Lipos this morning. 15 minutes in and both cars slowed to a crawl. I figured the 2S Lipos were discharged but on checking they were both still 7.6V. I then realised the motors were bloody hot to the touch and the pastic rotors (are these for cooling?) inside had melted and broken up. One of which was completely missing. Now I know some would advise that Lipos and brushed motors are not a good mix. But these cars come with 8.4V nimh packs included. And the ESCs are Lipo compatible. So for me Lipos on these motors shouldn't be an issue. I understand the motors will wear quicker on Lipos but these lasted about 15 minutes!!?? The original motors didn't break up like this and the plastics are still intact. We were only out the front of our house on block paving. Have I done something wrong? I read plenty before buying thee motors just to check brushed motors can be run with Lipos. I couldn't see an issue. 15 minutes is a joke surely!? Can anyone recommend any better brushed motors then the stock Firebolts? Thanks in advance.
  3. Personally if I were buying again I'd go straight for the Flux. I upgraded my brushed model myself to a Hobbywing Brushless combo and the difference is night and day. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  4. I bought an ammo case from eBay brand new. And a cheap bag from Amazon. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  5. It should come with double sided sticky pads. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks Gents. I've left them with no holes in either the wheels or tyres. I'll see how I go. Things I've noticed so far: They don't compress as much as stock due to no hole. The front wheels with Trenchers fitted shimmy in reverse. The rear Trenchers hardly balloon at all when doing donuts. I'm actually not sure if there is any benefit to having Trenchers on the front. Atleast on hard ground such as block paving. Loose mud or grass may be different and they may help with steering by digging in better. Cheers. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  7. I can't see a vent hole in the new wheels. So my question is.....hole in tyre vs hole in wheel vs neither vs both? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  8. I think they probably would to be honest. Just decided against the risk of ruining them if the dye didn't work. I couldn't get hold of any black 2.2 inch HPI wheels anywhere.I did dye the stock chrome wheels. The issue with them is although I got all the chrome off, what looks to be a polyurethane primer would not budge. I boiled them and used oven cleaner. No joy. So I dyed them anyway and low and behold on one of the wheels the primer started to peel.[emoji34]I fitted one to the car to see and I do prefer black. But I think the white look good enough for less than £7 a pair. I haven't driven it yet but the Trenchers feel very grippy. Oh and I almost ruined a tyre with the HPI tyre glue. Jesus. It makes ordinary superglue look like prit-stick.[emoji15] Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  9. Just trying to decide on whether to dye these new rims black before I glue the Trenchers on. I have some iDye Poly. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  10. Hello mate, I've bought two pairs of white (only colour available at the moment) HPI Mesh wheels and two pairs of Trenchers. Ive also bought some idye poly so will dye the old wheels and if it works out alright I may dye the mesh wheels I've bought. How much tread remains and how much are you asking? Cheers. 11. So I've pulled the trigger on 2 pairs of black Pro-Line Desperado 2.2 wheels and 2 pairs of Pro-Line Trencher T 2.2 Tyres. Neither Modelsport or Wheelspin could confirm the wheels will definitely fit the Firestorm. They are 12mm hex and have a fairly deep offset so they should fit. I may just have to open up the hole a little. Has anyone tried these wheels on the Firestorm? Cheers.

  15. You can counter the increase in wheel diameter by fitting lower profile tyres. Then the rolling circumference and diameter may not have to increase at all. But then the tyres will be less suited to off-road as you will have less cushioning. Just my two pennies worth as I'm new to RC cars. Others on here will know more. 16. Stretch if you still have them, have you got any pics of the remaining thread on the tyres fitted to the black Firestorm Scorch wheels? Are all the hexes good? Also are these made from black plastic rather black coated white plastic? Pretty sure they are. Cheers. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  17. That's a bit steep for a used card when you can get this brand new...... https://www.overclockers.co.uk/kfa2-geforce-gtx-1070-ex-oc-8192mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-091-kf.html Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  18. Mine Firestorm actually slows right down just before the LVC kicks in which would indicate the battery voltage has dropped off. So for me it appears just right. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  19. Evening All, Has anyone ever fitted HPI Super Star MT Wheels to their Firestorm? The reason I ask is that for the Firestorm or other 2WD trucks they supply different wheels for the front and back. The rears have a deeper offset. https://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-super-star-mt-wheels-black-deep-offset-2pcs-/rc-car-products/380218 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-super-star-mt-wheels-front-black-2-2in-2pcs-/rc-car-products/23955 I just wondered if it matters to fit the same wheel front and rear. The only reason I can see that they do it like this is because neither of these wheels has the same offset as the standard wheels. And that the standard wheels have an offset somewhere in between. I don't want to stress the hubs or bearings, and I obviously don't want them to rub either. I want some black wheels to go with the Trenchers I aim to buy. The other option is the standard Flux 'Scorch' wheels or the standard brushed 'Split 5' wheels in black but they're out of stock everywhere. Cheers.
  20. Same with the E-Firestorm thread. But it's easy enough to search 'this topic'.
  21. Good question. The manual is confusing as f#*ck. They should just list the voltages instead of talking about battery discharge ability. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  22. I can vouch for the 4000kv Hobbywing Combo (in my 2WD E-Firestorm). And I believe Nickarla can vouch for the 3300kv Hobbywing Combo. Possibly the 3300kv is better for the Carnage due to 4WD and the added torque of the motor but there will be others on here better placed to advise. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks. And the Trenchers a good choice for an all surface tyre? Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  24. Yep the horn is installed 1 spline off centre. The horn is tight and it's definitely the shaft moving. The guy at RC Octane runs these SRT servos in his own cars and will check his and let me know. He seems like a very decent fella and has offered a replacement, but I'm not too fussed keeping it as long as it doesn't get any worse. I sorted out the trim by taking apart the horn push rod and shaving 0.5mm-1.0mm off the female threaded side to shorten it. Now I hardly need any trim at all. Next up is black wheels and some tyres. Thinking Trenchers. The Ground Assaults are wasting away on the block paving in our road. Trenchers seem to be highly thought of on here and I figured they might be as near to an all surface tyre as I can get. Would you agree? And would you recommend front and rears or just rears? I'm asking a lot of questions, I know. [emoji849] Cheers. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
  25. Ostewart do you have any backlash on yr SRT servo? I can wiggle the horn and shaft [emoji6] a little left and right. In my mind it should be solid. Even the plastic HPI one I removed was solid. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5010 using Tapatalk
