  1. I agree dan @Oh How Original they are a massive unit, definitely wouldn’t fit on my model shelf. But I guess they need to justify the need to remortgage your home to purchase one? (Sorry @mamodman) I can definitely see the appeal of them especially for those that want a quick entry into the hobby with a machine that does pretty well until pushed that bit harder. Just the price though............. one of the guys that made it along to my meet up was the owner of greens models, he’s says he always recommends the sca-1e to people looking to get in on the crawling scene on a budget.
  2. Ooh, controversial fred! I must admit, I was very impressed with the traxxas at the meet yesterday, I felt they made it look too easy though. With the modifications I’ve done to my coyote it’s a very capable bit of kit and I’m under the cost of a TRX4 too. The guys running them yesterday have fitted brass portal covers and steering knuckles to get the weight down low. Cant help but love the underdog though (coyote) think I’ll be doing another custom shell for mine soon.
  3. No breakages on mine either other than the mirrors in transit. I have modded it a fair bit to suit me more though. Very capable machine.
  4. Got out for a nice session on the rocks with some buddies, there was definitely a popular choice of truck present!! Made my coyote look like a runt!!
  5. Oh well, the £200 pipe dream was sweet while it lasted.
  6. £199.99..................... yes please!! i try so hard to enjoy this hobby on a small budget. Unfortunately the cost of some of these models and their respective upgrades is insane. Does look very nice though and big thumbs up from me for not falling into the Land Rover and Jeep trap.
  7. They also don’t come with a 2 speed transmission or switchable diff locks, so you would hope them to be a fair chunk cheaper................. probably not though.
  8. I have a carisma coyote and really enjoy it, I have never owned an axial so can’t offer a true comparison I’m afraid. The carisma I feel is a great vehicle to get you started and is easily modified and customised. A few things I wasn’t too happy with when I got it were the tyres not offering as much grip on rocks (they say it’s more a trail rig from the box) also being fitted with bronze bushings instead of sealed bearings (bought bearings on Ebay) there is a fair amount of slop in some of the suspension rod ends but will replace them when needed. The stock wheels are 1.55 on the outer and 1.9 on the inner which make changing the tyres impossible without also changing the wheels. I’ve modded a good few parts of mine now and I’m pleased with what it can do. It’s great value for money in my opinion. From what I can tell axial quality is better.
  9. Have started a plasticard build for my Carisma SCA-1e chassis. Hoping to end up with a crawler truck?? But the reality is I haven’t got a clue where this will end up!! first time scratch building for me.
  10. Took the Carisma out to a new location with my mates Demon.
  11. Hey @Jimplops definitely worth adding some weight in your wheels!! I run 110g in each front wheel of my outback and approx 80g in each rear. Relocating your battery tray to the front is also a worthwhile mod, more weight over the front axle really helps the truck dig in for climbing but can cause tipping on Descent. (All helps with driving practice) Use automotive stick on alloy wheel weights and preferably made up of 5g segments as they conform to the wheels shape better. Can be had for 45p a strip at greens models online shop (plus postage)
  12. Had the dirty dog up the Avon gorge for a bit today.
  13. Hi there, I don’t suppose there is any way these could be £50 all in? Cheeky I know, but thought I’d ask. Cheers adam.
  14. Hey Fred, I’ve used asiatees for some shocks on my coyote, took around a week to get to me (puts some UK sellers to shame). If in doubt use PayPal if you have it? been a while since I posted on here so here’s a pic of how mine looks nowadays
  15. The past few days I’ve been painting and adding some rust to my new carisma coyote shell.
  16. I’ve witnessed a few forward rolls due to excess front mounted weight!! Only amusing if it’s not your truck. Still run my coyote battery in the stock rear position and have weighted the front wheels.
  17. Looks awesome Nikki! Nice details.
